Dad Kidnapped the Obsessive Maniac

Episode 40

‘Make a mess of me.’

Even now, with Yurian’s trembling voice vivid in her ears, Yvonne strangely felt her ears burning. Despite managing to put on her clothes and come out, she still felt completely disoriented.

“Yvonne.”

“Ah…!”

She was startled by the voice calling her, causing her legs to lose strength. Being inherently frail, just being startled was enough to make her legs give out.

“Yvonne?”

“Ugh… Dad…?”

Yvonne tried to run to Hildebrandt but her legs gave out, causing her to fall. Then, oddly enough, he was coming over to help her up. Usually, he would have mocked her.

Hildebrandt hurriedly approached her, looking flustered, and helped her up. Yvonne thought she should act and looked at him, but for some reason, Hildebrandt’s voice seemed to echo in her ears, making her feel strange.

“My daughter. Why is your face so red?”

“Ah… that…”

Strangely, she couldn’t speak well. Whether it was embarrassment or shame, the emotions that had fled once continued to replay in her mind, making her even more flustered.

“Oh, please hug me!”

“Huh?”

Feeling unable to continue speaking, she hugged Hildebrandt, who was trying to help her up. He had no intention of hugging her back. But he let her hug him as she pleased.

He hesitated to push her away and make her fall to the ground, but somehow, he didn’t want to do that because of the pounding sound of her heart.

“Um, Dad, you’re the best in the world…”

Her voice was more intense than usual, and her heart was beating loudly. And her neck, ears, and face were strangely flushed. Even her breathing seemed strange.

Hildebrandt looked out the window in the hallway and saw the rain falling steadily.

“Move aside.”

“N-No…”

Yvonne hugged him tighter, feeling like she shouldn’t reveal her face. Hildebrandt felt disgusted by her words, which sounded different from what he knew, especially considering the rain, but her body’s response was too honest.

“Let go.”

“N-No, please…”

He had seen Yvonne flustered many times before, but he had never seen her trembling in fear like this. So, despite his disgusted words, he didn’t push her away.

“Dad.”

“Yeah.”

After calling him, Yvonne stubbornly continued to hold him until she calmed down completely. Nevertheless, Hildebrandt didn’t hug her until the end.

“I love you the most in the world, Dad. I really mean it.”

“Yeah. Now, move.”

“Yes…”

As Yvonne managed to calm down and let go, Hildebrandt wanted to see her eyes. Her eyes, looking up at him, were still a deep purple like violet flowers. Her eyelashes were red and wet, and her face still flushed.

“Pathetic.”

“I’m sorry.”

“I’m really annoyed.”

“I’ll do better.”

Hildebrandt pushed Yvonne’s shoulders away from him, but still seemed to wait for her to come closer again.

Quick-witted Yvonne saw where Hildebrandt’s gaze was directed, so she approached him.

“Even if Dad keeps pushing me away, I’ll keep coming closer.”

Upon hearing her words, Hildebrandt let out a small sigh and said, “Let’s go to your room.”

“Yes.”

She naturally linked her arm with Hildebrandt’s as he led the way. When he let go, she tried to hold his hand, but he pushed her away. However, she grabbed the sleeve of his shirt.

Relieved by her actions, Hildebrandt allowed her to reach out for his hand and hold his little finger.

Entering Yvonne’s room, Hildebrandt glanced around the room curiously. He had almost memorized everything inside, perhaps due to his wolf memories.

After briefly observing all the items Yvonne had cherished, he sat on the sofa. Instead of sitting next to him, Yvonne sat on the floor. Then, she smiled as she placed her head on his thigh, as she used to do.

Yvonne had completely regained her composure in the face of his cold attitude.

“My daughter.”

“Yes.”

“Why are your lips so red?”

“What?”

Hildebrandt brushed her lips with his thumb, following the faint pink marks on the corners of her mouth.

“Ah, it must be from getting on your clothes.”

Upon her explanation, Hildebrandt glanced at his clothes. As she said, there was light makeup smudged on them, causing him to consciously frown.

“You made it dirty.”

“I’m sorry.”

Yvonne’s straightforward apology, despite her defensive tone, pleased him somewhat. He withdrew the hand that had been touching her lips and pressed it into his mouth. Yvonne had to keep her tongue away from his fingers pressing firmly against her teeth.

“And your voice annoys me.”

“…”

“You look ugly with your mouth open.”

He was using his ability on himself. By telling her she looked ugly, he was hypnotizing himself.

However, Yvonne found it strange that despite his display of anger, he wasn’t using his ability on her.

“I don’t like anything about you.”

After saying so, Hildebrandt removed his hand from her mouth. Nevertheless, Yvonne casually smiled and leaned her head against his thigh.

“I’ll try to be a daughter you like.”

He began to doubt his ability. It was undoubtedly top-tier, but he felt as though the hypnosis he had placed on himself had weakened just now.

“Be quiet. You made me forget why I came here.”

“Oh…”

Seeing Yvonne’s momentarily startled expression, Hildebrandt realized his ability had become completely useless. He had been worrying about her.

“Move aside!”

“Dad?”

As Hildebrandt stood up, she recoiled in surprise and moved her head. Then, he wrapped his arms around her face, looking at her with a pale, nauseated expression.

“Yvonne.”

“Yes?”

“Did you awaken as a nullifier?”

“No. I… haven’t awakened yet.”

“Tell the truth.”

He hypnotized Yvonne and looked into her eyes.

“Did you awaken?”

“No.”

“Then why isn’t my ability working?”

It’s not working.

Then, she’ll be manipulated by her own will again.

Like before, again.

Then, Yvonne will abandon me again.

Suddenly, Hildebrandt felt suffocated and blinked, forgetting to breathe as he stared at her.

“I don’t know either.”

Yvonne stared blankly at Hildebrandt, but when their eyes met, she smiled.

“Dad’s eyes are really beautiful. They’re so mesmerizing like glaciers. Your hair is beautiful like snow too.”

He hesitated and stepped back. Unconsciously, he withdrew his power and broke into a cold sweat.

“Dad, why did you come to see me today?”

Yvonne, now composed, asked him as if she didn’t recall what just happened. Hildebrandt glared at her as if he wanted to kill her, his face full of anger. She tensed at the intensity in his lively eyes but casually smiled.

“Do you want to know?”

“No. It seems like the longer I don’t know, the longer you’ll stay.”

“Hmm.”

He concluded that her words pleased him and that there was definitely something wrong with his ability.

“Francis.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

“Kill yourself.”

“Yes.”

“Dad!”

Hildebrandt used his power to command Francis. Francis casually drew his sword and aimed it at his own heart. Then, to plunge it in, he extended both arms holding the sword.

“Stop.”

“Ah…!”

Yvonne was genuinely shocked to see Francis almost die before her eyes, causing her heart to sink as she slumped in her seat.

“Ugh!”

Hildebrandt realized that his ability was still intact. But why wasn’t it working on her?

Seeing Yvonne trembling in her seat, the Emperor, startled, looked at her. She seemed terrified but kept her eyes on him, as if she knew he would pounce if she looked away, like she knew it well from a beast.

Hildebrandt found his calm when he saw her amethyst-like eyes fixed on him.

“Dad.”

“Listen to my heartbeat.”

“Yes.”

As Yvonne reached out her arm, the Emperor, seeming confused, focused his gaze on her while leaning against her shoulder.

Yvonne, with her arm tightly around his head, still trembling with fear, looked up at Francis. Then she gestured to him as if to tell him to turn around.

Francis, trying to suppress some inexplicable unease, turned around as she commanded.

“Yvonne.”

“Yes.”

“Yvonne.”

“Yes, Dad.”

“Not Dad.”

Hildebrandt’s voice trembled subtly. Somehow, whenever Yvonne’s flesh touched me, my power seemed to calm strangely, and the tension seemed to dissipate as she relaxed.

“Call me by name, Yvonne.”

In a pleading tone, Yvonne hugged him tighter and said, “Yes, Hildebrandt.”
