<Why doesn’t your sister decorate?>

Diana asked her, tilting her head. This morning, when Diana was getting ready to go out. With the intention of perfectly serving Diana’s successful salon debut, she picked out the neatest, most well-trimmed maid outfit she owned. So, she was just about to say that it was okay to go on like this.

“My lady, that child does not go to the salon. Instead, this child will go with you.”

After saying that, the lady-in-waiting introduced the girl next to her.

<Since I brought you from my family and taught you from one to ten, I will take good care of you.>

<Hello, lady! It’s Sophie. I know the families and names of the ladies attending today, so just trust me.>

A confident girl named Sophie glanced at her. The Duchess and Allen, who had come to see Diana even though they had morning schedules, looked puzzled.

“Helen, this is the first time I’ve heard of this.”

<Lady, I thought it would be good for the young lady to decide on a dedicated lady-in-waiting.>

<Diana’s attendant…>

“I bet you’re not thinking of that little girl named Lia.”

The lady-in-waiting interrupted the Duchess, and she spoke sharply.

<Lady. The lady should not use anyone, even her maid. She is, much less, a dedicated lady-in-waiting. Besides, as usual, today is the first visit to the salon, and you entrust the young lady to such a young child.>

<…>

<It’s a gathering for friendship, but there are a lot of lords and young ladies who have already formed a group. She is going to the salon where the most friendly and sociable ladies of the Elad duchy are looking for, but since you don’t know what will happen, a kid who can speak well and is quick-witted should stay next to the lady.>

<Helen. You don’t know about her, Lia is also a bright and smart child.>

<Yes, she must be clever since she is favored by the lady and the madam. But she is still a child, she is not even 10 years old.>

Even Lia, who was going to take it for granted, was speechless when age was mentioned. It seemed to be the same for the Duchess, and Allen, who had been silently watching the situation until now, had a sympathetic face. But she wasn’t Diana, who suddenly ended up in a strange place with a strange lady-in-waiting.

<Huh! No, I won’t go if missy doesn’t go!>

Diana burst into tears.

* * *

“Miss. It is time to go now.”

She looked at the nervous Sophie and said cautiously. Diana, who was burying her face in Lia’s arms, whimpered.

“Dana, I don’t want to go.”

“If you go there, there will be many delicious things and many friends. Everyone will like you, so it will be fun.”

“…Hmm.”

“If you go, I will read you fairy tales and play with dolls.”

“Really?”

“Sure.”

With those words, the long confrontation was finally over. She went outside with Diana, who wiped her tears clean. She saw the carriage already waiting, Allen who had come out to see her off, and the escort knight, Taze. Taze looked at her for a moment with a calm expression, as if he had already heard the situation inside. She watched in a daze as the carriage with Sophie on board started.

“Hey, ugly.”

Then Allen, who was standing next to her, called her.

‘If Diana had been there, she would have bitten his leg right away.’

Swallowing her regrets in her heart, she asked sullenly.

“Why are you calling?”

“What are you going to do without Diana today?”

“What will I do? I have to work.”

“Then come to the gymnasium later.”

“Yes?”

She turned my head at the sudden remark. Allen spoke in a loud voice, as if asking the lady-in-waiting next to him to listen.

“It’s a hot day, so bring a cold drink and a snack.”

“It’s not even summer yet, is it already hot?”

“Ah, if you don’t bring it, I will bring it!”

She suddenly raises her voice, startling her back, causing Allen to look puzzled. She asked the lady-in-waiting, who was watching this.

“Boss, shall we prepare something for the other knights to eat?”

“No! Then it’s hard!… the kitchen.”

“…?”

It couldn’t be done in the imperial palace, but there was no way to complain about the increased work in the huge Duke’s kitchen, which was responsible for countless servants.

‘Rather, it’s a snack for the Lexion Knights.’

Allen’s voice sounded strange to her, knowing that these hard servants also had tremendous pride in their dukedom. She shouted with a red face, as if Allen knew that what she was saying was bullshit.

“I’m going to eat it when I fight with Jack, so know that and fight. Don’t send it through another maid just because it’s annoying, you must come!”

When did she procrastinate because she was bothered? She looked at Allen’s back as he ran away with his lips pouting, but in fact she noticed that he had called her on purpose.

‘I can’t believe Allen had that kind of consideration.’

She hesitated for a moment, convinced that it was probably meant to comfort the upset of not being able to follow Diana.

‘You’re right there’s no Diana, she didn’t call me to bother me. Is that right?’

As if trying to erase her anxiety, she hurriedly nodded and turned around. She was startled.

The lady-in-waiting she thought had left long ago was staring at her with an abyss-like look.

She didn’t say anything, but the stare at her was somehow terrifying. She immediately turned and left her seat, but Lia stood still for a long time.

* * *

“…young master!”

“Uh?”

Allen, who was staring blankly toward the entrance of the gymnasium, turned her head at Jack’s voice calling her.

“Where are you uncomfortable? So, why not stop Dalian and rest…”

“No! I’m not uncomfortable! Continue.”

Jack tilted his head. Today, this little boy couldn’t concentrate and was strange.

‘Even if he jokes a lot normally, he was serious when he was holding a sword.’

Although Allen’s first impression was that of a cheeky and unlucky typical aristocratic youngster, after that, she received an official apology and her image was renewed. Although, of course, it was still disapproving of Lia being bullied. Then Allen laughed at her and shrugged her shoulders.

“…Maybe seeing her handsome face would make me feel better. Of course, her face isn’t everything…”

Allen, who had been twitching the corners of her mouth for a long time, was very fond of his own generosity and thoughtful consideration, and raised her head at her strange gaze. He looked at Jack with a look like he was talking bullshit. Allen, who was about to get angry at his momentary embarrassment, changed his mind and he said.

“Well, Jack, you said you didn’t know Lia very well, even though you lived together at daycare.”

“…?”

“He likes good looks.”

Seeing the bewilderment in Jack’s eyes, Allen smiled triumphantly.

“And you told me I was handsome over and over again.”

“…!”

Jack hesitated for a moment and then spoke stiffly.

“I didn’t know you liked that, but… Lia told me I was handsome too.”

At Jack’s words, the tips of Allen’s lips, which had been soaring high in the sky, trembled.

“What?”

“I asked why because she was staring at me, and she said it was because she was handsome.”

Jack’s expression and voice seemed the same as usual. But Allen was sure he was 100 percent proud now. This time, she was about to scream ‘You’re great!’

“Jack!”

Lia was entering the gymnasium carrying a picnic basket the size of her body.

* * *

The lady-in-waiting must have said something beforehand, so when I visited her kitchen during the afternoon when the sun was the hottest, she saw the food that had already been prepared. The neatly packaged sandwiches and fruits were enough to feed five adult men.

“You’re growing up, so you should eat a lot.”

The kitchen maid, who looked at me with envy and jealousy every time she ate with Diana, spoke softly. But the other day, when she heard her complaining to the chef that no matter how carefully she cooked with rare ingredients, it ended up in the stern child’s mouth. She just nodded her head with a smile on her face. It is understandable that she was envious of myself, who ate precious food to my heart’s content next to a lady, even if she had to save up her monthly salary to buy one. But it’s not like she was at ease. They say that they didn’t even touch dogs when they eat, but how sad it is to notice every meal.

‘Besides, gossiping about a child like that.’

The maid, looking at her with a bewildered face as she looked at her strangely, suddenly poured the cool juice into her ice-filled jug and carefully placed expensive-looking crystal glasses in her picnic basket. She gasped inwardly! She looked at it with surprised eyes.

‘If I break even one of those, it looks like my several months’ salary will be gone!’

Not too long ago, the Duke gave her the key to the safe at the Capital Bank, claiming it was hers, but she didn’t think she was really rich because she hadn’t seen the property yet. Rather, the monthly maid’s salary felt more precious. That’s why she was afraid that she was showing a bit of a pouty attitude and that he was asking her to carry it alone.

“I think it would be difficult for you to lift it alone. Shall I listen with you?”

Then the maid said in a soft voice, as if luring the little child. She looked up at her with her startled eyes. Normally, the maids at the Duke’s residence didn’t treat me meanly, but they weren’t very friendly either. Besides, she was secretly worried about swearing at me behind my back, but suddenly being friendly made her feel better, and she reflected on herself that she was petty.

“You train hard every day, but the days are getting hot, so the knights must be thirsty. I’ve got plenty of it, so I’d like to share it. yes?”

Then the maid added her words, her eyes twinkling. She was so sorry at that time.

‘I was wondering why you are so kind…!’
