BW Chapter 135

Shuangjing (10)

Waves crashed against the reef, white foam disappearing in an instant as the salty sea breeze lifted the vermilion robe.

Ning Xiu sat on a large round rock, staring blankly at the endless expanse of blue water before him.

So much water~

Was Father in the water?

Or was he on the other side of the water?

Where was this place~

“Father~ Mother~” Ning Xiu slid down from the rock, his little feet landing on the soft sand. He walked toward the water while softly mumbling, “Xiao Shan~ misses Father~ misses Mother~”

“Where are you~”

Where was Father~

He wanted to drink some warm porridge~

The little one in the vermilion robe walked to the water’s edge, leaving footprints with each step. The cold seawater that washed onto the beach covered his feet.

“Ah~” Ning Xiu stepped back twice, his small face scrunching up like a bun. “Cold~”

So cold~

He thought for a moment, then forced out a bit of spiritual power, wrapping it around his little feet. He cautiously took another step forward as the seawater washed up again.

Not cold anymore~

Ning Xiu happily splashed in the water for quite a while before remembering that he needed to find his father. His little face turned red with effort as golden spiritual power enveloped his entire body.

“Da!” Ning Xiu proudly stuck out his chest and patted his round little belly.

I’m going to fly now!

Ning Xiu stood for a long while, then blinked slowly. “Why..can’t fly?”

Father and Mother could fly, his big brothers and sisters could too, even Little Black could fly, but he couldn’t~

“Little Black~” Ning Xiu went into his little room and tugged on the small black dragon’s tail.

The small black dragon, who had been lazily sleeping, opened its eyes and flicked its tail, pulling Ning Xiu’s tiny spiritual consciousness into its stomach. “Ying?”

What are you doing? Disturbing a dragon’s sleep.

“Fly~ want to fly~” Ning Xiu flapped his little arms and grabbed its dragon horns. “No~ sleep~”

I want to fly~ Don’t sleep anymore~

The little black dragon yawned. “Ying~”

It’s very troublesome for you to learn to fly. You’ll need to grow as tall as Cui Yuanbai before you can fly… right?

Ning Xiu patted its nose. “Find Father~ now~ fly~”

I want to find Father~ I want to learn to fly now~ Teach me~

The little black dragon used its short claws to extract its whiskers from Ning Xiu’s small hands. “Ying~”

Alright then, wait for me, I’ll come find you~ I’ll take you flying~

On the other side of the island, the little black dragon that had been sleeping in Feng Zizhang’s sleeve quietly slipped out.

“Little Black! Where are you going?” Jiang Yizheng, who had been daydreaming during class, asked quietly.

The little black dragon flicked its tail and disappeared through the doorway.

“Little Black, don’t run around——” Jiang Yizheng called out in a hushed voice.

“Jiang Yizheng!” The head teacher’s powerful voice sounded above her head. “Do you know how many times you’ve been distracted during class?”

A low wave of laughter rippled through the room.

Jiang Yizheng bit her lip and turned to look at Feng Zizhang, only to find that he was absent-minded and hadn’t noticed anything about Little Black or her.

“Go stand outside!” The head teacher’s exasperated voice made Jiang Yizheng jump.

An incense stick’s time later, the little black dragon flew to the beach where Ning Xiu was.

Ning Xiu was squatting on the ground picking up shells, stuffing the pretty ones into his little bell, having a wonderful time by himself.

The little black dragon blinked, quietly circled behind him, stood up straight and pushed him hard.

“Ah ya~” Ning Xiu was startled and fell flat on the beach, dropping the shells in his hand.

“Ying~” The little black dragon used its tail to pick him up and set him down properly.

It’s me~ you scaredy-cat~

Ning Xiu picked up the shells from the ground and said softly, “Little Black~ gentle~”

“Ying!” The little black dragon flicked its tail indignantly.

I flew here! Super fast!

Ning Xiu stuffed the shell in his hand into its dragon claw. “Help~ fly~ find Father~”

The little black dragon’s whiskers twitched. “Ying~ Ying Ying?”

Climb on, I’ll take you flying~ Where’s Father?

“Don’t know~” Ning Xiu struggled with his short legs to climb onto the dragon’s back. Little Black pushed him forward with its tail, letting him grab onto its horns.

“Ying~” Little Black excitedly swished its tail.

No problem! We can look everywhere! I’m a big dragon now! I can definitely protect you!

Ning Xiu nodded in complete agreement.

The little black dragon carried the small child straight up to the clouds.

“Xiao Shan!” Headteacher Song, arriving at the beach with others, caught sight of this and cried out in dismay.

“I told you it wasn’t my fault!” Xie Chang’an pointed at the black dragon in the sky. “Look, it was clearly this dragon that took——a dragon!??”

“There are still living dragons in the Seventeen States!?” A younger headteacher exclaimed in amazement.

“Stop gawking! Hurry after them!” Headteacher Song summoned a flying sword and jumped onto it.

The others followed closely behind.

Xie Chang’an silently closed his mouth, hesitating for a moment between the excitement of seeing a dragon and taking the opportunity to leave, before summoning his own flying sword and jumping on it.

No joke, that was a dragon!

Ning Xiu lay on the dragon’s back, nearly blown off by the fierce wind. He patted Little Black’s horn in dissatisfaction. “Ah~ slow slow~”

Slow down a bit~

Little Black proudly flicked its tail and slowed down. “Ying?”

Aren’t I amazing?

“Amazing!” Ning Xiu’s little face was wet from the clouds, his eyes shining. “Fly high high~”

As the dragon slowed down, Headteacher Song and his group finally caught up. He cautiously and vigilantly said, “This….senior, that child on your back is from our Wanxuan Academy. Please put him down.”

The little black dragon swished its tail, sending a large cloud of mist their way. “Ying?”

Xiao Shan, do you want to go back with them?

“Ah Song~” Ning Xiu waved to him happily, but hearing Little Black’s question, he shook his head. “Find~ Father~”

I can’t go back, I need to find Father~

Headteacher Song was wary of the black dragon but afraid of hurting Ning Xiu and dared not attack. He turned to ask those behind him, “Have you contacted Dean Hao?”

“Dean Hao is on his way!” The person behind him paused. “Xie Chang’an! What are you doing up here!?”

“Weren’t you the ones who told me to follow?” Xie Chang’an looked innocent.

“Get down! Don’t cause trouble!” Headteacher Song shouted.

Xie Chang’an rolled his eyes, spotted Ning Xiu lying on the dragon’s back, and flew his sword toward him. “Cui Shan! I’m coming to save you!”

Before anyone could react, he lunged forward and grabbed Ning Xiu. Ning Xiu held onto the dragon’s horn, unwilling to let go. Little Black felt the pain and wrapped its tail around Xie Chang’an. The three of them spun twice in mid-air, falling straight toward the sea.

Just as they were about to crash into the sea, two streams of spiritual power from opposite directions supported them simultaneously.

The headteachers who hadn’t had time to act breathed sighs of relief.

Ning Xiu looked at the sea surface very close to him, reached out to touch the water with his finger, and put it in his mouth to taste, then spat it out. “Aiya~”

So salty~

“Dean!” Headteacher Song spotted Hao Zheng and immediately felt relieved.

However, Hao Zheng’s expression was not relaxed. He looked at the person hovering over the sea surface opposite him, maintaining his spiritual power without reducing it. “Wang Bin, you’ve finally appeared.”

The powerful spiritual power opposing Hao Zheng maintained a delicate balance. Xie Chang’an, Ning Xiu, and the little black dragon were entangled by the two forces, barely able to move.

“Of course I had to appear.” Wang Bin said unhurriedly, “After the battle at Dao Discussion Mountain, my Wang family has been restricted everywhere by the Chongzheng Alliance and your Wanxuan Academy. I’ve come to seek justice for my Wang family.”

“Reversing black and white!” Hao Zheng said coldly, “If your Wang family hadn’t aided that villain Ning Fan, the Seventeen States wouldn’t have lost so many young cultivators.”

Wang Bin smiled. “Dean Hao, you’re missing the whole picture.”

Hao Zheng tightened his spiritual power. “These two are children from my Wanxuan Academy. Why would an elder like you have a grudge against two young ones?”

Wang Bin smiled. “Young ones? I think not. This is the Linglong Bone that Ning Buwei took from the Chongzheng Alliance. It’s not unreasonable for me to retrieve it for the Chongzheng Alliance, is it?”

The faces of the headteachers behind Hao Zheng changed.

“Linglong Bone?” A young sect leader frowned.

“We can’t let Ning Xiu fall into Wang Bin’s hands.” Headteacher Song transmitted lowly, “If he’s taken away, there will be no chance of survival. Shangguan, go notify Dean Shang and several elders to help….we’ll find a chance to rescue Ning Xiu and Xie Chang’an.”

“Yes.”

While Hao Zheng was battling with Wang Bin, two headteachers silently retreated behind the reef and turned to run.

However, they hadn’t gone two steps before they were forced to stop.

Over a hundred cultivators from the Chongzheng Alliance had appeared out of nowhere, led by Shen Xi, the chief disciple of Wushi Sect.

Shen Xi cupped her hands in greeting to them. “Two fellow cultivators, forgive me.”

Clearly Hao Zheng had also noticed the situation here. His expression grew solemn as he said gravely, “Shen Xi, what is the meaning of this? Are you in league with Wang Bin?”

“Dean Hao.” Shen Xi bowed properly as a disciple should. “This student is not in league with Wang Bin. The grudge from Dao Discussion Mountain is irreconcilable; how could we conspire with Wang Bin?

However, our Chongzheng Alliance also needs the Linglong Bone. I promise you that we will not harm the child’s life. The repair of the Seventeen States Formation is urgent. I hope the Dean can prioritize the greater good.”

Hanging over the sea, Xie Chang’an couldn’t hear what they were saying, but his eyes were sharp. He waved vigorously toward the Chongzheng Alliance. “Little Uncle! Big Aunt! Come save us!”

In the crowd, Xie Jiangnan and Xie Wenshi’s expressions changed dramatically. The two ran to the edge of the sea, and Xie Jiangnan asked irritably, “Xie Chang’an! How did you get mixed up in this!?”

“Little Uncle, I came to help!” Xie Chang’an hugged Ning Xiu tightly. “Fighting evil and helping the weak! Upholding justice! I’ll join the Chongzheng Alliance sooner or later!”

“Foolishness!” Xie Wenshi frowned, giving him a cold look.

Xie Chang’an had always been a little afraid of his big aunt and didn’t dare to shout anymore.

He lowered his head and whispered to the small child in his arms. “Look at what a huge sacrifice I’m making for you. Doesn’t that deserve at least one Jade Spirit Pill as a reward?”

“Yi~ pill pill~ ah~” Ning Xiu yawned, feeling uncomfortable being held so tightly, and squirmed hard.

So sleepy~

The spiritual power that Hao Zheng and Wang Bin were using to maintain balance lost equilibrium for a moment because of his squirming.

Almost at the same instant, Hao Zheng and Wang Bin both rushed toward Ning Xiu and Xie Chang’an who were suspended over the sea.
