Developing Superpowers in Another World

Don’t Shoot!

Chapter 181 – Don’t Shoot!

At the moment of impending contact, the monster lifted its head, its face, greasy and fierce, intent on devouring its prey. It swung its arm and caught Tu Ran’s long sword.

Tu Ran’s gaze turned cold as she quickly withdrew the sword, but the monster acted first, tossing both the sword and her away.

Tu Ran flew through the air in a parabolic arc and crashed into the crowd.

It happened to be the same group of people who had been gathered together earlier.

Fortunately, she reacted swiftly, rolling several times upon landing to absorb some of the impact, preventing her from being knocked nearly unconscious like the previous person.

The crowd, which had been concerned about the earlier man, was startled by the sudden appearance of another person.

“What’s going on?”

Before they could react, two more people crashed down in quick succession.

“Ahhh!!! Boom!”

Xiao Di landed face down, nearly rolling his eyes in pain.

To make matters worse, Min Tao crashed directly onto him.

“Damn it—” Xiao Di passed out.

They had just followed Tu Ran’s orders to attack from both sides, but not only had they failed to control the monster, they had been thrown away by its powerful blows.

Min Tao got up from Xiao Di, seeing his condition and lifting him onto a nearby table to prevent him from being trampled, then turned to Tu Ran with a serious expression. “It’s a genetic monster; its strength is too great!”

“A genetic monster?”

The people around looked at each other in confusion at those words.

Most of them were from the second batch of pioneers and had not encountered genetic monsters before, only hearing about them recently in the news.

“Where is it? I didn’t see it!”

Some people looked around curiously.

“Is it real? How could there be genetic monsters at the base?”

Others were eager to try their hand at it.

“Where is it? I want to test my skills! I’ve never fought a real genetic monster before.”

“Me too!”

“Me too!”

“But I can’t find it anywhere.”

Tu Ran bent down to pick up the sword from the ground.

She sighed inwardly, marveling at how these people had such poor observation skills.

How could they miss such a large monster?

Although there was some distance and people were dancing and lost in the music, the monster was almost lifting tables and gnawing on them.

Such an odd sight, and yet no one had noticed.

“You all,” Tu Ran took a deep breath, gripping the hilt of her sword tightly, “Look at me!”

The people around looked at her in confusion.

Who is she? Why should they look at her?

However, her name on the badge seemed familiar…

Tu Ran?

…Tu Ran!!

Wow, the Tu Ran who held off all the instructors for 35 minutes in single combat? The exemplary Tu Ran all the instructors talked about?

Wow!!!

Tu Ran, however, didn’t care about their reactions. She leaped out of the crowd, jumped onto a table, and then vaulted directly in front of the monster. With both hands holding the sword, she brought it down with all her might.

The monster reacted quickly, raising its arm to repeat its earlier action.

But Tu Ran was not one to make the same mistake twice. She quickly moved away, landing behind it in an instant, and brought her blade silently close to its neck.

“Swish!”

The blade struck its nape.

Sparks flew from the contact.

Yet it remained unscathed.

Tu Ran: Not again!

Why?!!!

Why are both aliens and genetic monsters’ exoskeletons so impervious to blades and guns?

The monster reacted, reaching behind it. Tu Ran nimbly evaded and adjusted her angle, aiming another strike.

Still, sparks flew without leaving a mark.

Under the pulsating music, their fight gradually attracted more and more attention.

Unable to catch Tu Ran, the monster became utterly enraged. It lifted an entire table, which contained five seats, and hurled it towards her position.

Tu Ran immediately backed away, ducking between two rows of tables to hide.

The flying table came crashing down overhead. Luckily, the two tables in front and behind her intercepted it, otherwise, she would have been crushed and injured severely.

Those who were still standing in place and hadn’t reacted were not so fortunate.

They were directly knocked to the ground, a whole row of people going down.

The monster had no intention of letting Tu Ran go.

Its anger towards this persistent provocateur reached its peak.

There were still seven or eight rows of tables between it and Tu Ran.

It started throwing the obstructing tables one by one. With its immense strength, each table was flung a dozen meters away with ease.

The pioneers who had been dancing were startled by the sudden airborne tables, scattering in all directions.

Some, who hadn’t reacted in time, were mostly new graduates.

They had never experienced real combat and hadn’t considered that danger could strike at their graduation party. Their sense of caution was almost nonexistent.

Those who were lucky had been quickly pulled away by first-batch pioneers, escaping being crushed at the very start of their lives.

The unfortunate ones were pinned beneath, losing consciousness.

By now, everyone in the venue had noticed something was wrong.

The music continued, but no one danced.

Those further away didn’t know what was happening, only seeing a few people with head injuries being carried out of the venue.

Crouching under the table, Tu Ran saw the pair of feet gradually approaching her.

The standard-issue combat boots had already been torn apart, hanging from the monster’s legs. Its thick, massive feet hit the ground with every step, causing slight tremors, as if a giant was walking.

It was coming closer.

Tu Ran peeked out and quickly raised her machine gun, aiming at the monster and opening fire.

“Bang! Bang!”

She only managed two shots before ceasing fire.

The bullets that hit the monster ricocheted off and, at almost the same speed, shot into the tables beside her.

By a hair’s breadth.

By a hair’s breadth, they almost hit her.

Others around her were preparing to shoot as well.

Tu Ran shouted urgently, “Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!!”

“Bang!”

Yet someone failed to control their trigger. Despite Tu Ran’s warning, they fired.

“Pfft!”

The bullet returned along its original path, striking the shooter in the chest.

The monster was now almost on top of them.

Tu Ran leaped out from behind the table, quickly retreating.

The monster’s claw nearly grabbed her.

In its fury, it lifted a table and swung it at Tu Ran’s back.

Tu Ran immediately crouched down again, shouting to the others, “Get out of the way!”

This time, the table missed its target. The prepared people swiftly moved aside, avoiding injury.

Tu Ran emerged once more, “Zero, quickly inform those outside to evacuate! The crowd is too dense here, it’s disadvantageous for us. Also, warn them not to shoot—the monster will rebound bullets. Anyone who shoots will be killed!”

“Attention! Attention! Second-batch pioneers, please evacuate the training ground immediately. Second-batch pioneers, please evacuate the training ground. First-batch pioneers, stay behind. First-batch pioneers, stay behind!”

“Attention! Attention! Everyone, do not shoot at the genetic monster! Do not shoot at the genetic monster!”

Zero quickly relayed the warnings through the earpieces of all the pioneers present.
