Developing Superpowers in Another World

You Were Brave

Chapter 113 – You Were Brave

The condition of both people was relatively good. One had a slight bump on the forehead, and the other had a twisted leg.

Both were startled by the noise from the next room and sat up.

When Tu Ran entered, their faces tensed up.

Tu Ran looked at the man with a bandaged forehead. “Pack your things and move to another ward.”

“Why do I have to move? Is it because…” He glanced at the woman with the twisted leg in the neighboring bed.

Could this woman be infected? Is that why he had to move?

The woman also became nervous for a moment, her lips trembling slightly.

Could she really be infected?

“Stop overthinking. The room next door is now empty. Separating you two means that if either of you mutates, you won’t harm the other, and we can worry less,” Tu Ran explained.

The man immediately agreed. Having a ward to himself was indeed safer.

He quickly grabbed his coat and followed Tu Ran to the next room.

The first thing he saw was a blood-soaked bed, with an unknown liquid still flowing on the floor.

The man stopped in his tracks.

Could he still change his mind now?

“The front two beds can still be used,” Tu Ran noticed his hesitation and glanced back at him. “What’s more important now, your life or the environment?”

“My life,” the man replied without hesitation.

With determined steps, he walked past the pool of sticky liquid.

After settling him in, Tu Ran left the ward and closed the door.

Now, she wouldn’t have to spend extra attention on these two wards.

Tu Ran continued her rounds outside.

When tired, she would rest for a while in a chair against the wall.

Then she resumed her rounds.

Occasionally, she would glance through the windows to check on the people inside.

For the time being, everyone seemed stable.

The pioneer who had been in room 401 finally came out. After escorting the doctor back to the break room, he looked at Tu Ran.

“I saw you in today’s news,” he greeted.

Tu Ran glanced at his name tag: Zhao Yan.

“You were brave,” he said.

“Thank you,” Tu Ran replied with a polite smile.

“Do you need to rest?” Tu Ran noticed the dark circles under his eyes.

He looked down at his watch. “Just half an hour more, and my replacement will arrive.”

Tu Ran didn’t say anything else and sat back in the chair.

Zhao Yan then patrolled the hallway.

The half hour passed uneventfully.

Half an hour later, the pioneer who came to replace Zhao Yan arrived, bringing lunch for everyone on this floor.

Nutrient solutions.

There were various flavors.

Tu Ran took some from him and delivered them to each ward.

She also delivered three bottles to the rooms of the doctors Meng Fancheng and the other two.

The rest she brought to the break room for Ding Naiqing and the three guards.

Those still in the hallway, including Tu Ran, the new pioneer, and the three patrolling guards, didn’t say a word.

Everyone was in a somber mood, quietly drinking their nutrient solutions.

It didn’t take long for everyone to finish, tossing the bottles into a pile before resuming their duties.

When will this end? Tu Ran looked up helplessly.

She didn’t want to stay here. She wanted to be outside, like the third of the pioneers who monitored potential hidden aliens.

That way, she could move around freely instead of being confined to a blood-stained space.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

Gunshots echoed from the upper floors again.

She couldn’t tell which floor.

Since arriving here, Tu Ran had heard gunshots a dozen times, all coming from the upper floors.
