I Am The Evil Wife Of A Young Husband

TEWOAYH I Chapter 19

Before the object placed on my head could fall off, I quickly grabbed it. It was a small hexagonal box, perfectly fitted together except for the keyhole.

“I haven’t made the key yet. Come back next year,” Menelik said.

Excuse me?

I was expecting a nice gift!

Feeling bewildered, I shook the box a little harder.

It rattled.

What on earth could be inside…?

Oops, I need to control my expression!

“Thank you. I’ll look forward to next year,” I replied, trying to maintain my composure.

Menelik chuckled. “You had that ‘I want to discreetly throw this away’ expression, but I’ll take the thanks for now.”

He was subtly perceptive, my quick-witted brother.

“Hehe, no way!”

I denied it while gingerly untying the gift.

“This is from me to you,” I said, accepting the ornate bow with a face that feigned ignorance about Menelik’s preparations.

There was a faded red gem embedded in it, but given how cheaply Grandma used to sell ribbon materials, I was sure it was just an imitation.

“Did you steal this from the count’s mansion?” Menelik joked as if I had presented him with a rare gift.

It just looks the part.

But I made it with my own hands.

As I chatted with Menelik, it soon became time to board the carriage. When I finally got on after confirming my health status with Yelena, Lord Rose was already seated next to Kivrin.

He had been watching me for quite some time.
…Why is he glaring at me?

I buried my back into the soft chair and closed my eyes tightly.

Let’s just sleep.

Hoping time would pass quickly, I tried hard to fall asleep.

But it was Yelena who fell asleep first after some time.

Yelena’s snores started to resonate as she wholeheartedly trusted Lord Rose.

I peeked and covered Yelena with a blanket.

Yelena has taken great care of me so far…

Lord Rose, on the other hand, watched my actions with his legs crossed.

Even if we had met under ordinary circumstances, I would have found that presence suspicious.

In novels, such conspicuous handsome figures aren’t just extras.

Even though the window was closed, Lord Rose’s flowing blond hair fluttered in the wind.

His eye color had changed earlier.

It was a rather inhuman sight.

Well, since there’s a saint present, it’s not surprising for otherworldly beings to appear.

But why now?!

Aren’t otherworldly beings supposed to be entangled with the main character?

And the fact that I was supposed to become a lady of the manor seemed ridiculous and pitiful, adding to my incredulity.

While I trembled alone, Kivrin moved to sit beside me.

“Miss… Cheria, are you okay?”

Kivrin’s hand touched my forehead, and Yelena woke up in fright.

“Miss, are you feeling unwell?”

Perhaps because he was a doctor, his response to my mention of feeling unwell was very quick.

I nodded to assure him I was fine, but my attention was still on Lord Rose.

What if he is an otherworldly being?

But no matter how much I reviewed the novel’s contents, there were no sentences to deduce his identity.

Strange. He couldn’t possibly be an extra.

Yelena’s hand touched my forehead and then withdrew.

“You’re sweating. Are you feeling dizzy?”

“I’m fine. I guess I’m just nervous because it’s my first time riding in a carriage for so long.”
At that moment, Lord Rose let out a mocking laugh.

Yelena seemed to be solely focused on me, not hearing what was said.

“Well then, shall we step out for a moment to catch some fresh air? Madam instructed us to stop the carriage immediately if you or Lord Rose’s condition worsens even slightly. We have plenty of time.”

Indeed, Mother-in-law knows best!

Feeling my fondness for Winter growing, I nodded.

There were some questions I needed to ask Kivrin; I’ll just have to be a bit dramatic this time.

Thanks to that, we had a slightly early break time.

I walked away from the carriage with Kivrin.

“Lord Rose, I have a question. It’s about, um, Lord Rose.”

Uh, what should I do?

I opened my mouth, but I couldn’t ask if Lord Rose looked like a handsome blond god.

After some consideration, I asked a different question.

“Um, who is he?”

“Well, he cries a lot… and can’t do anything on his own. So, um… that’s why… he needs to be accompanied… out of pity…”

“…Hmm.”

Still, it was a rather harsh evaluation for a governess.

What on earth happened?

In any case, Kivrin didn’t seem to be as fierce as he looked.

There was no sign of him openly mocking me, either.

“Do you dislike Miss Cheria…?”

It seems like he dislikes me…

But after hearing that I should accompany Lord Rose out of pity, I couldn’t bring myself to complain further.

“I’ll try to be more sociable and get along with her.”

“I think Miss Cheria and I will get along just fine.”

Kivrin said confidently.

Reluctantly, I nodded at Kivrin’s words.

But it was right after we resumed our journey and underwent the warp that Lord Rose came to see me.

He willingly bent down to my eye level and whispered to me as I struggled with dizziness and catching my breath.
“After I get what I want, I’m leaving the dukedom.”

“….”

He says he’ll get along with me?!

I couldn’t even properly raise my voice or speak, and Rose spoke assertively.

“I don’t care about any other brats besides Kivrin. Got it?”

To others, she may seem like a diligent governess, but to me, she looks like a tyrant even giving orders.

Rose pushed my forehead with the fan.

Wait a minute, I’m already seeing stars in front of my eyes, and if you touch my head…

“Ugh.”

“Miss Cheria!”

Just before I was about to vomit, a familiar voice reached me.

Yelena rushed over and hugged me.

The man disguised as Lord Rose spoke casually.

“It seems like it’s your first time warping. Don’t walk until the dizziness subsides. You might fall and get hurt.”

You said you didn’t care about taking care of me!

Even if you didn’t push my head with the fan, I would have been fine!

As he embraced Yelena and moved away, he mouthed to me.

“Get lost.”

Wow, how childish…

Suddenly, my fear of extraterrestrial beings disappeared.

I wish I had vomited on his clothes before Yelena arrived.

***
Exhausted, I arrived at Duchy of Quenea in a dazed state.

I couldn’t even catch a glimpse of Crescent Castle, the emblem of the duchy.

Yelena helped me lie down on the bed and gave me syrupy medicine.

Kivrin, who followed along, took a seat on the chair by the bed.

“Oh my, is Young master going to take care of you?”

Yelena had a touched expression.

“Don’t worry too much. Lord Rose will make sure you’re sleeping well.”

“….”

Will Lord Rose let me sleep well…?

After Yelena left, I spoke to Kivrin.

“You should rest too, Lord.”

Kivrin’s mouth drooped down.

He looked like a tired puppy in the rain.

Huh.

“Or do you want to stay with me?”

“….Yes!”

Kivrin’s face immediately turned red.

How adorable.

My heart warmed up, which had cooled down due to the extraterrestrial being disguised as Lord Rose.

Moreover, the view outside the window was incredibly beautiful.

I need to get better quickly.

Suddenly, I remembered Winter’s words about collecting monsters for Kivrin.

The duchy was next to the Old Moon Forest, a place known for being full of monsters, so Winter’s words were likely true.

I hesitated and then spoke up.

“Lord, do you remember what I said before? About being a monster too…”

Suddenly, Kivrin jumped in surprise and looked around.

But it’s just us here?

Kivrin pressed his index finger to my lips and lowered his voice.

“Shh. I’ll… keep it a secret.”

“….”
“No, that’s not it.”

“Uh, I-I won’t tell anyone.”

“….”

“You shouldn’t be trapped like me, Cheria…”

To say it so boldly makes it impossible to confess the truth…

It’s not for any other reason but to protect me from being trapped like him…

My heart stung slightly.

“….Thank you.”

Ugh, I don’t know. I’ll be a monster too! I’ll try!

At my response, Kivrin chuckled softly.

Feeling somewhat relieved, I asked,

“Lord, you mentioned to Mother that only a monster can cure another monster… Do you need my help?”

“I… I don’t know. My nanny told me.”

Lord Rose is suspicious as always.

Even though I widened my eyes into triangles, Kivrin didn’t seem to notice and covered me with a blanket.

“W-We should sleep now.”

“Did you feel this dizzy the first time you warped, Lord?”

“….Yes.”

“Are you lying now?! Your eyes are shaking, Lord!”

“I-I also felt dizzy…”

Kivrin desperately lied, raising his hand to cover my eyes.

I like translating novels for a hobby. Hope you enjoy reading my work as much as I enjoy translating it!

  1. Ava says:

So… Gongja is, like, “young master” or “young lord” I guess? Or is supposed to be the last name? But I guess refers to Kivrin. Not to mention everyone still calling Rose “Lord,” keeping me confused. And that… Gongjakryeong…? Do we need to keep that as it’s name? I hope you can find something more comfortable to write/edit and to read in future. It seems like it has something to do with the family’s last name, but idk what.

      Sorry, I fixed them.
