Developing Superpowers in Another World

The Vanishing Power

Chapter 329 – The Vanishing Power

They didn’t want to die, but they couldn’t resist the laser guns, so they had no choice but to kill Tu Ran. Once she was dead, the laser guns would no longer attack them.

At the moment they fired, Tu Ran suddenly froze. The person who had been as fast as lightning now visibly slowed down as her running speed dropped to that of an ordinary human.

Her premonition of doom had finally come true—her [Teleportation] was gone.

Countless bullets were flying toward her, and the laser beams were almost upon her.

She felt the searing heat on her cheek, and her senses were fully heightened. She could even feel the air moving as the bullets approached.

There was no time for Tu Ran to think.

“Annihilate!”

An invisible protective membrane formed around her. Every bullet that entered disintegrated and turned to ash. The white laser beams scattered into light particles the moment they entered, colliding with the ash of the bullets.

A dense gray mist surrounded her until all the attacks were rendered ineffective, and the mist began to dissipate.

The crowd was stunned by this scene and forgot to keep firing.

However, those hidden in the shadows didn’t forget their mission. The laser beams shot at Tu Ran again, and several of them even merged into one powerful column of light, carrying world-destroying force as it pressed down toward her.

Tu Ran’s face was illuminated so brightly that she couldn’t keep her eyes open. The brightness was so intense that the crowd couldn’t look directly at her. The entire sky seemed to be lit up, and the glow of the surrounding neon lights was completely overshadowed.

The outcome of this battle was uncertain. Xiao Jiu, unable to continue eating, felt his heart lift in suspense.

In the next instant, the beams of light scattered. It was as if a mirror was held above Tu Ran’s head, reflecting all the light that struck it. The reflected light lost its powerful penetrating force, and after traveling a short distance, the energy was absorbed by the air and vanished without a trace.

[Mental Power: 49%] A reminder flashed in Tu Ran’s mind.

She felt a pang of regret.

The mental energy she had painstakingly gathered was now less than half, after using [Annihilation] twice.

Her enemies didn’t give her a chance to catch her breath, and the next wave of attacks quickly arrived.

Tu Ran used [Annihilation] to block the attacks while searching for nearby cover.

Charging into the crowd was no longer an option. The people there were shooting at her, and using [Annihilation] on the bullets drained her stamina significantly.

Just as she kicked open the door to a two-story bar, [Annihilation] failed.

The laser beam instantly broke through the shield and shot toward her back.

Tu Ran threw herself into the door in a panic, her back grazing the beam. Her clothes tore, and a sharp, burning pain shot through her back.

Her face paled for a moment. There was no time to worry about the injury on her back; she pushed her way through the crowd and ran toward the second floor.

The people hiding in the bar panicked and rushed out.

Tu Ran had become a harbinger of doom. Wherever she went, death followed.

She climbed to the second floor, crawling toward the window facing the street. Reaching the window, she carefully lifted the corner of the curtain and peeked through the glass to see what was happening outside.

Opposite the bar, she saw a familiar figure.

Xie Zhao.

He was hiding in a dark room, wearing a black military uniform Tu Ran had never seen before. If it weren’t for the neon lights illuminating his face, Tu Ran wouldn’t have noticed him.

The corner of his lips curled into a subtle arc, just as Tu Ran had seen many times before—neither arrogant nor too approachable.

In the past, Tu Ran had thought that this person was “simpler” than Xie Xu, someone without much guile or hidden agendas, someone who seemed straightforward and honest.

Now, Tu Ran realized how wrong she had been.

In the depths of the Federation’s murky waters, no one could remain entirely untouched by the muck.
