Even if the Villain's Daughter Regresses

EVDR Chapter 22

Sion didn’t know why, so he just followed the servant up the stone staircase to ground level.

Then he got into a carriage.

After getting out of the carriage, he was led into a forest by a servant…….

“Listen carefully.”

Upon hearing the warning from the servant not to come out of the forest, Sion realized.

This is it.

His grave.

At last, the place where Sion would meet his death had been prepared.

After the servant left and Zion was alone in the forest, he slowly looked around.

Lush greenery.

The sound of birds that were noisy one moment and quiet the next.

Occasional rustling of the wind.

Sion closed his eyes.

Not bad.

This was a decent grave. At least it was better than the underground prison he’d been in not long ago.

Sion sincerely thought so and, finally, remembered one person.

‘I hope Cecile is safe.’

A moment later.

An arrow from a distance pierced Sion’s heart.

Sion opened his eyes.

‘What was that?’

And in the next moment, he was surprised to realize that he had indeed opened his eyes.

‘I didn’t die? Why?’

The arrow was clearly aimed at his heart. Sion remembered it vividly. He could confidently assert that the sensation was definitely not a mistake.

Back then…

“The descendant of the Heavenly God has awakened!”

“Descendant of the Heavenly God!”

“Descendant of the Heavenly God!”

Voices echoed from all directions, causing Sion to jolt up.

Sion immediately realized several strange things.

First. He was lying on an altar of some sort.

Two. Numerous people dressed in identical robes were lying on the ground surrounding the altar.

And third.

“What the…….”

Sion spoke only two words and then closed his mouth again.

His voice had completely changed.

“……I’m a descendant of the Heavenly God?”

“Yes. According to the records, you are the sixth descendant of the Heavenly God.”

Descendant of a Heavenly God.

An entity born once every thousand years in this world has divine power to confront the malevolent spirits that emerge when the seal is released every thousand years.

‘Is it really me?’

Sion furrowed his brow as he looked at himself in the mirror.

The ‘man’ in the mirror mimicked his expression.

Sion was stunned.

‘I died and came back to life after eight years…….’

Sion was now eighteen years old. At least, his physical body was.

Sion had awakened in a temple of some sort, and the priests there had explained to him the following:

A descendant of the Heavenly Gods awakens to their powers when they reach the age of eighteen, and if they die before then, their body and soul are stored in the heavenly realm and resurrected to earth in time for their awakening.

In other words, Sion, as a descendant of the Heavenly Gods, was revived because he awakened his power.

Sion stared once again at the unfamiliar ‘reflection’ in the mirror.

A towering height that seemed at least an inch taller than an average adult male.

He had an equally massive body, as if he had armor hidden beneath his clothes.

His chest was especially impressive. Sion thought of the chests of all the adult men he’d ever seen.

None of them seemed to have a circumference as large as his.

Sion absentmindedly felt his chest, realizing the fact, and then withdrew his hand.

After a moment of silence, he spoke.

“I understand that I am a descendant of the Heavenly God……, So, what do I do now? Do I immediately fight against the evil god?”

“No. According to the prophecy, the evil god will appear in this world in two years. Until then, you must practice mastering the power of the heavens.”

“The power of the heavens…”

“By the way, we have prepared a place to assist you in your training.”

The temple, located far from the kingdom where Sion was born and raised, had been a place of worship for the Heavenly God for thousands of years.

Sion glanced at the priest, who stood a few feet away from the mirror.

“Perhaps I have this power…”

“Yes?”

However, Sion didn’t continue speaking. He promptly turned his head.

“It’s nothing. Let’s go to the training area.”

Sion turned away from the mirror, revealing his broad and muscular back that he couldn’t see in the reflection.

“Right.”

As Sion was about to leave the room, he suddenly stopped in his tracks.

“Can you find someone for me?”

[You despicable human! This will be your last defiance!]

Two years later,

As prophesied by the temple, the sky turned entirely ashen, and the evil god appeared in the world.

Sion looked up at the gigantic evil god, which obscured part of the sky, thinking that if he couldn’t seal this creature, everything would truly be over.

Sion clenched the handle of his sword so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

“Didn’t you say a thousand years ago that that would be the last time too?”

[You insolent human!]

After letting out a light taunt to break the tension, Sion clashed with the evil god.

The intense battle, shaking the heavens and earth, continued for a whole month.

During this time, Sion realized one thing very clearly.

His body was no longer something that could be truly called ‘human.’

Whenever Sion’s body was seriously injured, it healed on its own.

Sion thought that if his vital areas, like the heart or head, remained intact, even if the rest of his body was completely mutilated, he would still be able to seek revenge.

In fact, he had experienced something similar several times.

‘It’s disgustingly fascinating.’

However, the true horror lay in the pain.

Despite his remarkable regenerative abilities, Sion felt the corresponding pain every time he got injured.

It was a hellish battle.

[Argh!]

In the seemingly never-ending final moments of the battle, Sion succeeded in defeating the evil god by sacrificing his heart.

As he expected, the destruction of his heart couldn’t be regenerated.

He died, only to come back to life half a day later.

“…I can never do that again.”

It was a sentiment that flowed spontaneously as he returned to life.

Upon regaining consciousness, Sion suddenly looked down at the back of his left hand.

There, visible only to his eyes, was a pattern of wings that resembled those of an angel.

‘The number of lives I have left.’

There were two wing patterns on the back of his hand.

When he checked before sacrificing himself to seal the evil god, there were three.

As a side note, when Sion said he saw three wing symbols on the back of his hand, the elderly priest of the Temple of the Heavenly Gods was very surprised.

‘Three? That’s strange; according to the records, you should have two lives…….’

In other words, unlike the other descendants of the Heavenly Gods, Sion had an extra life.

For some reason, Sion didn’t think it mattered.

He just found it a bit annoying.

When he wants to die, he has to die twice, unlike everyone else.

Sion soon left the desolate area where a month-long battle had ravaged.

The sky, which had turned ashen, opened up again as brightly as it had always been when the evil god was sealed.

The temple that witnessed the change in the sky widely announced the fact that the evil god had been sealed, and the news spread throughout the world in no time.

“The hero sealed the evil god!”

“Hail the hero!”

“Hail!”

Thanks to this, crowds gathered wherever Sion went to catch a glimpse of the hero, and leaders from various countries were restless, unable to capture Sion.

“If you naturalize in my kingdom, I promise the title of Duke…”

“If you marry the princess, you’ll receive the most fertile land in the south as a dowry…”

“If you become my adopted son, you will eventually rule this kingdom…”

Various extravagant proposals poured in, but Sion swiftly rejected every offer.

“I’m sorry.”

The kings who had invited Sion expressed disappointment, and just before Sion left, one of them asked a question:

“Come to think of it, I don’t even know the name of the hero who saved the world. Could you tell me your name?”

The name of the ‘hero’.

The holy and great figure who saved the world from evil…

“It’s Cassion.”

Sion left the gatherings, leaving behind the same answer each time.
