Global Gamification: God-level Closed Beta Player

Chapter 30: Divine Being, The Right Thing to Do

A fat sheep had finally come knocking!

Zhen Yu knew as soon as she saw Cui Xueren’s jittery appearance; that Sun Yuan would earn a huge sum of points.

“10,000 points each!” Sun Yuan named his price. “How many do you want?”

“It’s too expensive; can’t you lower the price?”

Cui Xueren was bitter. Even though he knew that he had to pay an exorbitant amount, the price was too much.

It’s too vexing.

If we were still going about our everyday life, I would have had you expelled.

“Not possible,” Sun Yuan grumbled, “I can’t be bothered to play twenty questions with you; leave if you aren’t going to buy anything!”

“B-But I only have 25,000 points!”

Cui Xueren gave up all thoughts of attacking Sun Yuan when he noted the baseball bat, spear, and his large physique.

There was no way he could win!

“Bring up your game panel and let me have a look.”

Hell would have frozen before Sun Yuan would trust him.

“Fine, Fine. I’ve got 31,000 points in total, but I’ve to save some for the students who donated the points to me.” Cui Xueren said resignedly, “It would be a problem for me to squander all the points.”

“Who would have thought you forced that many students to donate their points? Well, I’ve decided to increase the price. It’s now 31,000 points for three mushrooms!” Sun Yuan sneered.

“How can you raise the price as you like?” Cui Xueren was so angry that he wanted to vomit blood.

“You can always find someone else if you’re unhappy with my price,” Sun Yuan laughed.

It wasn’t that Cui Xueren hadn’t thought about doing so, but what if he couldn’t find another seller?

He understood from yesterday’s experience that honeydew mushrooms were scarce and entirely dependent on luck.

“It’s not as if you worked hard for your points; you got them through unfair means. You won’t even feel the pinch in spending them. But Cui Xueren, you’ll die without the mushrooms,” Zhen Yu said in persuasion.

“Hmph, fine. I’ll give,” Cui Xueren said dejectedly.

Bringing up their game interface, Cui Xueren keyed in 30,000 points and locked in the trade but noticed that Sun Yuan didn’t accept the trade.

“31,000 points,” Sun Yuan said, “I won’t accept anything less.”

“You…”

Cui Xueren endured his urge to throw expletives at Sun Yuan and reluctantly added 1,000 points before Sun Yuan accepted the trade.

In the blink of an eye, he received all of Cui Xueren’s ‘hard earned’ points.

The outcome was heart-wrenching for Cui Xueren.

“Where are my mushrooms?” he asked.

Sun Yuan brought out three honeydew mushrooms from his backpack and threw them over to Cui Xueren.

He hastily caught them and only breathed a sigh of relief when he was sure they were genuine.

“I look forward to working together again if the opportunity allows for it,” Sun Yuan said as he waved goodbye.

31,000 points could get him 31 attribute stones.

He currently had 10 dexterity, 6 strength, 7 intelligence, 9 constitution, and 6 willpower.

With 12 attribute stones, he could bring all 5 of his main stats up to 10. The other 19 stones can be used to increase his dexterity and strength afterwards.

This would allow Sun Yuan to trump over a group of opponents even without the Street Fighter gloves.

Great!

Sun Yuan was delighted at the thought.

It was impossible for him to amass the huge number of points from fighting monsters; only a profiteer could support such spending.

However, he understood that such opportunities are hard to come by, and he probably wouldn’t be able to profit like this again.

In a few more days, the players would realize that the society they knew had already collapsed, and survival depended on points. They wouldn’t be pushed around by the school leaders then.

“Where are you guys heading to?”

Although Cui Xueren couldn’t wait for Sun Yuan to die, his only thoughts now were to stick close to him.

Sun Yuan’s exceptional combat prowess would ensure his safety if they were together.

“Vice department head Cui?”

A bespectacled male student came toward him.

“What are you doing here?”

Cui Xueren scrunched his brows. This student was the student union’s chairman of the faculty of foreign language, Zhou Kai.

“I was out searching for mushrooms when I saw you!” Zhou Kai explained.

That was a lie. During his four years at the university, Zhou Kai interacted with Cui Xueren on multiple occasions. He knew how Cui Xueren desired power and money and liked to put on airs.

He would never act if he could push the work onto someone else. With the students at his command, he had no reason to act, but Zhou Kai discovered that he secretly left the group in the middle of the night.

He was definitely planning something.

Because of that, Zhou Kai shadowed him and saw how he spent all his points on three honeydew mushrooms.

“How selfish!”

Zhou Kai maintained a respectful look on his face as he cursed in his heart. He wanted to snatch Cui Xueren’s mushrooms after Sun Yuan left.

“Oh!” Cui Xueren nodded. He was thick-skinned and felt no embarrassment even when caught in the act, “Sun Yuan, why don’t we go together? An extra person will make the trip safer.”

“No need, we’re fine,” Sun Yuan rejected and looked towards Zhou Kai, “Are you snatching his mushrooms or not? I’ll even help.”

He had previously met Zhou Kai on the basketball court, where they had an argument that ended sourly.

“Huh?” Cui Xueren was momentarily stunned before he turned to escape.

Zhou Kai was similarly startled but reacted quickly as he pounced on Cui Xueren, pushing him to the ground.

Rotten leaves were sent flying into the air as they struggled on the ground.

Peng! Peng! Peng!

Zhou Kai pummeled Cui Xueren’s head with a clenched fist.

“How dare you attack a school leader! I’m going to expel you from the university!” Cui Xueren roared but resorted to biting Zhou Kai’s ear when he realized that his threat wouldn’t work.

Neither of them had learned how to fight and were hitting each other barbarically without any techniques.

Zhou Kai wasn’t ruthless enough and suffered at the hands of Cui Xueren, who utilized his body weight to pin Zhou Kai to the ground before blinding him in an eye.

The severe pain and the warm blood flowing down onto his lips awakened the darkness hidden within Zhou Kai. He was young and strong; once his switch was flipped, he could easily overpower the potbellied Cui Xueren, who indulged in alcohol.

“Let’s stop fighting, or Sun Yuan will be the only winner in the end!” Cui Xueren growled.

The one-eyed Zhou Kai wouldn’t have any of it. He took out a sharpened stick from his pocket and stabbed it fiercely into Cui Xueren’s face.

Chi! Chi! Chi!

His cheeks were pierced through as blood splattered over the two of them.

“How miserable!” Zhen Yu couldn’t watch anymore and turn away.

Sun Yuan furrowed his brows.

Zhou Kai’s stick was the length of a pencil. Although sharpened, it was useless when hunting animals but unexpectedly effective when used on humans.

It was evident that he didn’t follow Cui Xueren with kind intentions.

Cui Xueren stopped struggling and collapsed lifelessly when Zhou Kai stuck the stick into his neck, where it destroyed his carotid arteries.

Pant! Pant!

Zhou Kai panted heavily as his body trembled. He was flustered because it was his first time taking a life but was overjoyed when he spotted the honeydew mushrooms on the ground and moved to recover them.

“What now?” Zhen Yu softly asked. This was murder; he would be thrown into prison if society still functioned.

“What do you think?” Sun Yuan sighed.

Knowing that he couldn’t stay there any longer, Zhou Kai bolted as soon as he recovered the mushrooms, but Sun Yuan was too fast. He caught up with a few strides and brandished his baseball bat.

Peng!

Zhou Kai was knocked to the ground.

“Why are you attacking me? Didn’t you say you’ll help me?” Zhou Kai was confused.

“Would Cui Xueren have run if I didn’t say so?” Sun Yuan asked in return.

“Y-You black-hearted b*stard!”

There was no medicine for regret when he had already fallen for it hook, line, and sinker.

He originally planned to snatch Cui Xueren’s mushrooms after Sun Yuan and the girl had left.

It would have prevented the fisherman from benefitting when the snipe and the clam fought.

But Zhou Kai was forced to attack when Cui Xueren started to run. He couldn’t stop the moment they started fighting.

“C-Can you let me go if I give up the mushrooms?” Zhou Kai pleaded.

“You murdered a man.” Sun yuan glanced at Cui Xueren, who had passed on, “And the mushrooms weren’t yours in the first place.”

“Enough with your high-sounding moralism. Would you have acted as such if I hadn’t offended you at the basketball court?” Zhou Kai sneered, “I’m sure you got these mushrooms through unjust means too, right? Aren’t we the same? We’re both murderers.”

“Don’t you dare compare yourself with senior; we relied on the fragrant pig for these mushrooms,” Zhen Yu slighted.

Only idiots like you would fight and kill.

“Fragrant pig?” Zhou Kai was bewildered.

“Enough, it’s time for you to die!” Sun Yuan was prepared to act.

As the game progresses, there will come a time when he must kill. He will be in deep trouble if he doesn’t get past that hurdle right now.

“Sun Yuan, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have tried to oppress you with my status as the chairman of the student union. I won’t do it anymore, so can you let me go, please?”

Zhou Kai cried up a storm with tears and mucus dripping from his face when he saw Sun Yuan brandishing his baseball bat.

Sun Yuan paused momentarily but continued to swing the bat towards Zhou Kai’s head.

Peng!

His head exploded.

“He should’ve been prepared for death the moment he killed someone.”

Zhen Yu didn’t object to killing murderers.

“I’ve avenged you, Cui Xueren. You’ve gotten your points worth.”

Sun Yuan flicked his wrist to get rid of the blood on the bat.

He didn’t feel any psychological pressure when he killed Zhou Kai. If he could kill Cui Xueren, he could kill another person. Ridding the world of a scourge like him was a good deed.

Dingdong!

[You have received two new reward notifications, please check them as soon as possible.]

“It can’t be. Do those divine beings enjoy watching a bloodfest?”

Sun Yuan frowned as he brought up his game interface and tapped the message icon.

[The Extravagant Little Princess is satisfied with your performance and rewards you with dog food, looking forward to your future performance.]

[The Righteous Dark Demonic God appreciates your shamelessness and rewards you with a divine coin, looking forward to your future performance.]

Sun Yuan was tongue-tied when he read the two messages.

When was I being shameless?

I was upholding justice, okay?

Can’t you see the righteous aura I’m giving off?

“Senior, you got rewarded again!” Zhen Yu was envious.

“I rather not receive these rewards.” Sun Yuan smiled bitterly.

“Puff!”

Zhen Yu covered her mouth as she snickered. She had seen the message sent by the Righteous Dark Demonic God.

“Don’t mind the details, senior. Since the rich divine being was willing to reward you with a divine coin, you should just bear with it.” Zhen Yu consoled him, “On the other hand, the Extravagant Little Princess complimented you heavily but only rewarded you with dog food.”

“Let’s go!”

Sun Yuan no longer bothered with the rewards.

They left in search of Zhuo Wen but soon heard a loud call for help.

“Help!”

It was a male voice.

Sun Yuan hurriedly sprinted towards the voice.
