I Am Living Unmarried With My Terminally Ill Lover

IALUWMTIL chapter 07

I am living unmarried with my terminally ill lover.

Episode 7

Priscilla, the prestigious academy for the Empire’s brightest minds.

Priscillan has produced some of the greatest minds of all time.

“It’s Halo Eldin……!”

“Isn’t she the one who got in at the top of the class?”

“The Eldin. The Eldin.”

As Halo walked by, our gazes naturally drew together.

Dazzling silver hair and downcast eyes.

Soft, pale green eyes that looked like they couldn’t kill an ant.

“She looks like an angel. I bet she’s a good girl.”

“She looks nice? She’s actually…….”

The chatter came from all directions.

But Halo ignored the stares and continued on her way.

Half a year ago.

Halo entered the Priscillan Academy.

Ines, who recognized his genius, highly recommended him for admission.

-What if my friends make fun of me for getting in so late……?

-Call me by name. My sister will take care of it.

-Don’t I have to live in a dorm? I can’t sleep in my room.

-I’ll move you into your room.

-But I heard the tuition is really expensive…….

-Tuition?

Ines smirked.

-If you spend all my money, you’ll never graduate.

Halo made all kinds of excuses, but in the end, he had no choice but to enroll.

In front of Ines, Halo was a well-behaved and good little brother.

That’s why he came to the Academy. …….

“Your sister is getting married?

Marrying the master of a magic sword?

I heard about it a while ago, but it must be a rumor.

There have been many rumors surrounding Ines over the years.

‘It can’t be.

Even Ines was a non-married woman.

He even declared that there was no marriage in his life.

Halo’s pace gradually slowed.

He didn’t think he should care, but something about it didn’t feel right.

I knew it wasn’t true, but it couldn’t hurt to check.

She thought about stopping by the house, using the rumors as an excuse to see Ines’ face.

But there was no excuse to leave the academy.

Vacation was far away, and I’d long since used up the number of times I was allowed to leave.

She began to walk faster again, trying to figure out how to get home.

“Halo Eldin!”

Halo stopped in her tracks at the sound of my voice calling out to her.

She slowly turned her head and saw a man.

The man studied Halo’s face for a moment, then held out a letter with great confidence.

“Give this to Ms. Ines. Be nice to her.”

Without even looking at the letter, Halo asked.

“Why are you giving me garbage?”

“……?”

“And don’t call your sister whatever you want, you lowlife.”

The man’s face went blank as Halo shot him a cold glare.

Halo frowned.

This was not the first time he’d been asked to deliver a letter to Ines so casually.

How dare he look down on her without knowing the subject matter.

The man’s face slowly heated up.

Embarrassed in front of everyone, he shouted.

“Is it that hard to deliver a letter?”

“And?”

The man froze in his tracks.

Then he glared at Halo and growled.

“You’re not a genius, ……, and you have no character!”

The barrage of accusations did not affect Halo.

The man’s blood boiled at the sight of Halo’s calm face.

“I pity you, Ines. To have someone like you for a sister…….”

The man stopped talking.

Halo’s expression had changed.

The frightening glare made him cower and let go.

“Ha, you’re going to hit me? Don’t you know that violence gets you suspended?”

Suspension?

An idea struck me.

Halo loosened his grip and asked eagerly.

“Violence gets you suspended?”

“……?”

“If you get suspended, they send you home, right?”

“Uh, yeah.”

“Good.”

Halo laughed.

The man blinked dumbfoundedly, and Halo’s fist went flying.

And a moment later.

Halo was sitting on the couch in the president’s office.

“Violence on campus, that has no place in our academy, and I’m going to put you on reflection for the time being…….”

The dean, who was a constant nag, drove a wedge.

“I’m going to suspend you, and you’re going to go home to reflect.”

At the chancellor’s words, Halo jumped to his feet as if he had been waiting.

“Thank you.”

The reaction was more like a picnic than a suspension.

Halo quickly left the rector’s office, returned to his dormitory, and packed his things.

As she rode the carriage out of the Academy, she thought the rumors were just that: rumors.

But when he reached the capital, the rumors were very specific.

In a month, Ines and the Master of the Sword would be married!

“They’re getting married?!”

Halo cried out, appearing out of nowhere.

Ines blinked slowly and looked at Halo.

No, why is she here…….

Ines opened her mouth, her face suddenly serious.

“Marriage, where did you hear that?”

“I heard it at the academy, my sister is marrying the master of the magic sword…….”

“Ah. What else. Of course, it’s a rumor.”

Ines spoke up at the same time as Halo’s face flushed.

“He’s going to be my lover, not my husband.”

A bolt of lightning crackled over Halo’s head.

Halo stiffened, then blurted out.

“No way!”

I had never seen Halo so excited.

Ines, who had been watching Halo, explained her situation.

About a month ago, she lost her ability to see misfortune.

After contacting Kalad Asdeon, the ability returned.

“I’m not looking for a relationship, I just need him.”

“So you’ll break up when your powers are fully restored?”

“Yes.”

At Ines’ unhesitating answer, Halo’s shoulders sagged, a little relieved.

Suddenly, Halo was back to her usual sweet, innocent self.

Halo lowered her eyes and spoke meekly.

“I’m sorry for barging in without knocking, I was so surprised to hear the news…….”

Ines nodded understandingly.

“I almost stormed into the Academy when I heard about you, too. I heard you were suspended?”

Halo paused.

Then he dropped his head and muttered, “I’m sorry.

“For insulting my family name…….”

“It couldn’t be my brother, after all.”

Shamore glared at Ines, who was a bundle of prejudice and favoritism.

But Halo, seizing the opportunity, immediately feigned pity.

“No, no matter how angry you were, you shouldn’t have used violence.”

Ines sighed softly.

“If you’re so nice, how are you supposed to survive in this harsh world……!”

If she had been in that situation, she would have cut her opponent to pieces.

Ines looked at Halo ruefully.

“Did you hit him with your fist?”

Halo nodded, a little nervously.

“Do you want me to call the counselor? Doesn’t your hand hurt?”

Ines examined Halo’s hand thoughtfully.

Halo blinked and then answered in a small voice.

“It’s fine, it was just a little bump…….”

“Next time, tell your sister. She’ll take care of it so you don’t have to.”

“Okay.”

Halo replied like a well-behaved child.

Shamore listened to the entire conversation and thought to himself.

He thought to himself, “I need to find out more about the man who beat Halo up.

Ines and Halo talked about this and that.

They wrote frequently, but it had been more than two months since they’d last seen each other, and they had plenty to talk about.

“There’s a line at lunchtime because there aren’t enough restaurants.”

“Do you think we should build a new restaurant?”

Ines asked coldly.

It sounded like a joke to anyone else, but he meant it.

He would build an entire cafeteria for Halo.

“It’s okay, I’ll graduate in a month and a half anyway.”

Halo was a genius who jumped three grades in half a year.

When Ines gave him a look of pride, Halo asked.

“So, how’s everything going with your sister? Did she come to you …… or something?”

Ines’ expression stiffened slightly at the word “you.

I didn’t have to ask.

It was Ines and Halo’s father, Marquis Harbert, and his new family.

“No, I didn’t. What about you?”

“…… Me neither. I’m at the Academy, so we don’t run into each other.”

Halo answered a beat late, and Ines’s eyes narrowed.

Something must have happened for him to mention it.

“Marquis Harbert’s? Or…….’

Ines remembered something she had forgotten.

An illegitimate child, born of her father’s infidelity.

Her half-sister, now a young lady of the Marquis of Harbert’s household.

They hadn’t seen each other since their mother’s funeral.

Ines felt a twinge of pain in the back of her mind.

She must have bitten the inside of her lip too hard.

“I’ll have to find out later.

She shook the thought away.

Just then, the hired man entered the office and whispered “Moore” to Shamor.

Shamor reported back to Innes.

“Mr. Innes. The guard has called. They say they’ve found the stolen jewelry.”

The bait had been taken.

Ines rose to her feet.

“Halo, I’m sorry, but my sister has to go.”

“Where are you going?”

Ines replied with a smirk.

“To get my future lover.”
