Identity Verification

Chapter 79 – Identity Verification

“Go tell the people behind you to stop coming up; there are no more beds. I’ll come down and treat you,” Xiao Jiu said in despair.

The young boy relayed this message to the people behind him.

The people behind him passed the message further back.

In this manner, the message was passed along until it reached the bottom of the stairs, and people began to limp back slowly.

The scene was so tragic that the people who had been beaten by Tu Ran actually felt fortunate.

Tu Ran had walked five kilometers with great difficulty before finally arriving at the suspended rail station. She boarded the train and rode it all the way to the medical department station.

Entering the medical department, Tu Ran skillfully located the workstation for the nutrition pods.

Three young nurses were standing in front of the workstation.

Seeing Tu Ran wrapped up tightly, they all showed puzzled expressions.

“May I ask what service you need?” one nurse asked.

“I need to soak in a nutrition pod,” Tu Ran said.

The nurse inquired, “Have you paid? We need to check your records.”

Tu Ran replied with difficulty, “Previously, your medical department had an incident with an alien species. I was almost eaten by it. As an apology, your medical department promised me that I could receive free medical treatment for a year.”

Her face hurt, and it was difficult for her to speak clearly.

She urgently needed to soak in the nutrient solution; if she delayed any longer, she might not be able to hold on.

The three nurses looked at each other, having never heard of such a thing.

“You must be mistaken. Our medical department has never had an alien species incident.”

Tu Ran, in too much pain to stand, leaned on the counter, her voice trembling, “Go find Xu Bingli. He knows what’s going on.”

Xu Bingli was the doctor who had made the promise. She had specifically remembered his name.

“Hurry and contact Dr. Xu,” one nurse said.

One of the nurses noticed her condition was not good and quickly supported her to a nearby resting chair, instructing another nurse to call for help.

“Miss, are you okay?” the nurse asked softly, holding her hand.

Not really.

Xie Xu had been too harsh.

“Why don’t you take off your sunglasses and mask so I can check your condition?” the nurse suggested.

“No need. I’ll take them off myself once I get to the nutrition pod,” Tu Ran replied.

She was currently sporting a face that looked like a pig’s head and didn’t want to scare others.

Seeing her refusal, the nurse was helpless.

Fortunately, Xu Bingli arrived quickly. Since Tu Ran was wrapped up so tightly, he didn’t recognize her at first glance.

“Is it Miss Tu?” he asked, staring at her uncertainly.

“Yes,” Tu Ran answered with difficulty.

“Please remove the items covering your face; we need to verify your identity,” Xu Bingli said.

She realized that there was no way to avoid showing her face today.

Tu Ran took off her sunglasses.

Her swollen eyelids shocked the surrounding nurses.

Tu Ran heard the sound of gasping.

How embarrassing.

She wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

But she still had to take off her mask.

Just as she placed her hand behind her ear, a voice suddenly came from the monitor above her head.

“Pupil recognition complete. She is the pioneer, Tu Ran.”

For the first time, she found the emotionless mechanical voice so pleasant.

“What happened to Miss Tu?” Xu Bingli exclaimed, shocked. He hadn’t recognized her at all.

Tu Ran let out a dry laugh.

She probably wouldn’t recognize herself either.

“Quickly, take Miss Tu to the changing room to change clothes. I’ll go prepare the nutrient solution,” Xu Bingli instructed.

With the support of the young nurses, Tu Ran entered the changing room and changed her clothes, but she did not remove her mask.

It was only at the moment she entered the nutrition pod that she was willing to take off the mask.

As she soaked in the pink liquid, Tu Ran felt comfortable and let out a few bubbles.
