Chapter 93
It was midnight.
Snore, snore.
After an exciting day, Sera slept soundly.
Roen tucked the covers around her and got out of bed.
She walked slowly towards the window.
The radiant moonlight permeated through it.
The night sky was filled with countless stars as if they were about to fall.
On a night like this, she would always remember that day.
The man she loved, and still loves, more than anyone.
‘Roen, I love you.’
Would always whisper sweet words of love to her,
‘I will always be by your side.’
The man who has always been her strongest support.
“… Jacob.”
Tears fell from Roen’s eyes as she looked up at the night sky.
At that moment, she saw something fluttering outside the window.
It was a red butterfly.
Roen wiped her tears and stared at it.
The crimson butterfly appeared to be created by magic.
She knew this because, when she was still with Jacob, she would often see him use this magic.
Eventually, the butterfly easily passed through the window and approached Roen.
Roen unconsciously held out her hand.
Once it touched her palm, the butterfly turned into a small piece of paper.
There were words written on the paper.
The sender was Elena.
‘This….’
Roen’s eyes widened after seeing the content.
She immediately looked out of the window, to the direction the butterfly came from.
But no one was there.

“Elena!!”
Jane gathered her skirt and ran down the stairs.
It has been a long time since her friend came to visit.
“Jane, how are you?”
Elena smiled, greeting Jane.
Meanwhile, Jane hugged her right away.
“Hic. Elena!”
Locking Elena in her arms, she burst into tears.
Elena was a bit startled, but then smiled softly and comforted her.
‘I anticipated it to some extent, but I didn’t expect her to cry.’
The only reason Jane reacted like this was because of the war.
Where the Empire and the Magic Tower clashed against the Black Continent’s monsters.
When Elena was preparing for war, she sent Jane a letter saying that she would also participate.
And that must have brought distress to Jane a lot.
She initially planned to meet Jane after the war, but Jane had been busy preparing for a new business lately.
So Elena delayed it until today.
“Hic. I’m really glad that Elena is safe.”
Even though they didn’t often see each other, she thought it would be okay since they frequently exchanged letters. However, Jane couldn’t help crying for a few minutes.
Meanwhile, Elena continued to mollify her friend, and when Jane somewhat calmed down, she headed to the drawing room.
Refreshments were prepared in advance in the drawing room, so it was immediately followed by tea time.
“Of course, I know that Elena is powerful enough for me not to worry, but war is always a vicious calamity…”
Jane muttered, blowing her nose into the handkerchief.
“I’m sorry for making you worry. Still, I came back fine.”
Elena had to assure her friend that she was all right.
Once Jane had completely stopped crying, they started talking about everyday things.
“I heard that Jane’s jewelry shop is popular in the Empire these days.”
Jane, who had a great eye for business, was now running several stores within the Empire.
From women’s clothing, men’s apparel, dessert shops, and the recently launched jewelry store.
Because of her successful ventures, Count Oswald’s wealth grew day by day.
“Oh, not that much.”
Jane’s cheeks turned red. Seeing her shy look, Elena smiled softly.
“It’s okay to talk comfortably when you’re with me.”
Jane smiled delicately at Elena’s words.
“More than that, I want to hear something from Elena.”
Jane widened her eyes at once, staring intently at her.
“I wonder what happened when you participated in the war, and is your relationship with Lexion coming along.”
Under her pondering gaze, Elena’s cheeks turned rosy this time.
Since they were close friends, Elena meant to discuss Lexion with her.
However, she couldn’t help but be embarrassed talking about it.
‘Did Jane feel like this way too?’
Well, it was understandable since she had also pried about Jane and her lover, Hayes.
Before disclosing about Lexion, Elena first confided about the war.
The situations before it started and the subsequent events after they won the battle.
And Elena also revealed about her being a spirit master.
“Oh my gosh. I knew Elena was a special person, but I had no idea you were a spirit master…”
“For now, you should keep it to yourself. Only the Archmage and Sir Jeremy in the Magic Tower know about this.”
“Oh. Yes. Absolutely! Don’t worry.”
Jane repeatedly nodded, still in awe of what she just learned.
Afterward, she opened up about her and Lexion.
“And I fell in love with Lexion.”
Jane’s eyes widened at the word love.
Seeing the wide smile on her, Elena lowered her gaze in embarrassment.
“I knew it! I thought it would be like this. Congratulations, Elena. You two get along really well.”
Jane blessed the two, her eyes sincere.
“Oh, thank you. Actually, I never thought it would be like this…”
“But what happened between the two of you that made it official?”
Jane was well aware of Elena’s thoughts.
So she was very curious about her change of heart.
Jane looked at Elena inquisitively.
Elena paused for a moment.
“Uh… It is true that I also had a crush on Lexion from the beginning.”
And because of what she experienced after being cursed, she had to be honest with her feelings.
‘If I told Jane about the curse mark, I’m sure she would be concerned…’
Since everything has already been resolved, it should be okay.
While worried, she also mentioned about her encounter with Killian.
“So many things have happened.”
Jane took Elena’s hand, looking slightly distressed.
“Yes. But I’m fine now, so don’t worry too much.”
“I know. But Elena, never forget that you are someone precious to us.”
“Okay.”
Jane’s expression softened at Elena’s reply.
She smiled and changed the topic.
“Oh, is that little girl named Sera?”
When they talked about the curse mark, Sera was also brought up.
“Yes. Fortunately, Sera is fine.”
“I see. By the way, does Elena know who Sera’s father is?”
As Elena explained how she met Sera, naturally, the story of Roen also came up.
Jane was very interested in that story.
“Yes. I know.”
“Oh. Now, all that remains is for Sera’s mom and her dad to meet.”
“Actually, I sent a messenger to Roen last night. I’ve set up a place for her to meet Jacob, that is, Sera’s father.”
“Oh, so?”
Jane’s eyes twinkled. As if she was reading a romance novel, her heart began to flutter.
“It’s up to Roen whether she would show up or not.”
Elena showed a forlorn smile.
Last night, after hearing Roen cry, Elena sent her a messenger.
I’ll let you meet Jacob.
However, the choice was entirely up to Roen.
‘There’s a good chance it won’t come out well, but…’
Furthermore, she had told Jacob that there was someone who wanted to meet him.
Fortunately, Jacob gladly accepted it.
Maybe Jacob noticed.
“That person called Roen will definitely show up.”
Jane muttered and smirked when Elena was momentarily absorbed in her thoughts.
“Really?”
“Yes. In my opinion, the two of them will definitely get along again.”
Jane crossed her arms, declaring proudly.
“I hope so too, but…”
She was worried that Roen and Jacob’s relationship would end completely because of her.
‘I guess it was all for nothing…’
Elena let out a small sigh.
The promised time to meet was in about an hour.
The meeting place was a café on the outskirts of the capital, which Elena had rented out for the pair.
“Elena.”
Reading the concern on her friend’s face, Jane took her hand.
“Yes?”
Jane smiled bitterly.
“If you’re really worried, how about going there?”
“But…”
“It’s not about meddling between the two of them, it’s just checking to see if Roen is there.”
While Elena was contemplating about it, Jane added.
“Their story is their own, I just want to make sure they met.”
In fact, what Elena was most curious about was whether the two would meet.
So she agreed.
‘… I feel like, for some reason, I’ve become a bridge to their love.’
*****
An hour later.
Flower, a cafe located on the outskirts of the capital.
There, two people appeared.
Two women with dark hair and black eyes, wearing more modest outfits than they normally wear.
The two tried to act naturally to not appear suspicious as much as possible. However, their gait was too stiff.
Luckily, there were only a few passers-by, so no one was concerned about the two women walking strangely.
After a while, the two women hid among the bushes in front of the cafe.
The cafe had all-glass windows so one could see the inside.
After they hid, Jacob appeared on the street.
Elena and Jane gasped and couldn’t help but swallow.
