As if it were a one-night dream, several days had passed since Jeffrey’s visit. I felt a little disappointed because Jeffrey suddenly left without saying goodbye, but after seeing that he was doing well, I thought that we would have another opportunity to meet in the future. Moreover, as promised earlier, Jeffrey came to visit me. He had promised to come again, so Jeffrey would definitely come again. After a brief day of rest, I returned to focusing every day on sword training and learning how to use my spiritual powers. Of course, I didn’t forget to take liberal arts lessons from Viscountess Maynard. Sometimes Adrian came to visit and we had a hectic time sparring. When Adrian starts sparring, he has to repeat it over and over again until he gets tired, so on those days, I also ended up completely exhausted. And today, Adrian’s visit was not scheduled, and it was a day like any other day, having already finished the liberal arts class with Viscountess Maynard in the morning. However, today, unlike usual, I felt a little nervous because I had heard from Priest Lynel that it would be a good idea to try something new. In the meantime, he learned how to finely control divine power, how to cure diseases with divine power, and how to apply divine power to a sword. While there wasn’t much to talk about at the time, he started off by saying that he was going to try something new today. In a tone that made me look forward to it. So, on the way to the temple today, my heart pounded.
[Mirabell, don’t you think you’ve been neglecting me too much lately?]
While I’m lost in thought. Vivre grumbled at me in a very grumpy voice. I rested my chin and looked out the window, pretending that nothing had happened. If I tried to talk into empty space, I would be treated like a crazy person. Of course, there were only me, Kalina, and Anita in the carriage, but there was still no harm in being careful. I answered Vivre’s words with a fairly calm expression on my face.
‘You’ve been busy these days. Besides, nothing special happened to Daniel either. I’m really sorry for being negligent.’
[Great!]
Vivre snorted his voice and refused to talk.
‘I’ll pay more attention next time. Come to think of it, Priest Lynel said he was going to try something new today. Do you know what that is?’
[I’m guessing, but I’ll know better when I go.]
Vivre grumbled but answered my question.
‘I’m sorry, really. I won’t do that next time.’
[Please forgive me especially this time.]
Vivre said patronizingly. I burst out laughing at Vivre’s words.
“Why are you doing this, little lady?”
I looked out the window and suddenly smiled and Anita looked at me with her eyes wide. As always, whenever Anita, with her big eyes like bells, was surprised, she was so cute that she couldn’t help but laugh. I smiled softly at Anita.
“Just… Because Anita is so cute.”
“Yes? Me?!”
Anita was embarrassed and cupped her red cheeks. When Kalina and I burst out laughing, Anita looked at me with her eyes wide open.
“Little girl, don’t keep teasing me.”
“Okay. Sorry. But it’s true that it’s cute.”
I felt like I had a lot to apologize for today. The carriage was heading towards the temple of Goddess Duana at a speed that was not too fast.
* * *
How long did it run? As I was thinking about this and that, I was able to quickly arrive at the Duana Temple. She looked at the familiar sight of the temple and prepared to get off her carriage.
“Little lady, we have arrived at the Duana Temple.”
At that moment, the carriage stopped, and the driver announced my arrival through the window on the driver’s seat. As I was waiting for the door to open, the carriage door soon opened. Outside, a paladin I had seen a few times was extending her hand towards me. I held his hand and got down safely under the carriage. Since we always arrived at the same time, a Lynel priest was always there to meet us when we arrived.
“May the Goddess’ grace be with you.”
As we got off the carriage, Priest Lynel welcomed us with a friendly voice.
“May the Goddess’ grace be with you.”
I also put my hands together and gave the Lynel priest the greeting used at the Duana Temple. Priest Lynel received my greeting with a smiling face.
“Thank you. Did you have a hard time coming?”
“No, not at all. You know. I come here every day. Priest Lynel, have you been waiting for us long?”
“No. It just came out. Let’s go inside.”
The Lynel priest quickly began leading us inside. We began to walk into the Duana Temple as we were used to. Of course, even without the Lynel priest to guide me, I didn’t have to get lost inside the temple because I had been visiting the temple for nearly two months already. If I ever lost it, I could ask anyone and they would at least give me directions. I looked around and then glanced at the Lynel priest. He was a person whose expression rarely changed, but today he looked brighter than usual. I wondered if it was because of what I had to do today.
“Priest Lynel, but what is this new attempt you mentioned yesterday? Are you doing something different today?”
I couldn’t overcome my curiosity and asked the Lynel priest. The Lynel priest looked down at me with a grinning face.
“It’s still a secret. I’ll tell you when I get inside.”
“Why? If…”
Will we learn something that can help us fight against the evil dragon Krypso? Isn’t that why they say it’s a secret in front of Kalina and Anita?
[Well, since I don’t know if there is such a method, I guess that’s not the case.]
Vivre said to me who was curious. Although I was a little disappointed, I followed the Lynel priest, thinking that there must be a reason for keeping it so secret. His mouth was almost dry due to the curiosity welling up inside him. He had been saying for a few days now that he needed to try something new, and only today was he finally getting the answer that he thought he could do it on his own. Because I am a saint chosen by the guardian dragon Vivre, my divine power is one of the best in the temple, but I was curious as to what I could only learn later even with such divine power.
“You will know when you go. It’s not scary, so you don’t have to worry too much.”
The Lynel priest spoke in a meaningful tone again, so I pursed my lips and headed inside the temple. Finally, we arrived at a place to practice spiritual power. I thought he was going to go inside like usual, but the Lynel priest turned around.
“You two cannot enter today. Instead, please rest comfortably and we will come back after the training is over.”
“Do you mind if we don’t go in together, little lady?”
Since we always went inside together, Kalina looked at me with concern. I nodded at her, calming my trembling heart as I thought she was teaching me something to fight against the evil dragon Krypso, just as I thought a moment ago.
“You know. Where is this place? It’s okay, I’m waiting outside.”
“Yes, I understand. Little lady.”
“I’ll be waiting too, little lady!”
After hearing Kalina and Anita’s answers, she looked at the Lynel priest.
“Let’s go now.”
“Yes. That will be fine.”
She entered the training area with the Lynel priest. While her heart was pounding in anticipation of finally learning something crucial, an uninvited guest came into view.
“Are you here?”
Among the priests, he was quite old. I knew his face well.
“Priest Pleon.”
[It’s Pleon.]
I also welcomed Priest Pleon, but Vivre especially welcomed Priest Pleon. It was worth it. Because before Vibr came with me he went with Priest Pleon. Although it would be difficult to call Pleon a saint at that time, Pleon would still be welcomed.
“May the Goddess’ grace be with you.”
“May the Goddess’ grace rest with you, Priest Pleon.”
I greeted him as did Priest Pleon.
“Vivre said he was happy to see you.”
“Are you Vivre?”
Pleon looked surprised, but then smiled kindly.
“Thank you for telling us.”
Priest Fleon bowed his head to me and then immediately looked back at Priest Lynel.
“We are ready to go.”
“Already?”
Priest Lynel asked in surprise at what Priest Pleon said. Priest Pleon nodded his head in approval.
“Saint, now all I need is you to be complete.”
“What is it? Could you please explain in detail? I wasn’t given any explanation the entire time I came here. “You have to tell me what’s going on so I can follow you.”
As I blinked and asked, Priest Pleon looked at Priest Lynel.
“Didn’t you explain, Lynel Priest?”
His tone was reprimanding, as if he should explain something before coming in, but Priest Lynel smiled softly and answered.
“There are people accompanying the saint outside. How can I tell you?”
After hearing Priest Lynel’s words, Priest Pleon quickly agreed.
“Ah, but… okay.”
Then he turned to me and bent his knees so that he was at eye level with me. He looked at me with calm eyes and opened his mouth.
“What I will teach you today is how to embody the guardian dragon Vivre.”
