Nutrient Solution

Chapter 20 – Nutrient Solution

“Not bad,” Tu Ran said.

Although she had only slept for three hours, she was now full of energy.

“Haven’t you remembered anything?”

In the reflection from the elevator’s metal door, Tu Ran saw Xi Chunzhi’s expectant look.

“No,” she replied.

Xi Chunzhi was silent for a moment, then changed the subject, “Have you had breakfast?” She added, “You usually have breakfast.”

Xi Chunzhi really knew the original Tu Ran well.

Their relationship was more than enough to be called best friends. Considering they had undergone five years of training together, they were as close as comrades in arms.

In her original world, Tu Ran didn’t have any best friends, nor even a single friend who really knew her.

Facing Xi Chunzhi’s concern now, she still felt a bit uncomfortable.

“I haven’t eaten,” she said.

Xi Chunzhi let out a light snort, “If you keep skipping meals, your body might collapse.”

Tu Ran pursed her lips but didn’t say anything.

The elevator soon descended to the ground floor.

After exiting the elevator, Xi Chunzhi didn’t take her directly to the suspended rail station but went to the nearby convenience store at the community gate.

It was a very small convenience store, crammed with scattered items.

Xi Chunzhi picked up a pink bottle-shaped liquid and paid the owner.

Leaving the convenience store, she handed the bottle to Tu Ran.

The palm-sized bottle had the words “Peach-flavored Nutrient Solution” written on it.

Was this a nutrient solution?

She had just noticed that even in that tiny convenience store, there were two shelves full of various sizes of these nutrient solutions.

It seemed they were quite popular.

“We have a busy day ahead. If you don’t replenish your energy, your body won’t hold up. Drink it on the way; there won’t be time once we get there.”

She glanced at the communicator on her wrist and headed towards the suspended rail station.

Tu Ran didn’t know what was planned for today, but she trusted Xi Chunzhi’s words. She quickly gulped down the drink and caught up with Xi Chunzhi.

They got off at the administrative building station.

This was Tu Ran’s first time seeing the towering skyscraper up close.

Yesterday, she had only seen the neon-lit sign “Administrative Building” from a distance while on the suspended rail.

By day, without the neon lights, the administrative building looked even more solemn and dignified.

Inside, the world suddenly seemed to become busier.

People in different uniforms bustled about, each walking with a steady and quick pace. Some carried documents and wore glasses, while others were dressed in combat gear, fully armed with guns.

No one paid attention to Tu Ran and Xi Chunzhi as they entered.

Tu Ran maintained a half-meter distance from Xi Chunzhi, passing through the lobby and waiting at the elevator.

During this time, the two did not speak.

This was the administrative building, monitored everywhere, with AI eyes watching them every moment. Tu Ran knew that saying less meant making fewer mistakes, and saying nothing meant making no mistakes. This was a matter of life and death, and she took it very seriously.

When the elevator doors opened, a group of men in black combat uniforms, holding guns, emerged.

Tu Ran kept a straight face but couldn’t help but admire them internally. Men in full combat gear were undeniably handsome.

For example, that guy, Xie Xu.

Incredibly handsome.

However, as they brushed past each other, Tu Ran heard one of them blow a light, teasing whistle.

Her admiration shattered instantly.

Tu Ran turned her head to glare.

Unfortunately, they all looked the same, making it hard to identify who it was.

Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a blur flying past her and kicking one of the men in the back.

It was Xi Chunzhi.

The man stumbled forward from the kick, luckily caught by his companions before he could fall flat on his face.
