<Episode 18>
“No.”
I refused because it seemed like Abellard would be bothersome.
My Brother was like a fox. As long as I gave him what he wanted moderately, he wouldn’t be bothersome.
Even though we had a promise, going together to Brother’s place and staying together constantly didn’t seem like a good choice.
The reason being, from the perspective of an alpha, omega, or beta, he was a dangerous presence.
Of course, his divine power was very useful to the point where I didn’t need a doctor.
However… the Abellard Willaid I knew wasn’t someone I particularly wanted to be close to.
Moreover, he seemed suspiciously willing to stay together now, unlike before when he hesitated, despite always teasing me with various tricks.
Now, there are no omegas in this world. Since all the omegas are dead, Brother might have become an alpha.
In that case, alphas without omegas might try to regulate their rut cycles through betas, so I could somewhat understand why Abellard was acting like this towards me.
From my perspective, it’s really weird, though.
“Eve.”
“Yes?”
“Eve, you should rest a bit too. You must be tired.”
“I think it’s better not to rest. I’m worried something might happen because of the smell of the jaguar blood.”
“The wild animals here don’t come out when it rains.”
“How do you know that… Have you really been here for a year?”
“Yeah.”
He turned his head to look at me. The blue pupils shimmering in the firelight seemed like they were revealing everything.
The Abellard Willaid I knew wouldn’t be like that.
“When did you know that Brother was a quantum?”
“I knew from the beginning. Lord Willaid always threatened me with that.”
“…”
If it was Lord Willaid, it made sense. He was someone who felt embarrassed that I was a beta.
When I gave up all social and community activities and stopped going outside the marquess’s mansion altogether, he actually liked it.
Of course, it’s true that Eveline did some terrible things as the Wilden Lady, but even so, she didn’t show any affection, not even a hint of concern for her daughter.
However, it seemed that Abellard genuinely cherished her a lot.
“What about Mother?”
“Mother forgot that I’m not her biological daughter. She said it’s shameful to have given birth to a beta.”
“Ah…”
It’s almost unheard of for a beta to be born when a royal alpha and a royal omega couple. I understood why the Marquis and Marquise Wilden would say that.
But, regardless of their circumstances or any sympathy, I wasn’t interested in them now that I was Eveline Wilden.
They were cruel parents to me, people who didn’t even give me a small amount of attention.
Even on days when I was burning up with a fever of 40 degrees Celsius, the Marquis and Marquise didn’t come to see me. Only the Marquise’s physicians nursed me.
“Didn’t Brother dislike me?”
“Yeah. I liked you. That’s why I kept my distance.”
“What nonsense is that?”
“I know that the actions you showed me came from affection.”
Seeing how severe the nonsense was, I wondered if the jaguar bite wasn’t healing well, so I brushed it with my hand.
“It’s itchy.”
“Yeah.”
The back seemed fine.
“Brother.”
“Can’t you call me Abel?”
“Yes.”
Then, he returned to that polite gaze.
Unfortunately, I was quite resistant to this, so I covered my eyes with my palms because his gaze was bothersome.
“Eve. If you sleep like this, a rat will come on your legs.”
“Yes, so please move.”
“Yeah.”
It was much later when I fell asleep.
Perhaps because I fell asleep hugging the gun, even while sleeping, I felt quite relieved.
* * *
Confirming that Eveline had fallen asleep, Abellard slowly touched her face.
He knew very well that she wouldn’t even notice if he carried her away while she was asleep.
Tap tap.
The embers were still faintly glowing.
He brought the gasoline Eveline had and sprinkled it a bit more on the fire and placed some dry branches nearby.
After confirming that Elkais’s coat was completely dry, he covered her body with it.
Then, he unfolded the blue note that appeared in his hand.
[Illegal intruder tolerance level (3/0)]
He threw it into the embers and quietly got up to leave the cave. He glanced back at Eveline. She was asleep, hugging the gun.
Abellard confirmed her sleeping face, knowing that he had to leave before she woke up, and smiled.
“I’ll be back soon, my Eve.”
With that said, he left the cave and climbed up the cliff.
Contrary to what he said to Eveline yesterday about being afraid of climbing the walls, he didn’t seem to have much difficulty climbing the cliff.
Having easily climbed up the cliff, he checked the blue note in his hand again.
[Illegal intruder within 200m radius.]
After confirming it, he slipped it into his drawers and recalled the nearby terrain.
The only hiding place here was this cave’s end. So, maybe they were up there.
He thought there was no need to search. They would come here anyway.
However, with Eveline asleep, if he dealt with them here, she might hear.
After finally reuniting with Eveline, it would be unbearable to lose her again.
If he exposed Eveline to the illegal intruders, they would target her.
The illegal intruders would probably target Eveline more than him.
Moreover, because of his ungoverned body, he couldn’t be as cautious as before.
Having quickly distanced himself from the cliff, he entered the forest.
He used his magic to create small, sharp shapes.
Eveline probably thought he only used divine power, but he could use both divine and magic.
Abellard sharpened his power and stretched out his hand. Then, he sprinkled the blood flowing from his hand onto the tree.
Then, somewhere, there was a rustling sound.
Abellard looked at the tree with an indifferent face and then treated his hand. A bright light flashed, briefly illuminating the surroundings.
“Growl…!”
It was now the dead of dawn. Just before the sun rose, the darkest dawn.
“Growl growl growl growl!”
“Where’s one of them?”
Kwah-ang!
As soon as he spoke, the other one also revealed himself completely.
“All three are here. Seems like you’re close.”
Abellard was relieved that the three hadn’t come separately.
He pulled his power like a bow.
The pitch-black males looked very different from ordinary people, as if they were covered in something black.
“Abel…ard… Wilden?”
“Yeah.”
After confirming Abellard’s identity, they opened their mouths grotesquely as if they were pleased. Then, they exchanged glances with each other and drew their swords.
Abellard sighed as he looked at the blue paper he had tucked between his drawers.
“The others, are they?”
“They’re all dead.”
“Lies.”
“Yeah, it’s a lie.”
Abellard released the power like an arrow.
With a thud, the arrow grazed the intruder’s cheek and pierced the face of the intruder behind him.
“Thud!”
“If we kill only you…”
“Got it.”
He avoided the intruder coming towards him and took a step back for a moment.
One of the intruders, who seemed to be strong, came crashing down the trees as he approached, while the other one approached with a sword.
Thud, thud!
As the trees fell, the intruder wielding the sword threw it towards Abellard.
He bent down to avoid the flying tree and pulled his power back into a bow. Then, another arrow appeared on the power-made bow.
Without aiming, he released the power like an arrow.
Thud!
Instantly, it struck the forehead of the intruder who had thrown the tree.
“Aargh!”
“Too noisy.”
He quickly pulled the bowstring again.
Thud! Thud!
Successive shots hit the remaining intruder’s shoulder and chest.
Then, he fired the last arrow.
“Urgh, stinks.”
“Kraaaaargh!”
Abellard grimaced at the repugnant pheromones emanating from the monster. Then, confirming that the one hit in the head by the arrow was no longer moving, he pulled the bowstring again.
Thud!
Thud!
Although they were likely dead, just to make sure, he fired two more arrows into their backs.
The bodies of the monsters began to disperse like ashes.
Abellard checked the blue note tucked in his drawers. The previous sentence disappeared, and a new one began to be written.
[Illegal intruder tolerance level (0/0).
There are no illegal intruders for the next week.
Therefore, Abellard Wilden’s wish (Eveline Wilden’s survival) is still valid.]
He crumpled it up and threw it somewhere before descending the cliff and entering the cave.
Inside, Eveline Wilden, who had been sleeping soundly, was huddled under Elkais’s coat as if cold.
Abellard slipped his arm under her neck and lay down together.
“My Eveline.”
He gently brushed aside the red hair that had fallen onto her face and said,
“My Eveline Wilden.”
Ohhh que está pasando, Abellard es fuerte 😯
Esas notas me hacen pensar que es algún tipo de mundo en un juego
Wait is her brother a transmigrator too?
