The Corpse Collector

Chapter 112 – The Corpse Collector

Given the dangerous situation, and suspecting that the patient might already be in a coma, Meng Fancheng raised his hand to lift the quilt.

The moment the quilt was lifted, a foul, bloody smell hit him.

The person inside suddenly sat up and lunged at Meng Fancheng.

The eye sockets had ghastly white eyeballs without pupils.

The fingernails were blackened and elongated.

Blackish-red viscous blood kept oozing from the mouth.

Alien!

Meng Fancheng was so shocked by the sudden scene that he was rooted to the spot, his legs felt like they were frozen, unable to move.

The alien got closer and closer, and Meng Fancheng could clearly see its sharp, bloody teeth.

He cried out in despair inside.

Why couldn’t he move?

He was going to die!

He was going to be bitten to death!

He was going to turn into a disgusting alien!

He was so young.

In that brief moment, he thought about many things.

Just as the alien was less than a centimeter from his neck.

The collar of Meng Fancheng’s shirt was grabbed, and he was yanked two meters back by a strong force.

In an instant, he was away from the alien.

Tu Ran was in front of him.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

Deafening gunshots rang out in rapid succession.

Not a single bullet missed, all shot into the alien’s head.

Its eyeballs exploded, and the fluid from its eyes splattered out.

The bloody brain matter splattered on the equipment behind it.

After the magazine was emptied, the alien’s body could no longer support itself and fell from the bed, hitting the ground headfirst.

The body was grotesquely twisted.

The bloody scene was unbearable to look at.

Gunshots were not rare in these four buildings.

Everyone was used to it.

The staff responsible for collecting the bodies followed the sound of the gunshots into the ward, carrying a stretcher.

The stretcher had carried countless bodies, all stained with blood, in varying shades.

Tu Ran was unfazed, but for Meng Fancheng, it was his first time seeing such a scene. The thought that he had almost ended up on that stretcher made him shiver, and he kept his distance from it.

The corpse collectors didn’t pay much attention to the scene. Manpower was tight, and after dealing with this, they had another waiting. They were numb to it all.

Last night, when they first arrived, they would have felt nauseated, vomited, and hesitated upon seeing such scenes. But now, they had no emotions left.

Mechanically, they lifted the corpse onto the stretcher without caring whether it lay flat. The upper body faced down, the legs up, and they carried it out just like that.

All the bodies were thrown into the incinerator. Since last night, the smoke from the incinerator had not stopped.

The room was now empty except for Tu Ran and Meng Fancheng.

Tu Ran glanced at the other two beds, which were still in order.

She turned and walked out.

“Sister Tu Ran, where are you going?” Meng Fancheng hurriedly picked up the medicine box and followed her.

“You go back to your room,” Tu Ran said without looking at him, heading to another ward.

Meng Fancheng mumbled an “oh” and stopped following her.

No matter where Tu Ran went, it seemed he couldn’t be of any help. Tu Ran would have to divide her attention to protect him.

Feeling dejected, Meng Fancheng carried the medicine box back to his room.

His waiting companions, seeing him return safely, couldn’t hold back their tears.

One of them grabbed Meng Fancheng’s hand. “Fancheng, I thought you were dead!”

Meng Fancheng pushed him away in disgust, “Don’t say things like that!”

Meanwhile, Tu Ran walked directly into ward 405.

This ward had previously seen an alien attack, biting a doctor, and both were shot dead by Ding Naiqing. Now, there were two people left in the ward.
