I Became a Mother of Three

IBMOT Chapter 19

Episode 19

“Weeh!!”

Lia and Resen ran to Poi in their new clothes, which had been praised a lot by Erina.

But Poi, who was still asleep, did not open his eyes even in the noisy surroundings.

Erina sighed briefly at that and started to organize the luggage Dylan had brought.

It was true that Dylan had prepared everything for his niblings. Not long after he had left, he returned with a large bag full of things for the children.

The children’s eyes lit up every time clothes and accessories came out of the bag.

Erina was also left speechless when she saw clothes that were much more extravagant than those in the stores downtown.

“Let me help you.”

Dylan, who had been watching his nephew and niece chattering nonstop, decided to tidy up their clothes with Erina.

“Excuse me, Mr. Dylan?”

“Yes…?”

“Are you sure you’re trying to help me right now?”

Dylan coughed awkwardly at Erina’s suspicious expression.

“Of course I am helping you.”

Erina didn’t say anything more at the sight of Dylan’s expression that looked wronged. But no matter how she looked at it, it seemed like he was not helping her…

He put his rolled-up clothes on top of the clothes she had folded, making them all collapse and mix up together after she had sorted them out.

Erina let out a deep sigh at the sight of the man who seemed to have no aptitude for organizing.

“I think it would be faster if I did it alone.”

An evacuation order had been issued.

Dylan quietly backed away without making any excuses.

He had never been treated as incompetent for not being able to do something like this.

Dylan pouted his lips in frustration.

Now that he thought about it, Erina was only being picky about himself.

His niblings got tons of compliments just for wearing something, but he got scolded even when he was trying to help.

It was a little, no, a lot unfair.

Although it was ridiculous to compare himself to three-month-old babies, Dylan felt genuinely wronged.

He hated his niblings that much.

He felt really annoyed and jealous that they were only receiving compliments from Erina without doing anything.

***

It had been three days since Resen and Lia finished molting.

During this time, the children became accustomed to using different words when speaking, and they were also able to perform detailed movements using their fingers.

However.

The most important thing was that there was still no news about Poi’s shedding.

Erina’s worries also grew.

It wasn’t so bad that he couldn’t even open his eyes like at the first day, but the time he had his eyes open was very short.

“Poi…”

Even now, Poi ate a few spoonfuls of the soup Erina made and some medicine and fell into deep sleep again.

Erina gently stroked Poi’s body with a worried expression.

The one who looked at the sight with the most discontented expression was Dylan.

In his opinion, his niblings were shedding in the most comfortable environment possible.

Did these little guys know that when he had his first molt, he just slept in his cave until he starved to death, making him wake up?

As soon as the memory of his first molt, deeply buried, came back to him, Dylan’s once relaxed eyebrows furrowed.

It was just so beggarly.

How could that even be compared to this?

In a warm house, they ate soup from Erina, took medicine from Erina, received caressing touches from Erina, and even got Erina’s concern.

If he had received that, he could have finished shedding in a few days, or even in just an hour.

While Dylan was muttering darkly to himself and feeling jealous of his nephews…

“H, huh?!”

Erina, who had been watching Poi, looked back in surprise.

At the same time, Dylan, whose eyes met hers, flinched in shock.

He quickly put on a good-natured smile, telling himself that ‘it was just his thoughts. He had never been abusive to his niblings.’

Nevertheless, he was grabbed by the collar again.

“Uh, Miss Erina?”

Dylan looked at Erina with a puzzled expression.

If he wanted to get rid of someone’s hold on his neck, he would have to grab their hand, but… was it really okay to grab them?

While Dylan was looking at the small hand holding his collar, contemplating his choices.

Erina had her reason for doing this.

It was because Poi, who had been sleeping quietly, began to glow brightly.

When she saw Poy suddenly change before her eyes, the only thing that came to her mind was Dylan.

She had hoped that since he was an adult dragon, he would do something.

Not realizing that in her haste she had grabbed Dylan by the collar, Erina dragged him towards Poi.

“Poi—look at him! He is shining!”

As Erina said, a bright light was shimmering around Poi’s body.

The light was an aurora of a purple color similar to Poi’s scales. It was moving in a circular motion as if it was enveloping Poi’s entire body.

Not only Erina, but also Resen and Lia stamped their feet.

“Poi, twinkle twinkle!”

“Poi, round!”

Resen and Lia also looked at Poi with eyes filled with curiosity and concern, as they had never seen other dragons shed their scales before.

“Ah, finally.”

Dylan, on the other hand, looked satisfied.

It was fortunate that none of the three fell too far behind.

Erina, who had been listening carefully to the words coming out of his mouth, asked Dylan again.

“This should be the end of Poi’s shedding, right?”

“Yes, I think so.”

“W-wow…!”

Erina’s eyes sparkled with joy at Dylan’s answer. Her face also flushed with a little excitement.

Dylan couldn’t take his eyes off the sparkle on her face. So they just stared at each other’s faces without saying a word.

“Erina, Mama!”

Suddenly, a small child’s voice, not that of Resen and Lia, rang in Erina’s ears.

Erina quickly turned her head and looked in the direction of the voice.

It came from a little boy with curly purple hair and large black eyes filled with teardrops.1I got all of them right 🤭

“Poi!!”

“Poi!!”

Resen and Lia called Poi’s name at the same time.

Then both of them stretched out their short legs and crawled onto the bed.

Erina also ran to the bed hastily, calling Poi’s name.

“Erina.”

Poi stretched out his arms towards Erina, shedding the tears he had been holding down.

“Yeah, Poi! Good job, I knew you could do it too!”

Erina hugged Poi tightly and consoled him.

Poi rubbed his face and dug deeper into her, missing her embrace.

When Poi hugged Erina, Resen and Lia also lined up and rushed towards Erina.

Even family members who hadn’t seen each other in decades wouldn’t have such tearful reunions.

In reality, he, who was their real blood relative, was standing awkwardly next to them.

Tsk, Dylan clicked his tongue briefly and dug between them, lifting Poi up.

“Ugh!”

Poi let out a small scream when he felt the rough hand of an adult male, instead of Erina’s gentle touch.

Erina was also looking at Dylan, who had suddenly barged in, with surprised eyes.

Dylan deliberately rolled Foy around, pretending to check if he was okay.

Actually, he was just upset, but who cares?

“Hmm.”

Erina, who was watching the two of them from the side, asked.

To her, Poi’s appearance after molting was so pretty and cute, but she had no idea about dragons.

“Hey, is he healthy? There’s nothing wrong with him or anything, right?”

Dylan closed his eyes and smiled, feeling momentarily satisfied that Erina’s eyes were completely focused on him.

“Yes, he is healthy.”

Dylan knew as much about Poi’s condition as Erina, but he thought that if he did this, Erina would think he was great.

And as he had expected, Erina spoke to Dylan with eyes full of trust.

“I’m glad Mr. Dylan is by my side. There are so many things I don’t know.”

Dylan shrugged.

It felt good. Dylan raised the corners of his lips as if it was nothing and put Poi back on the bed.

Immediately after, Poi was hugged by Erina again.

Erina first found clothes for Poi, who was hanging on to her.

“Poi, we’re the same!”

“Poi has pretty clothes!”

“Pretty.”

Three dragons, no, three children stood side by side, looking up at Erina.

They all had colorful hair and shining jewel-like eyes.

“Yeah. Resen, Lia, and Poi are all pretty. You’re the prettiest in the world.”

The sight of them holding hands and praising each other for being pretty was just like a scene from a children’s book.

Only Uncle Dylan, who still couldn’t fit in, had a bitter expression on his face.
