Developing Superpowers in Another World

Mental Power Accumulation and Inheritance

Chapter 296 – Mental Power Accumulation and Inheritance

The beast continued to retreat, quickly backing into a giant rock in the stone forest, with no way left to escape.

Tu Ran seized the opportunity, her claws tearing through its face. Three deep, bone-visible gashes appeared on its face, stretching from its right eye down to its chin, a sight that was truly shocking.

The giant bear let out a furious roar and charged toward Tu Ran, braving her attack.

Tu Ran controlled the mecha to quickly dodge, vanishing in front of the beast.

The creature stood dazed, staring at the empty space where Tu Ran had been.

At that moment, Tu Ran, like a ghost, appeared on its side. Without a sound, she raised her steel claws and swung at it.

As her sharp claws pierced its thick fur, the beast jolted, leaping up in pain. With the force of its jump, Tu Ran pulled the steel claws backward, tearing a whole patch of fur from its body, exposing the pink flesh underneath.

Tu Ran sucked in a breath, feeling sorry for its waist.

The intense pain made the beast even more enraged. Its hatred for Tu Ran reached its peak, and it let out a deep growl from its chest before recklessly lunging at her.

It was too slow, and Tu Ran easily dodged its attack, almost effortlessly.

The giant bear’s sharp teeth missed Tu Ran and instead bit into a large rock behind her. The rock had been eroded by the wind over many years, filled with numerous holes. The bear’s teeth became lodged in one of these holes and couldn’t be pulled out, no matter how hard it tried.

Tu Ran’s eyes lit up. This was the perfect opportunity!

Without hesitation, she steered the mecha toward the bear’s back, raising her claws high. As she neared the bear, she brought them down.

The half-meter-long steel claws scraped across the bear’s back neck, circling around its throat, slicing through its blood vessels. Blood gushed out.

Instinctively, Tu Ran took a few steps back, avoiding the splatter of blood.

The giant bear struggled, finally pulling its teeth free from the crack in the stone.

It immediately pressed one paw to its neck wound, but blood continued to pour out.

It glared at Tu Ran, baring its teeth in a snarl. Tu Ran noticed that one of its teeth had broken off halfway and was lodged in the rock behind it.

Still not dead. Tu Ran looked down at her biological weapon, noting that two of her claws had broken off during the last strike, leaving jagged half-ends exposed.

This bear’s skin was really tough.

The giant bear continued to snarl at her and slowly backed away.

It had realized it couldn’t win against Tu Ran and was trying to retreat.

Tu Ran wouldn’t let it escape. She threw the broken claw to the ground, stepped over it, and fixed her gaze on the bear, a cruel smile dancing in her eyes.

“Now, this is where the real fun begins.”

As her words fell, Tu Ran crouched and leapt into the air, her form bending like a bow. The remaining claw was raised high, carrying the force of thunder.

The giant bear could only watch as the half-meter-long claw sliced through its side, carving across its belly before pulling out, leaving a trail of fresh blood behind.

The beast was already covered in wounds.

But that wasn’t the end. The next strike came swiftly, cutting down from its shoulder.

The bear collapsed under the sheer force, hitting the ground with a heavy thud, howling in pain as a pool of blood began to form beneath it.

Tu Ran didn’t immediately finish it off. Instead, she moved closer.

The giant bear trembled in fear at her approach, its body shaking violently.

Meanwhile, drones captured the scene. Back on the main star, viewers in the live stream couldn’t contain their excitement as they watched the once-arrogant beast now subdued by Tu Ran.

The comments flooded in:

[This is so satisfying to watch!]

[Me too, the anger in my heart just melted away. Feels good.]

[I thought it was so powerful, but turns out it’s just a bully, preying on the weak.]

[That’s how it should be treated. If it were us humans caught by them, they wouldn’t let us die easily.]

[She did what I’ve always wanted to do but never had the chance.]

[Let them see what humans are capable of. Let’s see if they dare invade our stars again.]

[With a bear like that, I never imagined it would kneel and beg for mercy. Don’t let it off easy. Don’t let it die too quickly!]

[Yeah, don’t let it off easy!]

The comment section exploded with suggestions on how to deal with the bear, hoping for something satisfying.

Far away on Star 4344, Tu Ran couldn’t see the discussion. She walked up to the giant bear, placing her steel claws on its shoulder.

Tilting her head, she sneered at it, “Not all that arrogant now? Not baring your teeth? Why aren’t you doing that now?”

The giant bear made a few gurgling sounds from its throat.

It sounded like it was trying to speak, but unfortunately, Tu Ran couldn’t understand.

Her [Language Talent] didn’t work in this world.

Tu Ran could roughly tell the bear was begging for mercy, judging by its submissive and pleading expression.

She snorted dismissively.

“Tch, you’re supposed to be a big boss, and this is how you act? I overestimated you.”

When she jumped down from the air earlier, she had imagined an epic battle where they would clash for three hundred rounds, and she had even considered using [Illusion Realm] during the fight.

But she hadn’t expected the bear to be so fragile.

At this point, the giant bear was half-kneeling on the ground, covered in wounds, looking pitiful.

Tu Ran stood over it, a head taller, and raised her hand, the mecha’s palm pressing down onto the bear’s skull. She narrowed her eyes slowly and began to read its memories.

“How did you control those beasts?”

Amidst the chaotic images, Tu Ran found the answer she was looking for.

It was mental power.

The beasts also had mental power.

However, the beasts were less intelligent, and very few of them had the naturally strong mental power that humans did.

Their innate mental power was so minimal that it couldn’t manifest.

Beasts’ mental power had an accumulative and hereditary nature—offspring could inherit the amount of mental power from the previous generation, and increase their own power on top of that.

If this process continued over many generations, eventually there would be a beast with an immense reserve of mental power.

At that point, the effects of that power would become apparent.

It would allow them to control other beasts.

By linking their mental power with the brains of beasts from various species, they could make them obey their commands.

This would give them the ability to unite different species and make them submit.

The first species of beasts to arrive on Star 4344 were the brown bears.

The brown bear species was one of the first beast species to appear in the Haenden star system.

Before arriving on Star 4344, the brown bear species had accumulated several times the amount of mental power compared to other species. After landing on 4344, the brown bears had reproduced and evolved for several generations, and their mental power had finally reached a sufficient level. This resulted in the emergence of the first brown bear in the entire species with the ability to control others.

Scientists in the Haenden star system had noticed the evolution of the beasts due to the existence of the mental power accumulation and hereditary system.

After the human army arrived on Star 4344 and wiped out the first group of beasts, the brown bears sensed something was wrong. They immediately activated their mental control, uniting with other beasts and launching an attack on the humans.
