Like an idiot, she almost passed out saying that she would treat her well again. The maid had a purpose. She knew that the maids go around the gym every time they go to the inn to catch a glimpse of the knights, even if by chance. They should have been content with just watching from afar, but today she was going to run an errand all the way to the gymnasium, so she was sure they wanted to go in with her and take a look around as much as they wanted with the excuse of helping.

“I can go alone.” she said to the maid, who was full of expectations, with a bulging heart.

To be honest, it was unreasonable for her to carry a picnic basket with a huge amount of food and heavy glasses by myself.

“What? Alone? How do you say you carry this alone?”

The maid also raised her voice in surprise, as if she thought she was cheating. However, she obediently did not want to satisfy that greed, perhaps because her thoughts were as young as her young body. As she whimpered and carried the basket behind her back, “I hate him!” A high-pitched voice rang out.

‘I hate you too.’

Shrugging her shoulders, she stepped out of the building. And immediately put a lightweight magic on the picnic basket.

‘Now this is cotton candy that only looks scary, hahaha!’

She giggled like a bad boy and moved quickly. For some reason, he seemed to be using magic more effectively than when he was an informant.

‘Honestly, when I was learning from the master, I thought he would teach me a lot while not entrusting me with difficult missions.’

After a long walk, realizing that learning is something left over, as soon as I entered the gymnasium, I cast off the magic again.

“Brother, Jack!”

As soon as his name was called, Jack came running.

“I will listen.”

‘Also…’

Jack was truly a knight among knights. She expected him to help me and thought she was good at dispelling the magic. Jack looked at her with wide eyes, perhaps surprised by the heavier weight than she thought, but she pretended not to notice. Instead, she saw Allen standing in the distance, and she was uneasy about how she was frowning on her.

‘I bet you didn’t really call me to bother me…?’

As she approached him suspiciously, Allen, who had a bloody look on her face, suddenly blew her whistle and put her leg on her leg.

“Are you like that too?”

What are you saying, little boy? She was dumbfounded by the infinitely light teasing that made her shout at any moment. But seeing Jack standing next to him turn red, she felt sorry for him. Jack was an innocent boy, unlike her, who had often heard more comments from Jade, such as, “You seduced the master,” “You flirt,” etc. Besides, she couldn’t have caused any misunderstanding because of me.

‘What if I get dumped without even confessing to Diana after rumors spread that my relationship with women is complicated?’

Personally, among the men who had a crush on Diana, she thought Jack, who was cut in half, would be much better than the thief-like prince with a 12-year age difference. Of course, if you put it like that, he would follow the most enthusiastically, and he would be the best in his age, a minor in Faerun, but still, what was good about being friends?

“Not at all! It’s kind of hard to hear that.”

‘This is my friendship and a sign of loyalty!’

After she drew a line through Allen, she looked back at Jack with a ‘good job!’ But Jack was looking at her with a face that was redder than before, with a strange expression she had never seen before. It’s like you’re confused about something, and it’s like you’re angry.

‘What kind of kid is making such a complicated expression?’

A child should be like a child, but it was clear that he had grown up quickly because he had suffered too much.

‘It must be more difficult to fall in love with the princess of a duke who is loved by everyone in the future.’

It was a time when she felt sorry for herself and felt sad. All of a sudden Allen giggled and she took her drink from the picnic basket and handed it to Jack.

“Jack, you look very thirsty.”

“…”

Jack glared at the glass without saying a word, then emptied it in one gulp.

‘I’m not hot at all.’

While coming here, the weather was nice and cool, so it felt good to take a walk. But Jack seemed to be really thirsty. Then Allen sat her down nearby and handed her his sandwich.

“Eat. Watch while you eat.”

Allen’s generous treatment made me suddenly feel better, so I forgot my doubts about him a moment ago and thought while accepting a sandwich.

‘A person who gives food, a good person!’

And just a moment ago, she watched Allen go to sparring, dragging Jack, who had a bad complexion. For some reason, Jack’s eyes seemed to be on fire. As expected, the two seemed to train hard with a sense of rivalry.

‘Ah, the future of the Lexion Knights is bright even in this lifetime.’

She thought about it.

* * *

After the sparring, Allen, who had an afternoon class, went home first. She waited for Jack to organize his weapons before handing the remaining sandwiches and fruit to Jack. The knights’ meals were not going to come out well, but it was because they were growing up and they might be hungry at night.

‘It’s better if I get to know them by sharing them with other knights.’

Maybe it’s because she couldn’t get along with the servants before. When she saw Jack, she always thought of herself in the guild in the past. She didn’t, but she thought it would be nice for Jack to get along with his teammates. Fortunately, Jack accepted without saying anything. He said that he would take her there, and he carried a picnic basket instead, which she wasn’t too happy about.

‘The sparring looked very intense.’

Allen and Jack were both about 10 years old, so it was a big mistake to think that sparring would be child’s play. She could go back much more comfortably if she used the lightweight magic, but Jack had to carry it hard and go back to the dorm, which was a waste of time and energy in many ways.

‘It would be nice if I could take a little more rest at that time and organize today’s sparring.’

But stubborn Jack wouldn’t listen to me saying he could go alone. In the end, she, who was chasing after Jack, blankly began to recall the sparring scene she had just seen.

‘It seems that Jack improved much faster than expected, but he still had many loopholes.’

Of course, she couldn’t help it because the progress she had learned so far was different. What was a bit surprising was that Jack, who was supposed to be calm, seemed to make a lot of mistakes, perhaps because he had a quick-tempered personality. Well, considering the two people’s swordsmanship reviews in their previous lives, it was already predictable. Both Jack and Allen were called geniuses of the century and masters of swordsmanship, but their tendencies were completely different. Most judged that Jack’s sword was fast and sharp, while Allen’s sword was heavy and deadly. Seeing Allen’s playful and angry personality, she wondered if something was wrong, but she was surprised to see that he had a serious side just like the evaluation.

‘Well anyway, both of them will soon become outstanding knights.’

The two of them would develop, treating each other as good rivals and sometimes as friends. It was when she turned her head thinking that it was a very desirable relationship.

“Jack…? Are you sick? Are you hurt?”

Jack’s expression darkened. Concerned, she lifted his toes and examined his face. Suddenly, Jack’s pale cheeks turned red.

‘Did my body feel bad from intense sparring?’

He reached out and placed a hand on Jack’s forehead. He winced and took a deep breath.

“I don’t have a fever…”

She tilted his head, but Jack suddenly grabbed her hand and pulled it away.

“Oh, you’re really hurt.”

She looked at Jack’s hand holding hers and frowned. The sparring was intense, and his palms were torn. In addition to that, it was full of minor scars and scars from training.

“Oh my god. Does it hurt a lot?”

As she looked at his hand and worried about it, Jack shook his hand and removed it. Then he asked with a serious face.

“Lia, do you like Master Allen?”

“What?”

“Class distinctions are strict. Right now, the young master may be close to you, the maid, but…”

Realizing the meaning of what he said, she put on an absurd expression.

“Are you asking me if I like you rationally?”

Did the kids eat the heat as a group today? Aside from Allen, she went all the way to Jack. She corrected her assessment of the two as being on good terms. Jack had become strange!

For some reason, she looked at Jack with a very nervous face and said honestly.

“To be honest, I can’t say this to anyone.”

“…uh.”

“I think young master is like a younger brother.”

“What? Master Allen is the same age as me… Are you older than me?”

“Then what do you do? You’re like a kid for a while. And I heard from the lady that she still sleeps with a doll when she sleeps.”

Jack opened his mouth. That would be a shock too. He found out the great secret of the opponent he considered his rival.

‘I’m sorry, Allen. But I think it’s a bee that colored Jack strangely.’

After a while, Jack asked with a calm face, as if he had barely managed to control the shock.

“So what about me?”

“You? What?”

“Am I like your brother too?”

“No, you are my friend.”

Jack, who was pondering my words with a strange expression, soon smiled faintly.

“Thank god.”

She nodded and remembered Jack’s absurd words from earlier. It was funny because the opponent was Allen, but now that she thought about it, Jack seemed to have been seriously thinking about it. She was afraid that her friend who came all the way here from the orphanage would suffer from heartache by bumping into a wall of social status.

‘He’s such a nice guy, but he can’t think of himself and worry about others because people don’t know his future.’

Of course, Jack would be adopted by Taze, and after being appointed a knight, he would receive a title and avoid living as a commoner. Besides, she had nothing to worry about in that respect.

‘Because I’m a person who knows my subjects well and keeps my senses.’

In her previous life, she couldn’t afford to have that feeling of liking someone rationally. It was because it was burdensome just to be recognized for my ability. And she didn’t have high expectations for this life either.

‘Who would look at me that way in the first place.’
