Julion went to the Garnet Palace for work again today.
Freck and Pailson were unhappy as they had to carry a lot of things, but there was no other choice.
The prince’s office in the crown prince’s palace had no sofa, table, or desk.
‘Why did he have to break everything.’
Almost every day, a piece of furniture in Garnet Palace was broken. Each time, Julion ordered to replace it with something sturdier, claiming the current ones were not robust enough. Naturally, they had to move the items from the prince’s office to the Crown Princess’s Palace since immediate replacements were unavailable.
“I greet His Highness, the Crown Prince.”
Now that Julion’s morning visits to Garnet Palace had become routine, the maids welcomed Julion and his entourage without any discomfort.
“Where is Rohiriel?”
“Her Highness is still in her bedroom.”
Zenid’s answer stopped Julion in his tracks as he headed for his office.
Rohiriel was a diligent person. She would usually be found in her office or the pharmacy early in the morning. She rarely stayed in her bedroom, except when she was unwell. With a poker face concealing his concern, Julion inquired,
“Is she not feeling well today?”
“…she only mentioned being a bit tired.”
Zenid also didn’t know the details.
Although signs of fatigue were apparent, it wasn’t as if Rohiriel looked terribly unwell.
Keeping his concerns concealed behind an impassive expression, Julion turned away and headed towards Rohiriel’s bedroom.
Freck and Pailson, who followed with a bundle of documents, urgently called out.
“Your Highness! What about these documents?”
“Go to the office first. I’ll be there shortly.”
“But there’s a mountain of work, Your Highness!”
Despite Pailson’s attempt to hold onto Julion, Julion had already walked away.
Left behind, Freck and Pailson exchanged glances, exhaling sighs simultaneously. Since moving the office to Garnet Palace, there has been nothing but piled-up work—a recurring thought shared by both.
Meanwhile, Julion, who had gone to the bedroom to check on Rohiriel, stood in the doorway with a frown on his face.
‘The smell of blood…’
It was the same smell as last time. He could hear Hemion’s urgent voice, and a faint scent of blood wafted out from inside.
When Julion opened the door in surprise, he found Rohiriel on the floor, vomiting blood.
Thinking back to the shock he experienced at that time, a lingering discomfort resided in the corner of his chest.
When did he start harboring feelings for Rohiriel? After realizing his emotions once, they had grown uncontrollably, overwhelming him.
He broke the sofa when he heard that Rohiriel had conducted in-depth research on Roxis.
Although he knew that it was not for any other reason than to know his enemy, he couldn’t control his emotions.
Of course, breaking other things afterwards was intentional.
He had been wondering how to stay close to Rohiriel, and this was a good excuse.
“Phew…”
Julion expelled the recurring thoughts, trying to regain composure.
He didn’t want to be shocked by Rohiriel’s condition when he opened the door and went in.
It was something she wanted to hide therefore, Julion made every effort not to show any signs of surprise or shock as he entered the room.
Even now, Julion felt like bursting in, but he waited in case Rohiriel might dislike it.
After composing himself a bit, Julion took another deep breath and knocked on the door.
“I’m coming in, Rohiriel.”
Then, bustling sounds came from inside.
“Just a moment─!”
His suspicions were confirmed. Something bad must have happened—she must have vomited blood or something.
While contemplating whether he should continue waiting, the door opened slowly.
“Greetings, Crown Prince Julion.”
Hemion bowed her head as she greeted. Inside, Rohiriel was sitting on the bed, smiling.
“Come on in, Julion. But why did you come here instead of going to the office?”
Her curious blue eyes widened with a questioning glint.
Even though his thoughts were still a bit scattered, Julion approached Rohiriel and gently placed a hand on her forehead.
“Do you have a fever?”
“What? No, no, I’m fine.”
“Is there anything hurting…?”
“I’m perfectly fine, but what about you?”
Rohiriel blinked her sparkling blue eyes.
‘I don’t know who’s worried about who.’
Julion clicked his tongue inwardly and pushed Rohiriel back onto the bed.
“I should get back to work now.”
She just vomited blood, and now she’s talking about work. What kind of work is she referring to?
Julion forcibly suppressed the urge to blurt out the words ready to burst out of his mouth.
Instead, he smiled gently and brought up a different topic.
“I have some important business to attend to today. I think I’ll need to borrow your office for a while.”
“Yeah, well…… it’s refreshing to see you working in my office these days.”
“It’s a matter that requires confidentiality… and I’m afraid you’ll have to stay here for a while.”
Knowing that just telling her to rest wouldn’t work with Rohiriel, Julion used a different tactic.
This way, she would most likely give an answer like, “Okay, I understand.”
“Well, that won’t do. Oh, feel free to use the office. I was planning to go to Golden Garden anyway.”
Julion’s expression became sharp at Rohiriel’s seemingly casual remark about going back to work.
“When will the restoration work in Golden Garden be finished?”
“Oh. Why the sudden question? It should be over soon.”
“Isn’t that making you busier? You should rest instead of working.”
“Is that a big deal? We’re working on developing the Emperor’s treatment medicine.”
At the mention of the Emperor’s treatment medicine, Julion fell silent.
Julion’s expression became sharp at Rohiriel’s seemingly casual remark about going back to work. He couldn’t help but feel angry. Rohiriel was too yielding. Like a soft peach, she would willingly expose herself to any attack without resistance.
Looking at Rohiriel, whose eyes were filled with question marks, Julion averted his gaze.
It was then.
A small tapping sound came from the window.
Reflexively turning her head, she saw a familiar face leaning against the window, peering towards them.
“Sir Ares!”
Rohiriel greeted him first and opened the window.
Ares, who quickly entered, greeted with lively enthusiasm.
“Greetings to both of you! Ares Wolfgang, reporting in. I have completed my mission and just returned!”

“Kali.”
“Yes, Master.”
In response to the low-pitched voice, Kali straightened his back, feeling tense.
His master, Roxis, had been as furious as a raging bull lately, and the slightest disturbance of his mood could send the manor into chaos.
Glancing at the report that Kali had provided, Roxis asked sharply.
“Is this true?”
Not sure if it was an investigative question or a genuine request for an answer, Kali gauged the situation.
Roxis then forcefully threw a thick book that had been on the desk.
With a thud, the book hit Kali’s forehead, landing on the floor.
Roxis asked again.
“I’m asking if this is true, Kali. Is your mouth just for decoration?”
The words were spat out with a lion’s snarl, and Kali answered quickly.
“It’s true, Master. I’ve confirmed it.”
“……I see.”
Roxis lowered his gaze back to the report.
The content revealed that Yeffa, whom he had been searching for, entered Liliana’s territory.
It would have been nearly impossible for her to get out of Leboam Valley through all those sieges alone. Yet she managed to surpass countless barriers and reach Liliana’s territory.
“So, it comes to this.”
The boundaries of their respective missions were inviolable.
It was an unspoken rule, and no one had ever broken it before.
Until now.
However, Liliana was the first to break it.
‘The probability of the imperial family sending Yeffa to Liliana is zero.’
Liliana deliberately stole Yeffa from the very beginning.
How she managed to take Yeffa away without attracting the attention of her subordinates was uncertain, but undoubtedly, she, like him, had planted a spy in the palace.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have known the details of Yeffa’s transfer.
“Since she put up a fight first, I suppose I should accept…”
Muttering, Roxis’s silver eyes became cold.
