Chapter 50 – Desperate Struggle
[Tubin is the Snake King, capture it.]
A message from Xie Xu came through the communicator.
As the message faded, the sound of continuous gunfire erupted outside the villa.
“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang…”
Tu Ran and Ding Naiqing exchanged glances, both seeing the shock in each other’s eyes.
Who was shooting?
The gunfire grew closer, echoing through the villa’s empty corridors, deafening and causing the ground beneath them to tremble.
Screams pierced the air, louder and louder, as maids ran frantically through the hallways, their footsteps chaotic.
The woman on the sickbed huddled in fear, her already pale face drained of any remaining color.
Ding Naiqing raised his machine gun, gradually moving towards the door.
Tu Ran also pointed her gun at the door, carefully approaching the bed.
She positioned herself behind Ding Naiqing, on the other side of the woman.
They surrounded the woman’s bed.
If the woman on the bed was an alien, this positioning would allow Tu Ran to detect any abnormal behavior quickly. If she wasn’t, Tu Ran could protect her.
The woman curled up, desperately asking Tu Ran, “What’s happening outside?”
Tu Ran shook her head, unsure herself.
She had already called for updates from the other team members via the communicator, but no one had reported back on the situation outside yet.
All she could do was stay alert while pondering what Tubin would do first upon discovering their conversation had been monitored.
Would it be a final, desperate struggle?
She didn’t know.
Everything was still uncertain.
With a loud “bang,” the intricately carved door was suddenly burst open from the outside.
Tubin barged directly into the room.
He was still wearing his rough servant clothes, but his body seemed even more massive, making the room feel smaller. In Tu Ran’s memory, he hadn’t appeared so tall initially.
Each of his hands held a slender knife.
For a moment, Tu Ran was stunned. Knives? Was he a ninja? Who still used knives in this era?
But then she realized it wasn’t a joke.
Tubin swung his knife horizontally towards Ding Naiqing, moving so quickly that Tu Ran could only see a blur. This speed was beyond human capability.
Before Ding Naiqing could fire his gun, the knife was already slashing towards his head. He had to quickly lean back to avoid having his head sliced off.
The two engaged in close combat.
Ding Naiqing discarded his cumbersome machine gun and, seizing an opportunity, snatched a knife from Tubin. They fought blade to blade, with sharp edges cutting through the air, creating a piercing wind.
Ding Naiqing was clearly outmatched, barely able to fend off Tubin’s attacks. He was forced to retreat continuously, accumulating more wounds on his body.
Tu Ran raised her handgun, trying to aim at Tubin.
But with the two constantly changing positions, aiming became significantly more challenging. She hadn’t trained extensively with guns, and the gun’s angle kept shifting, preventing her from getting a clear shot.
She feared hitting Ding Naiqing.
Tubin’s knife slashed through the air, cutting Ding Naiqing’s arm. His combat uniform tore, and a streak of blood followed the knife’s path, splattering onto the pristine white bedsheets.
The woman in the corner screamed in terror at the sight.
Ding Naiqing’s arm throbbed with pain, and his knife slipped from his grasp, clattering to the ground.
Tubin pressed his advantage, raising both knives to strike down at him.
In the critical moment, Tu Ran knew that further hesitation would be fatal for both of them.
