Dressed as the Film Emperor's Fiancée

Childhood friend

The moment he saw Yu Mian’s face clearly, the boy suddenly opened his eyes wide, his pupils dilated in extreme shock.

    “Yu Mian?!”

Yu Mian wanted to call him subconsciously, but when he saw the strange look in the boy’s eyes, she calmed herself down.

She was no longer the orphan Yu Mian, and the other party don’t know her at all, so she couldn’t show that she was familiar with him.

Otherwise, if such a bizarre thing as time-travel is exposed, no one knew what the consequences will be.

As for why the young man called her Yu Mian, it should be because her now face is too similar to her original body. If one don’t look closely, they will think the looks are a bit of like that of twins. The young man obviously got it wrong and was unable to react for a while.

And this is exactly why Yu Mian didn’t concealed her identity now. The reason was for the Yu family.

If they found out that on the same day their daughter who entered the emergency room, there was already another girl named Yu Mian who looked just like her in the hospital. The Yu Mian who failed to survive as a result she was dead, they would surely feel suspicious.

Taking this into consideration, Yu Mian buried all her thoughts in her heart and did not exposed about this to anyone.

Oh no, she seems to have mentioned it to Lin Jianshen, but Lin Jianshen has never seen another Yu Mian. He doesn’t know that they look so alike, plus he shouldn’t be interested in investigating this matter. Thats why she’s not too worried about him knowing this matter.

The thoughts in her mind are already messy, and it seems that she have thought a lot of things, but in fact it is only a momentary thought.

Yu Mian put away all her thoughts from her eyes, smiled and stretched out her hand: “Hello, I’m here to visit Yu Mian. Are you her neighbor, Mr. Wen Quyi?”

The petited thin girl was dressed in heavy black. Her body was wrapped in a wide coat, her small face was that of the size of a palm, beautiful like a painting, the facial features are so exquisite with the eyebrows being straight, and the skin is as white as fine porcelain, without a trace of flaws.

She was not too tall, raising her face slightly to look at him, her eyes were clear, as if covered with a layer of light moist water, reflecting the bright light, clearly reflecting his figure.

Wen Quyi slowly recovered from his daze, his expression mixed with an imperceptible trance of disappointment.

He momentarily stared at the girl’s delicate face, he thought blankly mumbling, it wasn’t her, it wasn’t Yu Mian.

Yu Mian was already dead, and he brought her ashes back with his own hands. The urn was not big, but it was icy and cold. It was held by his arms, as he brought it home. The sudden death of Yu Mian was  painful to him, it was so heavy that he was almost unable to bear it.

He slowly lowered his head and looked at the girl’s outstretched hand, which was as small as hers, with soft fingers like scallions, with white tenderness that was pampered.

It was all different from Yu Mian’s rough hands with too many calluses because of her many part-time jobs.

The young man’s face was clear, and the corners of his eyebrows contained an innate softness. He lowered his eyebrows and stared at her, his long eyelashes casted a fan-shaped shadow under his eyes.

He didn’t shake Yu Mian’s hand, his confused eyes gradually returned to having some clarity. Seemingly realizing that he had mistaken the person, he frowned slightly, and a faint, self-loathing gloom appeared between his brows.

He opened his mouth, his voice was cold and distant, not as warm as he used just now, “Who are you? Do you know Yu Mian?”

Yu Mian looked at him slightly, with a look of surprise that could not be concealed.

In her memory, this childhood friend of hers who grew up together has always had a gentle and polite disposition, but now he seems to be sullen and indifferent to strangers, which is really a bit strange.

After not seeing him for two years, he became a little unknown to her.

After Yu Mian thought for a while, she took out her prepared speech and said, “I’m a online friend of Yu Mian. We’ve known each other online for several years. We haven’t met in real life before, but we’ve always been in touch. When I heard something happened to her, I just wanted to come and see her…”

Before she could even finish speaking, the young man turned his face away boringly, pushed the door open with one hand, and said in a lazy tone, “Oh, come in then.”

    ” ? “

Yu Mian couldn’t help but sigh, this… has become too much, if his face had changed, she would have thought if it was a different person.

The Wen Quyi she saw this time is really different from the past Wen Quyi.

Wen’s family can be said to be a musical family. Wen’s mother is a violinist. Wen Quyi has been influenced by music since he was born, and has a very high talent in music.

However, unlike his mother, although Wen Quyi is sensitive to music, he doesn’t like playing violin that much. Wen’s mother was a little disappointed at first, but later found out that Wen Quyi has a higher talent for the piano.

As we all know, the piano is recognized as the most elegant musical instrument in the world. It has always been known as the queen of musical instruments. Perhaps because of more piano practice, the character of Wen Quyi has also been infected with the gentleness, elegance and modesty of the piano.

Since he was a child, he has been praised by his parents. He has a gentle, calm and polite temperament. He is not only talented in art, but also ranks among the best in academic performance. He also has a clean and handsome appearance.

It was the first time that Yu Mian saw him like this, his eyes were sullen, and his expression was full of depression and laziness, as if he had suffered a huge blow, close to his heart.

Could it be… is it because of her?

[ T/N:- Yes Goddamnit! ]

As soon as this thought popped into her mind, Yu Mian immediately shook her head, pushing it back away.

Although she had secretly watched this handsome young man, in the young girl’s youthful dreams. There would always appear a boy in a blue and white school uniform, tall and straight, with slender knuckles jumping on the black and white keys, playing beautifully dreamy music.

But a dream is just a dream after all, she knew it all too well, even if they are under the same roof, they are always apart by two worlds.

When she took the gift from Wen’s mother, when she heard the piano sound every night, when she stood in Wen’s living room and saw the elegant and beautiful violin by the window, when she stood In front of the school’s propaganda board, when she looked up at the top names on the ranking list, when she got the notice for the college entrance examination and walked with him in the garden downstairs in the community.

The warm midsummer wind was mixed with the sound of cicadas, just like a girl’s hot and restless heart.

She had been hiding something on her mind for a long time, and hesitantly she was about to reveal it when….

One step ahead of her, the boy’s eyes were as clear as morning dew, and his voice was as gentle as ever. He said, “Yu Mian, I’m leaving. I received an admission letter from the Mannister School of Music.”

What else can she say later, she remembered but not too clear to her memory.

In the past two years, only the mottled light and shadow, the warm wind and the fresh soap fragrance in the clothes of the teenager have blurred this memory.

So when she heard in the hospital that Wen Quyi had gone through the formalities for her, she was full of surprise and disbelief.

But thinking about it later, Wen’s family has always been warm-hearted. After her parents passed away, they gave her a lot of help, so it makes sense to come over this time.

On the contrary, Yu Mian was very ashamed. It was okay to trouble others when she was alive, but even after death she could not stop troubling others. With a neighbor like her, the Wen family could still collect her corpse is because they are good-natured.

After thinking wildly, she regained her senses and was already standing in the living room of Wen’s house.

When Wens’ moved out, they didn’t take anything with them. The reason why they lived in this old community was because it was the old house of Wen’s mother and father. Wen’s mother was nostalgic and didn’t want to change the place. Later, for Wen Quyi’s studies, their family moved away.

Looking around, the basic furnishings have not changed much, but a layer of dust has accumulated on the furniture, which looks a bit old.

Yu Mian found a fairly clean sofa and sat down, inadvertently glanced at the shelf by the wall, her eyes stopped suddenly.

There is a black-and-white photo on the shelf. The girl in the photo is wearing a summer school uniform, with a slight smile on her delicate face. The dark blue collar is open, and a slender collarbone is looming, hidden in the snow-white fabric.

[ T/N:- Wen Quyi is a good friend of Yu Mian…. ]

You are amazing!! Thank you for sharing your translations with us <3

So sad that Yu Mian doesn't know what she meant to Wen Quyi. They never got to confess to each other. Likely, he meant to once he'd made something of himself and could support her. It seems like, in her quiet and humble way, she'd affected quite a few people. I like the pacing of this story and that she's getting closure with her past life before the story rushes on with her fumbling through her new one.
