How Can You Pay Back The Kindness I Raised With Obsession?

Only then did Elliot, who learned why the witch was talking nonsense, say nothing. It felt like a blow to his head. Because of that, he could feel the smell of her soap, and he just watched blankly as the witch approached.

“When you return,” she said, “I hope you will include time spent together with the children in His Highness’ tight schedule. Not just at mealtime.”

“…”

“During that time, you have to forget about work and be the older brother of the children.”

The witch reached  her hand toward his chest.

“I’d like to cast a fortune spell on you, but you won’t like it…”

Her slender fingers fiddled with the silver locket that was sticking out of his shirt.

“I hope you have a safe trip under the protection of God.”

* * *

“Hmm…”

As Daniel put down his spoon, the chef who was watching asked.

“How is it.”

“It is definitely different.”

“As I said, they are cooked side by side, identically.”

As if to prove that, the two stews were identical in color and consistency. However, it was definitely suspicious that only the taste and smell were different.

“Maybe she put the potion on while anybody was looking?”

“Drugs or something.”

Harold shook his head as the servants gathered behind the two of them like a flock of sheep helped each other out.

“If I had taken my eyes off it for a moment, there must have been a gap to put it in.”

“Then maybe she used magic? Black magic or…”

The moment someone insinuated that, while everyone’s faces turned pale, only Daniel shook his head.

“There is absolutely no black magic.”

As soon as he said that, everyone was relieved. There was no servant who did not know that Daniel had holy power.

“Then what is it?”

As soon as the chef earnestly asked, everyone looked worried again.

“If it’s not good for the body, I’m worried about the comfort of the three of them…”

Everyone was worried about it all evening, and finally decided to announce it.

“His Highness the Grand Duke must be busy with his campaign tomorrow, but as Sir Daniel said you all are worrying for nothing.”

Everyone knew. That the Grand Duke would never hire a nanny who would harm his younger siblings.

“Since His Highness personally brought her, we tried to believe her too…”

Daniel nodded and headed for the safe in the corner of his kitchen. He didn’t even have to listen to what was to follow. Because he was of the same mind. He trusted Elliot’s judgment and intuition, but since the witch was evil and notorious throughout the empire, he couldn’t stop his worries.

‘But…’

He thought that unless the witch was an idiot, she couldn’t be fooling around with her cooking when she’d be exposed like that. No matter what the rational judgment was, the agitation of the servants had to be put to rest. Before the anxiety spread to all corners of the Grand Duchy.

He took all the drugs, potions, and dozens of poison detection reagents out of the safe and examined the witch’s stew. But none of them responded.

“I don’t even feel any magic power.”

Originally, objects touched by witches were bound to leave little by little of her magical powers, like fingerprints. It was felt insignificant even in cooking, but it was an amount that could never affect the person who consumed it.

‘I don’t feel the magic, but…’

He could feel a different energy. He couldn’t define what it was, but it was absolutely not an evil energy.

‘I feel the warmth, but I also feel nostalgic…’

However, he didn’t say this because he didn’t want the servants to be agitated again.

“The witch’s cooking is not dangerous at all. I hope that clears up your doubts.”

Only then did Daniel move toward the entrance of the kitchen, leaving the people with faces full of questions, even though they were relieved.

‘Anyway, what kind of energy is it?’

It was the moment when he opened the kitchen door with his mind distracted.

“Ah…”

“…”

The witch stood at the door. Her face was as red as the tomatoes in the basket she held.

“Ah, uh, uh, check the ingredients for tomorrow…”

“Ah, hey listen…”

“I’m sorry!”

Daniel motioned for her to come in, but the witch threw the basket on her floor and scrambled away.

“…”

Was it some kind of freezing magic? In the midst of a chilly atmosphere in the kitchen, everyone froze for a long time and could not say anything.

The kitchen became noisy when Daniel shyly cleared his throat, moved the basket to the countertop, and left.

“…Are you sure she heard it?”

“How could she not hear that?”

“I think she heard everything. It was a sullen face…”

They were sorry for doubting her, but they let it go. Everyone sighed anxiously, but the assistant cook, who had said the thing about the drugs, muttered, sweeping his chest.

“Phew… I thought she would turn us all into frogs.”

“Hey, watch your words.”

While everyone scolded the rude young man, Harold covered his contemplative face with a large hand like a pot lid.

“Damn it, I did something stupid.”

* * *

[What’s the matter? What’s the matter?]

As she was lying curled up on her bed in the cabin, Lady who was sitting back to back with her asked.

“Yes? Nothing happened. I’m just tired.”

She tried to pretend she was normal as much as she could, but her acting was terrible, so it must have been obvious.

Even though they both knew it was a lie, they didn’t ask any more. Lady turned her head towards Hazel and rested her heavy head on her neck. Daisy, who was sitting in front of her nose, started licking her cheek.

The cat’s tongue was rough, so she had no choice but to laugh.

‘Still, I have you guys.’

She hugged her friends who comforted her in their own way. She laughed for a while but at the end she went back to the same place like a boomerang.

“No matter how much I tried, it just didn’t taste the same.”

When Mr. Harold said, “Let’s make stew together today,” she ignored it. But now she couldn’t.

‘I’m sure it was the same, but why is it different?’

It was as shocking to her as it was to them.

‘Do I really have any abilities?’

To the point of seriously saying that she put drugs inside. It means that the food was that delicious, so in a way, it was highly praised. And since they were curious about why it was different, she understood why her cook was being tested.

Still, she couldn’t help but feel sad. They were still suspicious of her. It was a complete illusion that sincerity worked. No, she was too hasty. There’s no way they could let go of their guard so easily.

She was too stupid. That place was in a fairy tale, so she really expected a fairy tale-like story.

There was a time when she asked because it was amazing that people were good to her. ‘Aren’t you worried that I’ll harm you?’

The answer was the same.

“His Highness the Grand Duke is someone who never does anything that could harm his younger siblings. How picky are the teachers who only meet for an hour a week.”

“His Highness must have a deep meaning. Because he is like that.”

So, the reason people were kind to her was purely because of the trust the Grand Duke had built up step by step among the servants.

“Since His Highness the Grand Duke believes in you, shouldn’t we believe in you too?”

But even the Grand Duke didn’t believe in her… She pouted her lips as she recalled how he had aroused suspicion even after she gave him a present during the day.

‘Why did I possess an evil woman? It’s unfair.’

She was thirsty for a drink. That was a fairytale, so she decided to live a healthy life.

“After all…”

It was a time when she was contemplating whether to go pick up the strawberry wine hidden deep in the cupboard.

Ding, ding.

A clear bell sounded from the living room. She went out and saw a broom swinging a bell. That meant someone was knocking on the door to the nanny’s room.

When I went back to my room and opened the door, Mr. Harold was standing there.

“Miss Hazel.”

He took off his long cook hat and spoke politely.

“I am really sorry.”

She waved her hand in surprise at the unexpected apology.

“Oh, no. I understand. You did it because you were worried about the Grand Duke’s family.”

“You heard that too.”

Mr. Harold wiped his face and spoke in a heavy voice.

“It wasn’t malicious, but I realized too late that the method was wrong. Everyone is sorry. It’s something I should have asked myself first…”

“I wouldn’t have been able to give you an answer even now. So the test would have been done anyway.”

In fact, she, who had already relieved her disappointment at the sincere apology, said that there was nothing to be sorry about, but Harold’s complexion did not improve.

“Actually, I also reflected and that wasn’t everything.”

“Yeah?”

“I learn by breaking my ego, but I don’t know if I wanted to find the reason why I couldn’t do it no matter what I did, not me, but Miss Hazel.”, he let out a deep sigh, “I was so obsessed with finding the reason that I did something ugly. You told me I was cool, but I’m sorry I let you down.”

Seeing Harold repeatedly apologizing for what might have been unfounded jealousy made her feel embarrassed. It may have been a well-founded guess.

“I think you deserved it. I also thought that I might have abilities that I didn’t know about.”

“The God of Cooking has blessed you.”

At Harold-san’s joke, she finally smiled and held out her hand.

“I will accept your apology.”

“Miss Hazel, who is so generous with forgiveness, is a wonderful person. What a shame.”

He shook my hand and held out the wooden box he had been holding in his other hand.

“Actually, it’s shameless to ask for forgiveness with your bare mouth.”

“Ah, even if you don’t give me this…”

“I don’t like the feeling of being in debt, so please accept it.”

Mr. Harold forced her to hold the box as he waved his hand. She was surprised when she opened the one the size of her palm. No matter how you look at it, these four pieces were placed on soft straw and soft fabric…
