Developing Superpowers in Another World

Level Limitations

Chapter 129 – Level Limitations

The red-crested leader would relay these words verbatim upon returning to the tribe, ensuring that the Dang Hu tribe would direct all their aggression toward the Pao Xiao without suspecting the “deceased” Pangpang.

Tu Ran jumped down from the tree.

The moment she landed, the vibrant mushroom swiftly shriveled into small black pieces.

Tu Ran took the blood-stained dagger and inner core from Pangpang’s wings, cleaned them, placed one back into its sheath, and fed the other into her mouth.

A refreshing sensation spread through her body due to the freely flowing air.

A panel appeared in her mind.

It clearly listed the superpowers she possessed.

“Primary Abilities: [Teleportation] [Illusory Realm]”

“Intermediate Abilities: [Future Prediction] [Memory Reading] [Poison Immunity]”

“Advanced Abilities: [Superpower Recognition] [Language Talent]”

Below, there were a few lines of small text explaining the classification of primary, intermediate, and advanced abilities.

[Accumulating enough primary abilities allows the promotion of one primary ability to an intermediate ability. Similarly, accumulating enough intermediate abilities allows the promotion of one intermediate ability to an advanced ability.]

In other words, the levels of primary, intermediate, and advanced abilities were not fixed and could be elevated step by step. The upgraded abilities would be more powerful than before.

After reading this section, she noticed an asterisk below.

Following the asterisk was a sentence: [Additional restrictions on auxiliary abilities:]

[*Additional restrictions on auxiliary abilities:

Auxiliary abilities at each level can only affect combat abilities of the same level or lower. For instance, primary auxiliary abilities can only affect those with primary combat abilities or those without abilities, but not those with intermediate or advanced combat abilities. However, they are effective against those with intermediate or advanced auxiliary abilities.]

Tu Ran took a moment to process this.

This meant that whether an auxiliary ability could be used depended on whether the opponent had a combat ability of a higher level than hers.

If there was a higher-level combat ability, auxiliary abilities would be ineffective.

Tu Ran sadly realized that among all the abilities she currently possessed, only [Teleportation] was a combat ability; the rest were all auxiliary.

[Future Prediction] and [Memory Reading] were auxiliary abilities she obtained from the Hook Snake. True to their names, one predicted the future, while the other viewed the past.

She could reliably use [Memory Reading], but [Future Prediction] depended entirely on luck.

It seemed that [Future Prediction] only triggered suddenly when she was in urgent situations.

[Illusory Realm] was unearthed from the roots of the Man-eating Vine.

Tu Ran had always valued this ability, especially after easily dealing with the Pheasant Leader using it. She considered this ability her trump card.

She never expected this ability to have level limitations.

And now, it was only at the primary level.

She felt heartbroken.

She continued to take stock of her abilities.

[Language Talent] was stolen from the Henggong Fish, allowing her to understand the language of all creatures.

Being an advanced ability, it worked stably, and she wasn’t worried about encountering situations where she couldn’t understand other species.

[Ability Identification] and [Teleportation] were both newly acquired from the red-crested leader. [Ability Identification], an advanced ability, had already started to show its usefulness. It allowed her to see if any species possessed abilities, which was very helpful to her.

[Teleportation] was a combat ability, and she planned to test its effects later.

Tu Ran was curious about [Poison Immunity].

After she blew up the Gu Diao, she picked up a leftover inner core. Could it be that it had more benefits than just making everything taste good?

She tried to click on [Poison Immunity] in her mind.

An explanation for this ability appeared.

[Poison Immunity]: Intermediate ability. When consuming any food, the body retains only the nutritious parts and automatically expels any toxic parts, causing no harm. Additionally, the taste of the food will align as closely as possible with the user’s expectations.

Tu Ran: Didn’t this mean she could eat any food within the Threshold?

With this ability, she could stay in the Threshold as long as she wanted without worrying about food.

This realization gave her a great surprise.

Unaware, Pangpang had no idea why she was laughing.

It just felt that her prolonged laughter was somewhat unsettling.

“Two-legged beast, let’s hurry. The Dangn Hu tribe could be coming back soon to look for you.”

Tu Ran wiped the smile off her face and grabbed Pangpang by the back of its neck.

Before Pangpang could react to what she was doing, a gust of wind pushed all its fur back, and its eyes closed tightly against the force.

The next second, the wind stopped abruptly, and Pangpang’s feet were on solid ground.

Opening its eyes, Pangpang was shocked by the scene in front of it.

It was the familiar cave.

The same cave they had left this morning.

In just an instant, they were back?! Pangpang couldn’t believe it.

Tu Ran had just tried the [Teleportation] ability and felt it worked very well.

Now, when facing stronger enemies, she could escape if she couldn’t win the fight, eliminating the fear of being unable to flee.

Of course, unless the opponent’s auxiliary abilities could suppress her teleportation.

But she had an advanced ability: Ability Identification.

If she saw that the opponent could suppress her teleportation, she would avoid contact with them.

Either way, she had the upper hand.

Feeling good, Tu Ran’s tone became much gentler, “Are you hungry? If you are, I’ll pick some red-skinned melons for you.”

Pangpang, slightly uncomfortable with the sudden concern, was nonetheless completely distracted by the mention of red-skinned melons, “Red-skinned melons, red-skinned melons! You said if Pangpang succeeds, you’ll pick ten red-skinned melons for Pangpang.”

“Sure, I’ll pick them for you right away. I promise they’ll be enough to fill you up. Follow me and catch them down there,” Tu Ran said.

“Alright, alright!” Pangpang flapped its wings happily, its tail sticking up high.

Following behind Tu Ran, they walked to the grove of red-skinned melons.

These melons hung twenty meters high, and Pangpang could barely fly two meters, so it rarely got to eat them. It only occasionally found some when large creatures fought and broke the trees, causing the melons to scatter on the ground. Then, Pangpang would pick a few good ones to satisfy its cravings.

Now it could eat red-skinned melons to its heart’s content and fill its belly. It was delighted and determined to stick with the two-legged beast for food.

Tu Ran used her [Teleportation] ability, quickly climbing up the twenty-meter-high tree. She picked the remaining seven melons from one tree and then moved to another, picking seven more.

The ground was covered with red-skinned melons, and Pangpang’s mouth started watering uncontrollably.

“Don’t rush, roll them all back to the cave to eat,” Tu Ran said.

“Okay, okay,” Pangpang replied obediently, rolling two melons at a time towards the cave.
