Chapter 19
It was around evening when Elena returned to the mansion.
She thought, ‘I like the portal.’
Non-magicians had to take at least three days to reach the tower.
But when she used the portal, she was able to get back to doing all her things in just a few hours.
‘I am officially a magician belonging to the tower.’
Even after returning to the mansion, the smile persisted on Elena’s lips.
Everything went smoothly for her.
The sale of ‘Rose’ and the fact that she became a wizard.
‘I feel guilty because I’m so happy.’
It felt as if this happiness was going to disappear in an instant.
‘No. Don’t be pessimistic. You should enjoy the present.’
Elena made up her mind.
As soon as she returned to the mansion, she had a late dinner and took a bath.
After that, she prepared herself to sleep.
She was about to change into pajamas when a small yet noticeable knock was heard.
“Yes–”
The door opened before the question was even finished.
“Sister!”
Lexion ran to the side.
“Lexion. Was your day great today?”
Elena put her pajamas down on the bed and turned to him.
The child smiled and nodded his head.
“Yes!”
The expression on the child’s face, after he had answered brightly, hardened in an instant.
He said, “I heard that sister had been to the tower.”
“Yes. I went with Jeremy. I was also officially registered as a wizard. Of course, I won’t immediately leave.”
Elena replied with a smile.
Her face was overflowing with happiness.
However, Lexion’s eyes suddenly deepened.
“I see…”
He looked as if he had something more to say to her, but he soon backed away from her.
“I just came to say hello because my sister has returned. Then sleep well, sister.”
Lexion gestured before he left Elena’s room.
Although she liked the child’s attitude, she thought that it wouldn’t be a big deal for him.
She believed if Lexion had any complaints about her, he would say it.
‘It was like that last time when I added ‘Master’ next to his name, so it’ll be fine.’
Elena smiled and laid her body on the bed.
* * *
“Lexion, where have you been? It’s time to go to bed now.”
As the child entered his room, Sophie greeted him.
“I went to sister.”
“Then why is your expression look awful?”
Sophie asked, helping Lexion into his pajamas.
But Lexion didn’t answer.
Sophie tilted her head.
After Elena entered the mansion, Lexion became much brighter.
She wondered if it was because he wasn’t being harassed by Killian.
Except it wasn’t.
The main reason was Elena.
He would have this innocent laugh – apt for his age – whenever Lexion was with Elena.
Besides, for the first time, he even let her say his ‘name’.
‘He likes her so much… Why is the expression so bad today?’
Maybe he had an argument with Elena.
Sophie didn’t feel well.
‘Nevertheless, because children typically fight… It’ll be fine.’
After Sophie changed him into his pajamas, she put a blanket on Lexion, who went into bed and lay down.
“Have a nice dream.”
Creak—
Once Sophie left.
Left alone in the dark room, Lexion stared blankly at the ceiling.
‘Sister has officially become a wizard.’
When he thought of Elena’s smile, he would be happy too.
‘I’m glad…’
On one hand, he had a strange feeling.
He couldn’t put into a word what he was feeling.
‘I’m happy, but I hate it. I like it, but I’m sad.’
The exact reason wasn’t known even to Lexion himself.
It simply felt as if he had lost her to the tower.
‘What if sister goes away…?’
The tower was very far away.
Outside the Empire, in the desert.
In retrospect, it wasn’t that far away.
But he hated Elena leaving the mansion.
However, if he was to express his own feelings in his own words, he was afraid that Elena would hate him, so he could not speak.
‘I don’t want to be hated by sister.’
In the end, Lexion had no choice but to grumble alone.
* * *
Jane held a bowl in her arms, smiling vibrantly.
Today was the day she decided to paint with her first friend, Elena.
Even though she would be painting in a greenhouse rather than a garden at the end of winter.
Still, she was overjoyed to be doing something with Elena.
‘If I work hard, I will be able to become as cool as Elena.’
Jane went to the conservatory where she had dreamed of that day and where she had promised to meet Elena.
“Jane.”
But the moment she left the mansion, she heard a boy’s low voice.
“Master Killian.”
Jane was startled.
Last time, she met a troubling circumstance. It was the first time they had met since that incident.
“Where are you going like that?”
Killian smiled and asked Jane. Then he grabbed her hand at the same time.
“I-I decided to do painting with Elena.”
“Elena? You two seemed to have become good friends.”
‘Did they become close enough that they were already on a first-name basis, disregarding their last names?’
Killian’s expression darkened.
But the odd look in his eyes didn’t last long.
Soon he smiled again, as if he had ever been, and walked up to Jane.
“But I think it would be better for you to be closer to me than Elena. We are engaged.”
Killian was smiling, but Jane felt terrified.
She felt his hand tighten as she saw him slowly approaching.
Eventually, when her body touched the wall, her previous encounter with him flashed in her mind.
A breath that was forced upon her.
As she thrashed her body, fear began to spread throughout her body. However, she remembered Elena.
Jane closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them.
“Master Killian. I also want to get to know you, but it’s difficult in this way.”
“…What?”
At her words, Killian narrowed his brows. She has always been the Jane who had always been obedient and would listen to him.
She had always been submissive to him, except the last time when she was with Elena.
After all, she was his fiancée.
But today was different.
“Please don’t be so forceful.”
Jane said, holding back her fear. And she pushed Killian, who was holding her hand.
Killian was momentarily perplexed by her attitude.
“Forceful, I just…”
But he didn’t care and smiled again and squeezed Jane’s hand tightly.
At that moment, Jane’s necklace shone.
As the tiny, red jewels in her necklace gleamed, Jane opened her mouth, her eyes determined.
“This necklace is a magical tool for self-defense. It activates when I think it’s dangerous or I just want to use it. I don’t even know what kind of magic it contains. But if you force me beyond this, I will use it.”
Jane’s attitude to use magic on him shocked Killian.
Killian licked his lips and was forced to let her go.
As soon as her hands were free, Jane turned her body away from him.
And she headed to the greenhouse where Elena would be waiting.
‘I can do it too!’
A bright smile appeared on Jane’s face.
* * *
Elena’s expression as she entered her laboratory through her room wasn’t good.
Today was a long day without class, so she spent time alone with Jane.
She was the first to decide to paint in the greenhouse with her.
But as soon as Jane – who arrived after a while – entered the greenhouse, she sat down.
Surprised, Elena immediately supported Jane.
But her face was very bright.
As Elena listened to her – just before arriving at the greenhouse – she understood why Jane was elated.
After that, Elena let Jane take a break before they started painting.
By the time they were finished painting, it was already evening, so they returned.
‘Jane said she used the magic tool that I gave her as self-defense to drive out Killian.’
While Jane was willing to change, it left Elena worried.
‘Killian thinks Jane and Lexion are weak.’
He had never done anything like that to Elena.
‘Because I faced Killian from the beginning.’
Elena bit her lip.
‘If those characters who Killian considered to be weak responded strongly…’
It would incite something terrible.
Elena was feeling uneasy for some reason.
‘Because I don’t know where Killian is going.’
She immediately sat down at her desk.
For her to come up with a plan, she needed the aid of Magic Tower to master her magical powers.
She has to formulate a plan to defeat Killian.
* * *
Elena struggled to get herself out of bed.
Since she returned from the tower.
Her life became hectic.
She did it for Jane and Lexion because she had to defeat Killian.
But even the plan didn’t work out.
‘I have to properly make an appeal about Killian’s shitty side so that anyone has no choice but to admit his horrendous side.’
Especially to the Duke of Halos.
Although the Duke was pleased with Killian, the Duke was from a military family, and he had no choice but to bend his arms inward.
In order for the Duke of Halos to expel Killian, there had to be solid evidence.
‘Evidence, evidence… Hah.’
As long as there was a way to obtain a piece of evidence, a plan would be established in no time.
But there was no way to get evidence.
‘It would be nice if I’m able to record it.’
Suddenly, an idea flashed in her mind as she wearily washed her body.
“Ah!”
There was a way!
