Developing Superpowers in Another World

The Disgusting Man

Chapter 167 – The Disgusting Man

Tu Ran continued flipping through the comments, noting that many of them were about genetically modified people who had recently appeared in their area.

Some had three heads and six arms, some had sharp teeth and fangs, some had bird-like wings, some could control objects with their minds, and some could even ignite themselves into a fireball, remaining unharmed when the flames extinguished.

The variety was endless.

It was really no different from the mutants within the Threshold.

This was another manifestation of superpowers

No wonder the Federation had to deploy pioneers to deal with these people; handling them was no different from dealing with aliens. These individuals could no longer be considered human.

Tu Ran turned off the communicator.

The bizarre images of those humans kept resurfacing in her mind. At that moment, she noticed a man gradually approaching her.

She remembered that when she got on the vehicle, this man was at the other end of the compartment, about seven or eight meters away. His bright red hair had caught her attention, and she had remembered him immediately. Now, he had moved to a seat only two places away from her.

He was still getting closer.

Tu Ran looked at him.

The man noticed her gaze and directly moved over to her seat.

Tu Ran narrowed her eyes, watching him warily.

The man twitched his nose and then, with a self-satisfied gesture, brushed his red hair that was almost covering his eyes. “Do you remember me, beautiful?”

“Who are you?”

The man brushed his hair again, and Tu Ran watched as a large patch of white dandruff fell from his scalp onto the seat between them.

Tu Ran shifted her bottom away in disgust.

“It’s okay if you don’t recognize me. You will get to know me soon. Let me introduce myself. My name is Wang Hui. I’ve been following you for a long time.” He extended his hand, wanting to shake hands with Tu Ran.

Tu Ran looked at the hand Wang Hui had just used to brush his hair and chose to ignore it.

Wang Hui, feeling slighted, darkened his expression. “Don’t you know how to appreciate kindness?”

Tu Ran was bewildered and looked at him with disdain. “Are you crazy or something?”

She didn’t deliberately lower her voice, and the other passengers in the compartment immediately turned to look in their direction.

Under so many gazes, Wang Hui lost his previous arrogance and lowered his voice. “You’re an official from the Federal Government, right?”

“Yes, and?” Tu Ran replied.

“I saw you going to the black market, and you even deliberately dressed as a man.” He stared at Tu Ran with a lecherous smile.

“Did you see which store I went to in the black market?” Tu Ran asked with a faint, inscrutable smile.

“It doesn’t matter which store you went to. The Federal Government doesn’t allow officials to visit the black market privately. You’ve violated the regulations, and if I report you, you’ll be in trouble!” Wang Hui said threateningly.

Tu Ran pretended to be intimidated. “So what do you want me to do so you won’t report me to the Federal Government?”

Wang Hui chuckled arrogantly, observing her reaction with satisfaction. He stroked his chin and let his greasy gaze linger over Tu Ran’s body. “I’m looking for a bed partner tonight. If you serve me well…”

Tu Ran clenched her fists, worried she might slap the disgusting man in front of her.

This was a train! There were cameras! She couldn’t act impulsively! She had to stay calm!

Tu Ran mentally reassured herself, trying to suppress her anger.

“Alright, come to my place,” Tu Ran said with a forced smile.

See how I peel off your skin!

However, Wang Hui, lost in his fantasies, didn’t notice the murderous look in Tu Ran’s eyes. Shaking his red hair, he said in a sleazy tone, “You’re inviting me to your place so soon? Afraid you’ll miss me after tonight?”

Ugh!

Tu Ran felt nauseated.

“Do you know which department I’m from in the Federal Government?”

She was curious. Didn’t this disgusting man get on the train when the infectious aliens appeared? Did he not watch the news afterward?

She had been on the Federation news headlines; she was a pioneer. Didn’t this man keep up with the news? Oh, he might not even be able to afford a communicator with how he is.

The greasy man rested one hand on the back of the seat and brushed his hair with the other. “Just you? A lowly clerical worker, I see. You don’t look like you make much. Stick with me, and I’ll buy you some expensive clothes.”

Tu Ran glanced at her casual outfit.

The original owner had a high pursuit for comfort in clothing.

This outfit cost three thousand Federation credits, which was already a month’s salary for an ordinary citizen in the Federation.

Was that not considered expensive?

Where did this man get his confidence from?

Just from his dandruff?

“Have you heard of pioneers?”

“Of course, I’ve heard of them. I’m not bragging, but I almost made it into the pioneer team. If it weren’t for some people who couldn’t stand my excellence and sabotaged me, I’d be a pioneer by now. At that time, you clerks would be trying to curry favor with me. You think you’d even get a chance?”

Tu Ran was completely speechless. She couldn’t believe that such scum still existed in today’s world.

Ha, if she had to blame someone, it would be herself for not having seen enough of the world.

Her usual interactions were with elite pioneers or, at the very least, people like Zhou Ming.

She had never come into contact with such bottom-feeding citizens of society.

Tu Ran had certainly seen enough of this disgusting man.

“Dawn Station is approaching. Passengers needing to disembark, please gather your belongings. The next stop is Yongchang Station.”

“Get off, we’ve arrived,” Tu Ran said, standing up and leaving the compartment first.

The disgusting man, fearing Tu Ran might escape, immediately followed closely behind her, even trying to grab her hand.

Tu Ran sidestepped easily, avoiding his attempt.

The disgusting man, not yet realizing Tu Ran’s reflexes were beyond ordinary, reached out again to touch her waist.

Tu Ran quickly moved a few steps forward, subtly avoiding him.

She was eager to return to her shabby neighborhood.

The neighborhood had no surveillance cameras.

She could deal with him however she wanted.

The disgusting man, frustrated at missing his chance, was nonetheless reassured by the thought that she had brought him to her home. It was only a matter of time before he got what he wanted, so he tried not to rush it.

Licking his lips, he followed closely behind Tu Ran, his eyes greedily roving over her.

Finally, after turning a corner, the vibrant neon lights of the roadside vanished, leaving only a few old, yellowish street lamps casting a dim light.

They had arrived.

Tu Ran stopped.

The disgusting man, still lost in his fantasies, noticed Tu Ran’s halt and immediately stopped as well. He wiped the drool from his mouth and looked around. “Why have we stopped? Are we—”

A dagger was drawn and pressed against his neck in an instant.

The disgusting man’s unfinished words were swallowed in his throat as he stared at Tu Ran in terror.

“Speak up! Why did you stop talking? I’ve endured you all this way! If you don’t want these eyes, I’ll dig them out for you!”

“Ah, no, no, no…” Wang Hui trembled in fear. “It’s a misunderstanding, misunderstanding… I-I didn’t mean it… Please spare me…”
