Laser Gun

Chapter 183 – Laser Gun

The monster’s skin was intact.

However, that bullet must have hurt it because it roared and charged furiously toward this direction.

It held a grudge.

Aside from eating, only hatred could make it move so many steps.

As it drew closer, the ground began to shake violently, as if a giant beast was rolling beneath the surface.

Tu Ran swiftly dodged out of the way.

Her speed was so astonishing that it left everyone watching in front of their screens in shock.

By now, everyone knew she was Tu Ran.

The genius student whom the instructors constantly praised.

The legendary figure of the training base.

Everyone thought she was going to take the initiative and showcase a flashy move, but to their surprise, she ran away.

“She runs fast,” someone exclaimed.

This immediately sparked a round of agreement.

Apart from Tu Ran, all the other pioneers within the monster’s target range scattered.

Although the monster had tough skin and immense strength, it was very slow.

As long as the pioneers didn’t provoke it, it couldn’t even touch the hem of their clothes.

“Why are they all running? Go attack it!”

Someone in the conference room couldn’t sit still.

“What’s wrong with this group? So timid! At this rate, when will they ever kill this genetic monster? We might as well do it ourselves! We’d definitely finish it off faster!”

The people around him didn’t even spare him a glance.

This guy was notorious for bragging, lacking any real skills, and loved to criticize others.

“Go ahead if you want, just don’t drag us into it!” someone replied sarcastically.

“I would if Zero would allow me to go out!”

“Hmph…” The surrounding people responded with a chorus of mocking laughter.

The man clenched his fists in anger, but he didn’t dare say another word.

Tu Ran circled back behind the pioneers, quietly observing the battle.

“Everyone, move aside.”

A cold, female voice suddenly rang out.

Tu Ran looked in the direction of the voice.

It was Yao Bei.

They were in the same Fourth Squad during the Reigaken State operation, and she was the senior Tu Ran had wanted to follow but couldn’t.

Yao Bei had also been lingering on the outskirts, holding a uniquely shaped gun.

The barrel was thick, the body sleek, and its dark blue exterior and minimalist design made the entire weapon look exceptionally advanced.

A laser gun.

Highly destructive and considered rare across the entire Federation.

Even the second-batch pioneers in the conference room, and the first-batch pioneers on-site, were all shocked.

Pairs of eyes were glued to the laser gun, unable to look away.

It was common knowledge that out of the thousands of pioneers, only three laser guns were in circulation.

Every time someone wanted to use a laser gun, they had to write a detailed report and submit it to the relevant department for approval—a cumbersome process that often ended in rejection.

Subconsciously, everyone assumed that no one could actually use those three laser guns.

So, seeing someone suddenly wielding one left them all utterly speechless.

“Why didn’t you use the laser gun earlier?” muttered Liu Quanye, the man who had first used an Erest 700 handgun.

But Yao Bei still heard him.

She raised an eyebrow, giving him a brief glance, “I just arrived.”

Liu Quanye: “…No wonder I didn’t see you earlier.”

Yao Bei didn’t bother responding further. She raised the laser gun, focused entirely on aiming at the monster’s back.

She pulled the trigger, and a bright blue laser shot out like a beam of blue fire, silently and swiftly piercing into the monster’s body.

In an instant, the monster threw its head back and let out a howl.

Everyone covered their ears.

But the firing didn’t stop.

The monster rolled and dodged, but the laser gun relentlessly followed its movements. Scorched and in pain, it hopped around helplessly before curling itself into a tight ball, exposing its toughest back to shield against the laser’s attacks.

After three more consecutive shots, the energy gauge beside the laser gun showed it was down to half.

The woman released the trigger.

At this point, the monster remained curled up, with only slight burn marks on its back.

“How is that possible?!” Everyone was stunned!

Up until now, nothing had been able to withstand a laser gun’s shot—not even those alien species. No matter how impervious their skin was, they all yielded before the laser gun.

Yet this genetic monster, evolved from a human who had consumed a divine medicine, managed to resist the laser gun’s attack.

So what could possibly cut through its skin?

From the back of the crowd, Tu Ran thought: Of course, her [Mountain Collapse and Earth Crack] could! It would definitely tear its skin apart.

But unfortunately, she couldn’t use it!

That left only the most straightforward method!

“Everyone, work together! Throw the bombs into its mouth!” Tu Ran commanded.

Someone raised an objection, “It’s not stupid! It won’t just swallow anything we throw at it! If it spits it out, we’ll be the ones in trouble!”

“I agree! We should notify the Federal Executive Department to send heavy mechas! No matter how tough its skin is, heavy mechas can easily handle it.”

Tu Ran glanced around and noticed that quite a few people shared this sentiment.

Huh? Weren’t they all just competing to see who was the toughest? Why are they chickening out now?

She took a step back and leisurely leaned against the edge of a table.

Giving up, huh? Who couldn’t do that?

If they weren’t going to act, why should she risk her life?

Everyone joined in the passive stance, and the scene fell into complete silence. No one moved, not even the monster curled up into a ball.

Some of the group exchanged uncertain glances.

In truth, they thought Tu Ran’s suggestion had merit and was worth trying.

Liu Quanye was the first to lose patience, shouting in a gruff voice, “You bunch of cowards! How can you even show your faces at someone’s graduation ceremony?”

“You can’t even kill a single monster and have to rely on the Executive Department’s mechas! I’m embarrassed to be waiting for mechas with you!”

He looked over at Tu Ran. “Hey…”

He leaned in to glance at Tu Ran’s name tag.

“Tu Ran, huh? I’ll follow your lead! You give the orders! How are we gonna get it to open its mouth? I’m fine with being bait—after all, that thing probably hates me by now.”

Yao Bei, still holding the laser gun, spoke up as well, “I’ve already used up half the battery. If we don’t finish it off, I won’t be satisfied! Let them wait for the mechas if they want, but we’ll do our part first!”

Min Tao also stepped forward, “Tu Ran, you lead. I’ll follow you. We can’t let our Pioneer Team lose face.”

Gradually, more people stepped up, expressing their willingness to follow Tu Ran and shove the bomb into the monster’s mouth, rather than wait for the Executive Department’s mechas to handle what should have been their job.

The few who had spoken up earlier looked visibly uncomfortable.

Now, the scene made them look spineless.

“Let’s do it! Who’s afraid?” they shouted.

The group’s morale surged.

Tu Ran, who had been silent, stood up straight and said calmly, “I don’t have a specific plan. Just like before, act as you see fit. As long as we get the bomb into its mouth, the job’s done.”

“Alright!”

Everyone agreed, turning their attention to the genetic monster curled up into a ball.

It looked like an egg, tucked tightly within itself.

And suddenly, they all hesitated.
