Developing Superpowers in Another World

Blast Them with Cannons

Chapter 316 – Blast Them with Cannons

“The appearance of fixed doors in our world is a good piece of news,” Tu Ran said through her helmet, looking at Yu Boming. “You’d better assign heavy troops to guard this area. Of course, it would be even better if you could install some high-powered weapons nearby. If anything comes out of the door, don’t let anyone get close. Use verbal commands first. If they don’t obey, don’t hesitate—just blast them with cannons.”

Guo Changming froze at her words. “Are the people from other worlds really that powerful?” he asked. “Are they so strong that we can’t even approach them?”

“It’s not just humans,” Tu Ran replied. “There are also other species, and creatures we don’t even know about.”

Tu Ran understood what Guo Changming meant. Her violent suggestion went against his usual belief in peaceful negotiations.

“If they’re willing to negotiate peacefully with us, after we express our intentions, they will follow our instructions. If they resist, it means they have no intention of peace. Keeping them alive would be pointless—killing them would reduce the risk.”

Yu Boming looked up at Tu Ran with a glance.

He was a soldier, and compared to Guo Changming, he understood Tu Ran’s meaning more clearly, agreeing with her views.

What surprised him was that Tu Ran had said those words. He had reviewed her profile before—before her soul had crossed into that world, she had been a recent college graduate, struggling to find work. Her life hadn’t been wealthy, yet she donated part of her earnings to an orphanage and often fed stray cats outside her apartment building.

But in just six months, her speech and actions were filled with cruelty and bloodshed, and it seemed she had become accustomed to it.

“Leave some people here to guard. We’re going to the next place.” The fixed doors weren’t just one; Tu Ran had wandered around many places today and found other doors.

They didn’t waste any time. After leaving one soldier from the helicopter behind, the rest boarded the other two helicopters and flew to the next location according to Tu Ran’s instructions.

On the helicopter, Yu Boming raised a question. “Will the fixed doors stay open all the time?”

Tu Ran shook her head. “The doors to the Technological World open and close intermittently. This door may be the same, but the situation in each world is different. You’ll need to assign someone specifically to monitor the door and identify any patterns.”

Yu Boming nodded thoughtfully.

The helicopter landed at the location Tu Ran had indicated. After marking the position of the fixed door, they flew to the next site.

Tu Ran found a total of five fixed doors, each guarded by heavy troops. Scientists from the Academy of Sciences rushed to the area around each door to begin their research overnight.

At 2 a.m., the helicopter landed at the main headquarters of the Academy of Sciences.

Tu Ran was escorted to a room next to Xiang Sheng’s.

They had only found the doors today, but hadn’t inquired about the other aspects of the world fusion. Tu Ran was temporarily kept there and would undergo a detailed interrogation the next day.

After running around since 6 a.m., Tu Ran was exhausted.

She had been wandering the streets for days and hadn’t had a chance to wash up properly. So, she fought off her sleepiness, took a quick shower, changed into the pajamas that had already been prepared for her, and quickly fell asleep in bed.

The next day at 7 a.m., she was woken by the sound of the door being pushed open.

With a swift motion, Tu Ran sprang to her feet, landing in the center of the bed, her body tense and ready, eyes locked on the newcomer.

The young officer responsible for delivering meals was startled by Tu Ran’s sudden movement. She had heard some rumors about Tu Ran—how she had died and come back to life, how she was from another world, and how she had killed many people.

The officer was a bit afraid of her and stammered, “I-I’m here to deliver breakfast.”

Tu Ran tossed herself back onto the bed, closing her eyes and rubbing her temples. Her head throbbed as if it might explode, probably from all the use of her [Sense of Direction] yesterday.

“Just leave it there,” Tu Ran said.

Wasn’t the [Ability Identification] guy supposed to have said that once she collected enough mental energy, she wouldn’t need to expend physical energy to use her abilities? Why did she feel more exhausted now than before she had any mental power?

It seemed her doubt was heard, as a green light screen appeared in her mind.

[Sense of Direction is an advanced ability. Please repeat after me: High, Advanced, Ability. Don’t underestimate the mental energy consumption of any advanced ability.]

Tu Ran muttered to herself, “After just a few days, you’ve evolved to the point where you can be sarcastic?”

[Not as much as you.]

With just those three words, no matter how much Tu Ran tried to argue, there was no further response.
