Don't Hate Fake Villains

Chapter 2

The situation wasn’t flowing as I wished, and my heart was filled with unfairness and anger, causing my feet to bounce in the air.

At that moment, Yushen sighed deeply and asked with a troublesome expression, “So, you’re saying that she merely resembles a witch?”

As expected of a male lead, he wasn’t completely clueless.

I responded quickly and confidently, clapping my hands, “Exactly! That’s it!”

“Do you have any evidence?”

“Of course! Just look at it!”

“But hair color can be changed with dye.”

“Ugh, are you blind? Where do you see dyed hair? Can’t you see it’s clearly a natural color, untouched by any dye?”

I didn’t know if hair dye existed in this world, but even if it did, these hair strands would

never have been dyed or permed.

Having had many bleaching and perming experiences myself, I could tell just by lightly touching the hair how damaged it was.

But since this wasn’t a scientific basis, I had to give another reason.

Yushen’s expression turned more intimidating and stern than before, seeming less satisfied with my answer.

“Fine. Let’s say she dyed her black hair pink. How would you explain the eye color then?”

“….”

“There’s no dye that can change eye color.”

“….”

Yushen’s mouth, which had been responding well until now, was tightly shut. It seemed like he found my logic to be valid.

Yeah, let’s say she dyed her hair from black to pink. But changing eye color too? Even you must agree that’s impossible, right?

Ha, my logic won.

As I was feeling excited about correcting and resolving the misunderstanding, Yushen’s tightly shut mouth suddenly opened.

“Dark magic.”

“What magic?”

“Because you use dark magic, it’s possible.”

Dark magic.

The reason why Leana is called a witch is because she used forbidden dark magic of the empire to disrupt society.

So many people were desperate to catch Leana, and Yushen was one of them.

“If we look at what you’ve done so far, there’s nothing you couldn’t have done with dark magic.”

“I’m not the Leana you’re looking for, so how could I use dark magic?”

“Claiming that your different hair and eye colors are the reason is hard to believe.”

The frustrating gentleman seems uninterested in listening to me.

Honestly, this situation is really frustrating right now, but it’s not that I don’t understand.

‘It seems like I resemble Leana enough that it’s hard to distinguish between us.’

In fact, in the original work, Yusen misunderstood Letitia as Leana and ended up killing her.

Still, it’s frustrating!

“Ugh, you frustrating man! I’m really not Leana!”

“Then why did you run away as soon as you saw me?”

“That’s…”

If anyone saw you chasing after them as if to kill them, wouldn’t they run away like me?

I wanted to say that. But I knew that wasn’t the reason he wanted.

“Let’s hear your ‘defense’.”

As I hesitated to answer, Yusen seized the opportunity with the word ‘defense’.

“No, hey!”

Clang—

“What? Why isn’t this coming off?”

“There’s a risk of escape, so we can’t remove it until we reach headquarters.”

I tried pulling on the handcuffs around my wrists, but they didn’t budge at all.

Yushen grabbed the rope connected to the handcuffs, and I had no choice but to follow along like a melancholy cow being led to the slaughterhouse.

Unless I could convince him with words, I couldn’t think of any other way to escape from here.

If Yushen or the heroine had psychic powers like me, there might have been a chance to survive.

But I’m neither the protagonist nor an important supporting character, so it was obvious that I didn’t have such valuable abilities.

Furthermore, Letitia from the original work is an extra who dies in the hands of the male lead early on, so there wasn’t any useful information to draw from.

It was almost halfway through being dragged along by Yusen, resigning myself to the situation, when it happened.

“Ahh!”

A magic circle suddenly appeared beneath my feet, causing me to fall.

Suddenly, due to unforeseen events, I found myself unable to prepare, and I ended up with a sore butt.

I rubbed my painful buttocks and looked around.

The place I fell into, no matter how many times I blinked, was just an ordinary house.

“Hello?”

When I turned around at the sharp voice from behind, I saw a girl with jet-black hair and eyes as black as coal, staring at me with her arms crossed.

The girl, still with her arms crossed, glanced at me sideways, then broke the handcuffs around my wrist.

I recognized her as soon as I saw her.

“Leana?”

“Oh, you weren’t able to let go of one, huh? I thought some stupid kid had come.”

Sure enough, she was the one who got me into trouble.

She scolded me for doing such a naughty thing, saying I almost died because of it, but Leana was quicker.

“Still, you’re fast at running, aren’t you? I was worried about the timing of your arrival here.”

What Leana said felt somewhat unnatural.

Soon I realized what part of it was.

A while ago, Leana said ‘the timing of your arrival here.’ So, Leana knows that I am someone who came from another world.

“It hasn’t been long since I possessed you, how on earth does she know?”

She was even confident about it.

Could my arrival in this world be related to Leana’s black magic?

Of course, there is no evidence, so it’s hard to say anything right now, but it was a hypothesis that couldn’t be ruled out entirely.

Hmm, I guess poking around a bit won’t hurt?

“…Did you call me here?”

“Half-right and half-wrong.”

“Don’t speak in riddles.”

“Um…”

Leana pretended to ponder with a mischievous expression before quickly speaking up.

“I did call someone, but it wasn’t specifically you. I don’t know why you came.”

Although it was a more detailed answer than before, it was still insufficient to make me understand.

But would the antagonist, Leana, explain it in detail if I asked more?

I decided to ask about other things first.

“So, what do you want from me?”

“Oh, I wanted to ask for a favor. The person I originally intended to ask is dead.”

“Dead? Who?”

“My sister, Letitia Montrose.”

That can’t be true.

How could I have possessed Letitia’s body if she was dead?

“Letitia is already dead? That’s impossible….”

“I’m also skeptical that she died earlier than the original flow.”

What? Can the original story change so quickly?

Usually, a possessed person starts to deviate from the original story after meeting the main character, not before, right?

Wait a minute. Leana said earlier that Letitia died earlier than the original flow…? Does she know the original flow? How?

How can she know the flow of the original story?

“Isn’t it normal that characters in novels shouldn’t know?”

I was so confused that I couldn’t hide my emotions.

Leana continued speaking.

“So, I revived you again, and you appeared in that body, huh?”

“……”

“So, you should live as my sister, Letitia, for just one year.”

Leana said with a bright smile. Ironically, I felt a sense of dread in that smile.

“She brought back someone who was supposed to be dead and now she’s asking me to live as her replacement sister. Is this something a person can do?”

I protested.

“Why do I have to do that?”

“If you don’t grant my request, you won’t be able to return to your original world.”

“……”

“Well, if you want, you can continue living in this body. It doesn’t matter to me.”

While talking to Leana, I realized something.

If Leana was the one who called me, I could never defeat her.

“It’s ridiculous…..”

To return to reality, I needed the power that brought me to this world, not to meet the main characters and face the end of the novel.

But even so, I wasn’t willing to easily fulfill everything Leana wanted.

There must be other ways to leave this world. Surely, if I searched, I would find them somewhere.

“…I’ll ask one question.”

“Sure, go ahead.”

“Why me of all people?”

“I think I said I didn’t know that part a while ago.”

“So, why don’t you know?”

“Why are you asking about that?!”

Leana, who was grumbling, furrowed her brow.

“Because you were chosen by the Dark Magic Master.”

The Dark Magic Master? What’s that? That wasn’t a setting in the novel I read.

I had realized since the original plot was altered that my possessed life wouldn’t be easy, but wasn’t introducing settings that weren’t in the original going too far?

“It’s like surviving in the highest difficulty level!”

My head was spinning with confusion.

“I just borrowed the hand of dark magic. There’s a separate Dark Magic Master.”

“Who is it?”

“Do I have to tell you that?”

Although she had just said I could ask anything, Leana’s voice suddenly became sharp.

It must have touched on a sensitive topic.

Leana waved her hand as if to say not to ask any more questions.

“Anyway, just live as that body for a year.”

“Wait a minute!”

I grabbed Leana’s arm as she was about to disappear.

Whether Leana knew something or not, I needed more hints to survive in this place.

“Why?”

“Putting on a facade as my sister here, what are you trying to do?”

Whether my question was unexpected or not, Leana’s eyes widened for a moment, then mischief sparkled in her black pupils.

“Don’t give me that look. It’s making me nervous!”

“It would be fun to see if you figure out what I’m up to.”

Are you kidding me right now? I’m not a fortune-teller. How could I know what you’re up to?

As I burst out laughing incredulously, Leana shrugged as if to say what’s the problem.

“You know the story of this world, don’t you?”

“……”

“So it won’t be difficult to figure out what I’m up to. Right?’’
