Developing Superpowers in Another World

Within Three Days

Chapter 110 – Within Three Days

“Pretty much,” Ding Naiqing nodded listlessly, “We’re really short-handed now. A third of our Pioneer Team has been assigned to monitor those survivors without external injuries. The Executive Department’s guards don’t have much experience with the aliens, so we have to be extra vigilant.”

“Monitoring survivors without injuries?” Tu Ran caught onto a crucial point.

She thought of the little girl in the red dress.

A little girl required so many people to monitor?

“Yes, Sister Ran, you might not know, but some of those who haven’t been injured have also mutated.”

Tu Ran frowned, “How is that possible?” She couldn’t understand, “Doesn’t that mean the mutation don’t only spread through blood infection?”

Ding Naiqing shook his head, “The research institute hasn’t figured out the cause yet. But there have been very few cases of non-injured individuals mutating. It’s possible that they did have injuries that the instruments failed to detect.”

Tu Ran’s brows furrowed deeply. It seemed the situation was far worse than she had imagined.

Those who posed the greatest threat to the Federation were the invisible carriers who hadn’t been injured.

“Sister Ran, we just need to guard this place for three days. The researchers said the virus can only incubate in the human body for up to three days. It will definitely erupt within that time.”

This was some relatively good news.

“Alright, I understand. Go rest now.”

Tu Ran patted his shoulder.

Ding Naiqing looked terribly worn out.

After a night of heightened nerves, Tu Ran worried he might collapse and fall asleep any second.

“Okay, I’ll sleep now. If anything happens, call me. I’ll be at the end of the hallway, sleeping with the guards.”

“Got it, go on,” Tu Ran urged.

Ding Naiqing could barely keep his eyes open and trudged towards the rest area.

He could finally close his eyes and rest for a while. With Sister Ran here, he felt at ease.

Tu Ran watched as Ding Naiqing entered the rest area.

After making a round in the corridor, she got a basic understanding of the situation on this floor.

From ward 401 to ward 410, all the rooms housed survivors.

Each room had three occupants.

At the end of the hallway, a small equipment room had been temporarily cleaned out to serve as a rest area for the pioneers and guards.

Another ward was for the three doctors. Now, with one doctor dead, only two remained.

Tu Ran paused at each ward, observing the situation inside through the transparent glass.

Most people were lying in their beds.

Some were in a coma, with various instruments indicating their unstable vital signs.

Others had leg injuries, in casts, suspended high.

Those not in bed were curled up in corners, hiding.

They were afraid of the people they were sharing the room with mutating.

There were cameras in the rooms, allowing Zero to monitor the situation in real-time. If anything abnormal was detected, Zero would raise an alarm immediately.

The ward doors were not locked and could be opened from the inside.

This was to allow the occupants to escape quickly if someone mutated.

But from what Tu Ran had just observed, very few people could run.

“Ding! Patient in bed three of ward 403 has a rapidly decreasing heart rate, down to 43 beats per minute! Patient in bed three of ward 403 has a rapidly decreasing heart rate, down to 43 beats per minute! Immediate medical attention required!”

Zero’s voice suddenly rang out.
