Chapter 69 – Brawl

Tu Ran sneered, “Thanks for your concern, Guard Zhou. Chunzhi is doing very well.”

She emphasized the word “guard,” implying that Zhou Ming was nothing more than Xi Chunzhi’s defeated underling, a reject from the pioneer team. If someone like him was still alive, it was natural that someone a hundred times better was doing fine.

Zhou Ming understood her insinuation perfectly and was instantly enraged. He took a few steps forward, ready to strike. “Tu Ran, you’re asking for it—”

The barrel of her sniper rifle was pressed against his forehead.

Zhou Ming froze, glaring at her. “You wouldn’t dare shoot!”

“Wanna bet?” Tu Ran’s smile was cruel. “Even if my aim is off, at this close range, I won’t miss.”

“Tu! Ran!” Zhou Ming gritted his teeth, but he didn’t dare move.

He had seen how crazy this woman could be during training camp. He couldn’t risk that she wouldn’t pull the trigger.

Zhou Ming’s teammates, who couldn’t stand to watch any longer, saw their usually arrogant friend now cowering at the sight of a gun. They couldn’t just let this go. Although Zhou Ming was insufferable, he was still their teammate, and his disgrace reflected on the whole team. They reluctantly pulled the two apart.

Tu Ran had no intention of actually shooting. She was just trying to scare him.

As they intervened, she lowered her gun.

Zhou Ming’s face was a furious shade of purple, like an overripe eggplant.

Tu Ran glanced at him disdainfully and called him a “coward” before walking away with her sniper rifle.

Her exit was graceful, but the insult had pushed Zhou Ming over the edge.

“Tu Ran! I’ll kill you!” he shouted, swinging a punch at her back.

Tu Ran, having trained these past few days, seemed to have eyes in the back of her head. She sidestepped his punch.

Due to his momentum, Zhou Ming couldn’t stop himself, and Tu Ran raised her rifle, striking him hard.

With a loud crack, Tu Ran felt she had heard the sound of Zhou Ming’s bones breaking.

Her own back was also starting to ache slightly.

Zhou Ming, knocked to the ground by her blow, was utterly humiliated and furious. He scrambled up, ready to continue fighting.

Seeing their teammate being humiliated by a woman, the others couldn’t stand idly by and joined the fight.

Tu Ran found herself up against seven opponents. She swung the sniper rifle with such force that it whistled through the air, almost sparking.

The sniper rifle, designed for long-range shooting, never expected to be used for close combat.

The shooting range’s cameras had already detected the commotion. A voice repeatedly announced, “Please cease fighting. Fighting is prohibited under Federal law. Offenders will be fined 1,000 Federal credits and confined for seven days…”

No one paid attention.

The brawl was in full swing.

Especially Tu Ran, who fought with exhilarating intensity, as if releasing all the pent-up frustration she had since arriving in this world.

“An alarm has been raised. The Monitoring Department is on the way. An alarm has been raised. The Monitoring Department is on the way…”

When the Monitoring Department arrived, Tu Ran was in the midst of slamming her sniper rifle into Zhou Ming’s head.

Zhou Ming saw stars, and blood spurted from his nose.

“Stop!”

“Drop your weapons and raise your hands!”

The Monitoring Department officers surrounded them, guns drawn.

A crowd of onlookers, also training at the range, had gathered to watch the spectacle.

Tu Ran dropped the now creaking sniper rifle to the ground and raised her hands compliantly.

“Take them away,” ordered the leader of the Monitoring Department. They were all escorted out of the training ground.
