Chapter 71
Elena had a problem.
It had been a few days since she and Lexion had decided to extend their temporary relationship, but the question hadn’t gone away.
‘What should I do?’
Elena rolled over on the bed, struggling.
‘Should I ask the Archmage…’
Elena shook her head.
She was very concerned about the spirits she had seen in the war.
In fact, when the Archmage had healed her, she didn’t know if she should ask her.
If Elena asked her how she knew that she was a Spirit Master, she would confirm that she really was a Spirit Master.
‘What should I do…’
As time went on, Elena’s thoughts became more complicated.
She was worried about revealing herself to the Archmage and Jeremy.
Since there was little information about it, it wasn’t easy for her to reveal what she was, so she kept it a secret. However, Elena felt she had reached the end.
Nevertheless, she was in distress about what would happen if she too became like the previous Spirit Master she saw at the war.
“Hah.”
Elena let out a long sigh.
[Master.]
Gor, who was silently watching his master roll over on the bed, called her.
He transformed himself into a size of a human.
He set Elena’s tea on the table and walked over to her.
[What is troubling you?]
At Gor’s comforting question, Elena grabbed his wooden hand.
“Gor. Actually, I am worried.”
[Yes, I know. If you are comfortable with me, we can talk about it.]
Gor smiled and sat down on the bed.
Elena also sat next to him.
“The biggest concern right now is… What should I do if I turn into something like that Spirit Master.”
[Hmm. You don’t have to worry about that thing.]
“Why?”
[Because no one has been engulfed by dark magic among the spirits except for the previous spirits.]
Although she heard his answer, Elena’s worries were not relieved.
He then added.
[Once the former Spirit Master appeared, the other children transformed.]
“Yes. That’s right.”
It was terrible for her when she heard the spirits’ screams.
But after receiving Elena’s power, the spirits returned to their original form and were now resting.
Meanwhile, since Gor was the Spirit King – even if he had seen the previous Spirit Master – he wasn’t stained by dark magic like the other spirits.
[The previous Spirit Master has a frail spirit that’s why they’re susceptible to dark magic after he came back from the Black Continent to save the other spirits.]
“Ah…”
[And for the soul to be sullied with dark magic, one must stay in Black Continent for a long time.]
At that moment, Elena was relieved. As long as one did not stay in the Black Continent for a long time, no disastrous change would occur.
“I see.”
[Yes. So don’t worry too much.]
“Yes. Thank you, Gor.”
With now a brighter countenance, Elena stroked Gor’s leaves.
“Oh yeah. But why did the former spirit master… Why did he become like that?”
[I’m not familiar with that part. However… Before the previous Spirit Master died, he left the spirits and me and headed to the Black Continent. It was because he wanted to save the spirits that were encroached on by Dark Magic.]
“Ah…”
[Fear of being tainted by Dark Magic, he left on his own and died there.]
“Why is such a good person….”
She was at a loss.
Unfortunately, the magic in the Black Continent only affected the living.
“Thanks for telling me, Gor.”
[No. It is an honor to be able to solve Master’s troubles.]
Elena looked at Gor and grinned.
The story of the former spirit master that Gor told her resonated with her.
Only because he loved the spirits and sacrificed for them.
‘How can such a warm person be stained with black magic….’
Elena shook her head.
When the war ended, the Spirit Master disappeared along with the monsters.
It was unfortunate, but she hoped his soul would find its way back.
****
The morning of the following day.
Elena woke up early in the morning.
She happily took a shower and had her meal.
Today, she was planning to visit Lexion.
It was also the last day of her vacation.
During the long vacation, Elena did nothing special.
All she did was walk around the tower, read a book, or take a nap.
And despite wanting to see Lexion, she couldn’t trouble him since she knew he was busy.
Nonetheless, she decided she wanted to spend the last day of her vacation with Lexion.
‘Because he’s my lover…’
Standing in front of the full-length mirror, immersed in thought, Elena suddenly came to her senses.
Her cheeks were flushed red.
‘Oh my gosh! I can’t believe I just thought about that.’
It felt strange to call Lexion her lover, even though they had only been together because of a contract.
Elena cleared her head and pretended nothing was wrong.
Still, she couldn’t leave the full-length mirror.
It’s been a long time since they last met. She wanted to look good for him.
Elena adjusted her clothes and walked towards the portal.
She thought to herself that it was just a simple meet-up.
However, recalling Lexion’s tears, Elena’s heart was in disarray.
To the extent that she had the impulse to ask him out on a date.
Elena crossed the portal with a smile.
Immediately, she saw Lexion surrounded by piles of papers.
Lexion – in-between conversations with Kerr – was surprised as soon as he saw Elena.
Then his cheeks turned red.
He was astounded to see Elena in a pure white dress, like a descending angel.
Lexion straightaway approached her, his eyes never leaving Elena.
Thump, Thump.
His heart was pounding loudly.
“Elena, you came?”
“Yes. But it seems Lexion has a hectic schedule?”
When Elena asked with a smile, Lexion shook his head.
Kerr, who was watching them, came over to Lexion’s side with a smirk.
“My lord, we’ve got a lot of work—”
But before Kerr could finish speaking, Lexion jabbed him on his side.
Kerr was forced to retreat.
Elena felt very sorry for Kerr.
But today, she couldn’t back down.
“If you’re not busy, would you like to go on a date with me?”
At her question, Lexion grinned from ear to ear.
“Yes!”
And Kerr had to swallow his tears.
*****
Elena waited in her room until Lexion was ready.
As always, her room was kept clean.
After casually looking around the room, Elena’s gaze suddenly turned to the garden.
A huge tree standing tall in the garden caught her eye.
‘That tree…’
It was the tree where she and Lexion had their heights measured when they were young.
‘At that time, he was smaller than me.’
She still couldn’t believe that the young Lexion was all grown up and became her lover.
While Elena was still staring from her window, absorbed in her memories, a knock came on her door.
And a dashing Lexion came walking in.
Although Lexion wore only a light jacket, shirt, and pants…
‘The shirt… I think it will explode.’
Elena’s gaze turned to his chest area, which was close to bursting.
“Does Elena find something weird?”
Feeling her stare, Lexion couldn’t help but ask. Elena then looked up.
“No! You look cool. Uh, let’s go.”
Elena blushed in embarrassment and passed Lexion’s side.
Lexion looked down at his chest and chuckled.
His woman was like an open book.
It was cute.
“Come with me, Elena.”
Lexion strode forward and took her hand.
He laced his fingers with hers.
As thick fingers interlocked with hers, Elena tensed up.
‘I don’t know what’s wrong with me.’
Was it because she hasn’t seen Lexion in a long time?
Every action he took made her nervous.
She was conscious of how intense his gaze was and even his breathing that was sinking into her ear.
And Lexion noticed her change.
He found it adorable when she was having trouble making eye contact with him that it made him want to kiss her right there and then.
But Lexion suppressed his desire.
If he kissed her like he wanted to, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself.
Not just her lips, but her whole body, kissing her, caressing her, and whispering love all night long.
It was obvious that he wanted such indecent thoughts to become reality.
However, if he reveal such obscene ideas, Elena would run away.
So Lexion had to be patient.
For her feelings to develop into something like his or even just a bit more.
He wished she could want him a bit.
And he hoped that time would come as soon as possible.
Longing for it, Lexion suppressed the blazing passion of his heart.
