“Child, there are things in this world that you can’t love.” With just that one word, she turned away, pretending not to notice the firm gaze in front of her.

I wish the author wrote a better description for the novel because it’s quite cutesy and I feel like it doesn’t reflect how complex and heavy the story is 😭 What stands out about this novel is how we don’t know everything about Helia and Caligo from the start, so you end really anticipating the slow unravelling of the mysteries it hides. The author also takes the time to carefully justify Caligo’s distaste for Helia so that we’re not left feeling like he hates her for no goddamn reason the way so many other regretful MLs do lol. The perspectives are well-balanced and both leads are easy to sympathise with.
