“One, two, three…”

“Four, five, six…”

“Seven, eight, nine…”

“Ten! Ready or not, here I come!” I shouted as I released my hands and looked around me quickly. As expected, he’s nowhere to be found.

I took my time, trudging through the fields, feeling each stem and petal through my outstretched hands. I reveled in their scent, basking in the peace and tranquility it gave me. I tilted my face to the sun, feeling its warm rays and absorbing the beautiful scene before me, completely forgetting the game I was supposed to play.

“RAWWRRR!”

I barely had time to react. My twin lunged at me from behind, tackling me and sending the both of us sprawling in the green grass where we fought playfully like wildcats, both giggling uncontrollably.

Soon enough, we got tired, so we lay there, panting and trying to catch our breaths.

“Hansel?” I called his name, and he looked at me through those brown eyes of his.

“Yeah?”

“You were supposed to hide,” I said, laughter bubbling up inside me, and he joined in.

“I couldn’t wait for you forever,” he laughed. “You always take centuries trying to find me.”

“I didn’t see any point in trying to find you, I knew I’d lose this game.” I playfully elbowed him in the ribs.

“You always lose this game, Gretel,” he said, and I smirked.

“What?” He asked, a confused look washing over his features.

I suddenly sprung into a crouch, launching myself into a sprint. I bet he didn’t see that coming.

“Whoever gets home first wins, Hansel! Race you!” I shrieked as he groaned in horror, quickly launching himself into a sprint in pursuit of my flight.

“No fair! I’d lose this one!” He gasped as we sprinted side by side.

“Only because you know I always win this game!”

I stuck my tongue out at him and sprinted full force, leaving him behind.
