Developing Superpowers in Another World

Reporting Zhao Yan

Chapter 164 – Reporting Zhao Yan

Perfect!

Tu Ran had silently arranged everything in her mind.

Now, looking at Xie Xu, she felt no anger at all, but rather a satisfaction that a great revenge was about to be achieved.

But she didn’t show it on her face.

Xie Xu was very perceptive of subtle expressions. Any slip-up might arouse his suspicion, so she had to be extremely careful.

Xie Xu leaned back in his chair and suddenly smirked. “It seems like you’re quite confident now.”

Tu Ran paused and touched her face. How did he perceive that from her expressionless face?

If it weren’t for the fact that he didn’t have a green light screen appearing over his head, Tu Ran would have thought he also had superpowers, similar to telepathy.

She changed the subject. “Since you’re so good at guessing, why don’t you guess why I came to see you?”

The method of changing the subject seemed a bit clumsy, but Xie Xu knew he wouldn’t get anything out of Tu Ran’s mouth, so he followed along with her new topic.

“You did many suspicious things within the Threshold. To avoid leaving evidence, you destroyed your holographic recording bracelet. But now, the Federation has switched to memory readers. You came to ask me to help you avoid the memory reading in three days.”

Xie Xu spoke these words with a neutral expression. The only shift in his demeanor came with his next question. “I’m curious about how you removed the new bracelet. The factory inspection of this bracelet was done by me, and I tried all methods to avoid damaging it.”

“You reported to the Federation that the bracelet was gone when you woke up after falling into a coma. I don’t believe that explanation. Should I assume that you have a certain superpower that allows you to destroy bracelets?”

Tu Ran didn’t want to answer any questions about her superpowers. The more she said, the more accurately Xie Xu would guess.

“So, will you help or not?” Tu Ran asked directly.

“That depends on your sincerity.”

“Do you still honor that previous deal?”

He owed her a wish.

Xie Xu raised an eyebrow, surprised that her sincerity was only this. He had overestimated her.

His tone became indifferent. “I’ll honor it, but I think this opportunity could be used for something greater. Are you sure you want to waste it here?”

“Of course not,” Tu Ran replied, taking off her backpack. “I just wanted to see if you had forgotten.”

Xie Xu: “…”

Tu Ran unzipped her backpack and pulled out a small box.

She didn’t hand it directly to Xie Xu.

“How many inner cores has the Federation found so far?”

Xie Xu glanced at the box in her hand.

“One. Following the amphibian alien’s instructions, the Federation found a glowing bead inside a reptilian alien, which matches the description given by the amphibian alien.”

“And the effects? Have you tested it? What type of superpower does it grant?” Tu Ran asked further.

“We tested it,” Xie Xu said flatly. “The deputy director of the Executive Department tried it himself. After consuming the inner core, he gained a hearing ability far superior to a human’s, able to clearly hear the sound of ants crawling within a hundred meters.”

Tu Ran nodded. It seemed Xie Xu hadn’t thoroughly researched inner cores yet.

She handed the box to Xie Xu. “This is an inner core I found. It’s for you to study. Is this sincere enough?”

Xie Xu’s face showed no surprise, as if he had expected this all along.

He opened the box to reveal a sparkling inner core lying quietly in the corner.

“What kind of superpower?” Xie Xu asked.

“Perfect figure.”

“?” Xie Xu looked at Tu Ran uncertainly.

“Eating this inner core will give you the perfect figure that never gains weight no matter how much you eat,” Tu Ran explained with a smile.

Xie Xu: “…”

Although he had already known that Tu Ran wouldn’t give him a useful inner core, he hadn’t expected it to be this useless.

Forget it, he was only interested in researching the principles of inner cores and had no intention of consuming it.

He picked up the inner core to examine it closely.

“Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention that I found this inner core inside a worm.”

Xie Xu: “…”

His face darkened instantly. He quickly threw the inner core back into the box and pulled out a wet tissue from his pocket to wipe his fingers.

Tu Ran bit her lip, suppressing the twitching of her cheeks.

Xie Xu stared at her intensely.

“Don’t worry, I cleaned it several times. It’s definitely clean.”

Xie Xu coldly said, “I hope you don’t do such childish things in the future.”

Childish? She didn’t think so.

Seeing Xie Xu’s misfortune, Tu Ran couldn’t have been happier.

However, noticing that Xie Xu looked quite unwell, she felt she should make amends.

“I have something even more sincere. Want to know?”

Xie Xu pressed his lips together and remained silent.

Tu Ran shrugged and continued, “Do you know Zhao Yan from the Pioneer Team?”

“No,” Xie Xu replied coldly.

“That’s fine. I suggest you stay away from him, at least ten meters away.”

“Why?”

“He already knows about inner cores. He has one called [Telepathy]. With this superpower, he can detect the thoughts of any creature within a ten-meter radius.”

Xie Xu’s brows furrowed slightly. “So, if I’m within his ten meters, my thoughts become transparent, and he can view them at will?”

“Yes,” Tu Ran nodded. “Anything you think at that moment will be visible to him.”

Xie Xu’s expression darkened.

[Telepathy] had changed his understanding of superpowers.

This ability had a negative impact on everyone.

No one wanted their thoughts to be seen by others, especially someone like Xie Xu, who was always scheming.

This was why Tu Ran had decided to inform him.

She might not be able to deal with Zhao Yan immediately, but that didn’t mean Xie Xu couldn’t handle him.

“Does he have any other superpowers besides telepathy?”

“Time Pause. He can pause the flow of time throughout the entire universe for one second.”

“Mental Control. He can control any object within ten meters, but the object’s weight cannot exceed his own strength.”

“Just those three?” Xie Xu asked.

“Yes,” Tu Ran nodded.

Xie Xu began to tap his fingers on the table rhythmically, deep in thought about how to deal with this person.

“Well, take your time thinking. I’ll be going now,” Tu Ran said as she slung her backpack over her shoulder. “Remember to keep your promise.”

She made as if to leave.

Xie Xu called her back.

Tu Ran turned around, puzzled, and looked at him questioningly.

“Is there something else you need to say?”

“After dealing with the memory reader issue and Zhao Yan’s threat, aren’t you planning to deal with me next?”

Tu Ran was taken aback. Was he asking so directly? No pretense or beating around the bush? How was she supposed to respond?

Answer no?

Putting aside whether Xie Xu would believe her, she was worried that saying it might make her laugh at the absurdity of it.

Answer yes?
