Don't Hate Fake Villains

Chapter 6

After punching  on the pillar a few times, I felt little bit angry.

Ah, of course, I didn’t forget to exhibit the sense to adjust the strength, considering it looked like it could collapse at any moment due to its age.

I brushed aside my disheveled hair and calmed my roughened breath, feeling excited.

“Let me say it again, I am not the witch you are looking for.”

“Even if there is evidence that you are a witch, isn’t there also evidence that you are not?”

Wow,  this is making to cry again ?

But sadly, it wasn’t a false statement. If Yushen had shown evidence that I was Leana, then I also had to show solid evidence here that I wasn’t.

‘What’s the difference between me and Leana?’

As I stared intently at the printed image of Leana’s face on the paper in my hand, a sudden realizatio droppped  into my mind, proving that I wasn’t Leana.

I pointed to the area below the left corner of my mouth.

“This.”

“This?”

Yushen furrowed his brow as if asking for a clear explanation.

“There’s something Leana doesn’t have, but I do.”

“….”

“And I forgot to mention, I’m not the witch Leana you’re looking for; I’m Leana’s twin sister, a completely different person.

“….”

Of course, one point alone couldn’t entirely convince that I wasn’t Leana.

But since I had consistently made this claim until now, I thought it was enough to lend credibility.

“Is the conversation over now? Are you going to stop bothering me in the future?”

Yushen stared at my face blankly without any witness.

Yeah, he probably wants to deny it. That the witch he’s been searching for isn’t me.

But what can I do? That’s the truth. Accept it.

I intentionally twisted one corner of my mouth and chuckled, then turned abruptly.

“Wait.”

Yushen, who stood like a scarecrow, blocked my way again. And this time, he even grabbed both of my shoulders tightly.

“Why are you acting so clingy? Are you trying to be a real lover or something?”

“Don’t move.”

“What?”

“I have something to check.”

I was embarrassed by his domineering behavior, I tried to step back, but Yushen squeezed my shoulders even tighter, preventing me from moving.

And against my will, the distance between Yushen and me began to shrink gradually.

The closer he got, the more I couldn’t figure out where to focus my gaze.

“Is the genre suddenly changing to romance like this?”

Yushen, who stopped right in front of me, lowered his eyes slightly. Then his long eyelashes, forming curves, came into view.

“It’s true that a handsome guy is good-looking even to his eyelashes… No, wait, that’s not it?”

It wasn’t the time for such meaningless  thoughts. Yushen might have intentionally used his handsome appearance to target Leana, who seemed to have a weakness for handsome men.

Quickly regaining my senses, I glared at Yushen as if I were going to kill him. However, he stubbornly stared at only one place, ignoring my sharp gaze.

The end of that gaze was near my lips.

“No way… Is this really the timing for a kiss?”

Weren’t we just talking a moment ago about whether I was a witch or not?

Anyway, regardless of the situation, I didn’t want Yushen to steal my first kiss like this.

Just as I was about to push Yushen away, he stopped just inches away from my fist.

“What…”

Just as I was about to ask what he was doing, something touched the end of my lips. Not only did it touch, but it also pressed firmly.

…His face is right in front of mine?

Curious, I lowered my gaze, and I saw a hand wearing white gloves.

Moreover, the thumb was rubbing the dotted area up, down, left, and right.

Blinking a few times, I slapped the hand away and pushed him away.

Yushen didn’t seem to show any sign of being upset. He simply distanced himself from me as if he had already achieved his goal.

“What did you just do to me?”

“Verifying the truth.”

His confident answer left me bewildered.

“The dots didn’t disappear.”

“Because it’s my mark, of course it wouldn’t disappear!”

“Didn’t you use black magic to make it not disappear?”

Wow… That was a frustratingly obtuse response.

At first, I was frustrated and angry when Yushen talked about black magic and didn’t believe me, but now… I couldn’t help but laugh at his absurdity.

“You keep mentioning black magic every time, but aren’t you the one obsessed with black magic?”

“Obsessed with black magic?”

“Yeah! Aren’t you tired of talking about that damn black magic?”

Yushen frowned as if he were annoyed, but honestly, from my perspective, it was natural that he looked that way.

In the midst of my explanation, I got so excited that, thinking back on the things Yushen said to me, he seemed closer to being obsessed with dark magic than Leana.

Of course, I know he’s delving into dark magic to capture Leana, but don’t you think it’s a bit excessive to keep mentioning dark magic over and over again?

Soon, Yushen raised his head and took off his white gloves.

“Huh?”

In the original work, Yushen never takes off his gloves, no matter what happens. He dislikes physical contact with others due to trauma.

He might touch others when it’s absolutely necessary for public matters, but he never gets close to others in normal circumstances.

However, his recent action, taken to verify my point, was unexpected.

Firstly, it was unexpected because it was an action he only did towards the heroine, who he approaches without hesitation.

“…Is this one of the butterfly effects caused by me possessing Letitia’s body?”

Ah, so that’s why Yusen is taking off his gloves now? Then what? Is he going to put them back on?

Despite knowing it’s best to feign ignorance, I couldn’t help but speak out.

“That glove…”

“Hmm?”

With both gloves off after confidently starting to speak, Yushen raised his eyebrows as if asking if I had something to say.

I turned my head sideways.

There was no point in revealing that I know the meaning behind the gloves.

Yushen narrowed his eyes for a moment before continuing his action.

He ruthlessly discarded the gloves onto the ground like trash…

“Huh? Why did he throw them away?”

My confusion about Yushen’s actions quickly vanished. He pulled out identical white gloves from inside his jacket and put them on as if to demonstrate.

I stared at him intently and couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Am I dirty? Am I a germ?”

So Yushen discarded the gloves as if he had touched something dirty after touching my face.

“You’re treating me like I’m some dirty germ.”

“It’s a habit.”

“A habit, huh.”

I knew he exhibited symptoms of OCD due to trauma. It had been mentioned in the novel a few times.

But I had never seen him display the behavior of a habit he just showed. Yushen never exhibits impolite behavior in front of his people.

In other words, indirectly, I let him know that I’m not one of his people.

I understand that Yushen started wearing gloves due to developing OCD because of trauma. But I don’t know why that trauma occurred.

Not only me, but other readers were also in the same boat.

“In none of the original works was Yushen’s past described.”

It was only briefly mentioned that he had a difficult childhood due to his family, passing by like a fleeting moment.

Perhaps that’s why, until the end of the novel, there was no description of Yushen taking off his gloves and walking around. I could only speculate vaguely that he must have had a very bitter trauma, maybe to the extent that he couldn’t even fix the female lead.

“Phew, I’ll let it slide since you’re the protagonist. If you try something like this on me when I’m just an extra character, I’ll give you a spicy good night for sure.”

Finishing my thoughts, I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.

Yushen, seizing this brief moment, seemed to have come to a conclusion with a determined expression.

“…For now, I’ll keep your presence here a secret.”

“Why? Wouldn’t it be more efficient to go after Leana instead of hiding me?”

“No. If, as you say, you’re Leana’s twin, you may become even more valuable to me later.”

“……”

“And you might not have been consumed by dark magic to the extent of abandoning your family yet.”

At this point, even Yushen seemed confused. Whether I was really Leana or not. So he had definitely made a decision that was neither here nor there.

Of course, Yushen was clever enough to come to such a conclusion… but his assumption was wrong.

Leana is someone who can easily abandon me at any time. I’m not a real family member.

No, even if I were a real family member, I would have been easily discarded.

Not just anyone can think of resurrecting a dead person and then possessing another person, right?

Perhaps Leana had always seen the existence of a sister as a mere tool.

Yushen didn’t know that fact, so he still seemed to be treating Leana as a human being.

Of course, I know that this reason is not the only one.

“Yusen couldn’t just stand by and watch this temple collapse.”

I vehemently deny that I am Leana, but anyway, to Yushen, I am still Leana, and since we look alike as twins, there is a high possibility of being accused of being a witch.

If I were accused of being a witch and it were revealed that I had stayed in this temple for quite some time?

It was obvious that the high priests, including the auxiliary priests responsible for managing this temple, would be dismissed. If they were only dismissed, it would be fortunate; they might have to endure the rest of their lives with all kinds of reproaches and criticisms.

“In the worst case scenario… we could all be executed.”

So Yushen decided to keep it a secret. Not for me, but for the people staying in the temple.

It’s a decision worthy of the protagonist of the novel and the commander of the Luche Knights, recognized by the empire.

“The problem is that he won’t show me such discretion.”

What can I do even if I’m resentful? This is the role I’ve taken on in this world.
