To my child 1

Side story 8 : To my child 1

One month later.., two months later…,three months later….

As the seasons changed, Launa’s body gradually became heavier. The empress’s work, which she had done before somehow, became more difficult for her to do, so she toke a break.

After teaching a few recipes to the imperial palace chef, Luana began to rest in earnest.

She sat on a soft rug in front of a warm stove, looked at a cookbook, and occasionally put small snacks in her mouth. When she got tired of reading, she would get up and stroll around the garden.

While spending time like that, Legion stopped by to check on Luana.

“Be careful.”

“I’m being careful.”

Luana shrugged and walked carefully. A lot had changed after her pregnancy. Her body changed, her mood changed, and her surroundings changed. Still, she could still bear with it because she had  Legion, the nanny who since  knowing about her pregnancy, had been taking care of her, and Sarah, who came to visit from time to time and was giving her everything that was good for pregnancy.

Just like that, winter was slowly coming to an end.

Finally, one warm spring day.

“Aaaah!”

The loud cries of a child came from Empress Luana’s room. The child she had been carrying for ten months had finally seen the light.

“A princess was born!”

The child born between them became the first princess. Legion, who was looking at the princess’s wrinkled pink face with an expression of admiration, soon turned his gaze towards Luana.

“Is she feeling okay?”

The midwife, who had been summoned under Legion orders, confidently answered.

“Oh, she is totally fine. I have never seen anyone healthier than the Empress. The baby also came out very quickly. If she rests well for a while, she will soon be as energetic as before. Besides, the princess looks strong, so don’t worry.”

This time, Legion’s gaze turned to the doctor. After the doctor repeated what the midwife said, he gently held Luana’s hand with a relieved expression. The calloused hands were colder than usual and wet with sweat, showing how anxious Legion had been.

Realizing that, Luana unconsciously raised the corners of her mouth even though she was exhausted. She thought that this is why she had no choice but to continue loving this person. Because he care for her and love her so much.

“Good job.”

A low voice reached her ear.

“What are you praising me for? More than that, I want to see the child’s face.”

Her voice came out rough because she had been shouting with all her strength the whole time, but Luana didn’t care. Hearing what she said, the midwife quickly came closer to her and showed her the child. Because she was still a newborn baby, her skin was still wrinkled, but in Luana’s eyes, she looked extremely cute.

“Reina.”

Luana laughed, calling the child’s name. Until a few days ago, she and Legion had been thinking about the name of their soon-to-be-born child. But now, as she was holding her child like this, her heart swelled.

“Aaada!”

The child opened and closed his round mouth and made a small sound. Although it was cute, it also felt ticklish, making her want to stick her  finger in its mouth. Of course, she didn’t actually do it. The child was just born, and Luana was very tired.

‘I’m still happy.’

However, neither Luana nor Legion knew yet, the difficulties of  being parents that will soon come.

“Aaaah!”

The child’s loud cry echoed throughout the room. The nanny, surprised by the sound, quickly hugged the child, but the child only stretched out her arms and legs and continued to cry. The nanny, who had been pacing around the room nervously, started crying along with her.

At that moment, Luana hurriedly entered.

“Reina!”

After taking care of the child all morning, she barely managed to put her to sleep, but she seemed to have bursted into tears again because she was not in his mother’s arms. The child who had been so gentle while in her womb was gone.

She couldn’t fall asleep unless she was hugged. Originally that would have been no problem since the maids andnthe nanny were on standby, but the child was picky about people. If she wasn’t in her mom’s or dad’s arms, it wouldn’t be long before she started crying.

At first, Launa tried to fix it somehow, but the child was very stubborn. After a persistent battle, the losers had no choice but to be the parent who was always worried about their child.

However, Luana was the Empress and Legion was the Emperor. They were always busy. In that situation, she couldn’t help but feel haggard as she somehow managed to find time to take care of her child.

‘Still, Legion takes care of her more.’

Thanks to that, Luana was barely able to survive.

“Hey, Raina. It’s mom. Let’s stop crying now.”

She held her in her arms and patted her back a few times, and only then did she stop crying and smile brightly. Raina was a child who cried easily and laughed easily.

“Kyaaa!”

Reina laughed excitedly and slapped Luana’s cheek with her hand. The hand that touched her was soft and light. So, instead of feeling bad, Launa felt energized. Luana smiled, rubbing her face in her small hands. Just then, Legion entered the room.

“You came first.”

Legion grinned , came closer and took Reina away. Then, naturally, he hugged her and began to comfort her.

“Isn’t it time for the meeting soon?”

“There isn’t much time left left.”

“Then give me Raina. I will be taking care of her. I have some time.”

“If you have time, get some sleep. Your complexion is not good.”

She really appreciated those words, but she couldn’t do that knowing that he had to attend a meeting soon, Luana shook her head.

“But you have a meeting, right?”

“It’s just a meeting, you need to get some rest.”

‘Is it really okay?’

Luana hesitated for a moment and then raised both hands in defeat. She decided to accept Legion’s favor.

“Then I’ll sleep for a while.”

“Sleep well.”

“yes yes. Thank you, Legion.”

Luana stood on her tiptoes and kissed Legion on the cheek. Those who were initially taken aback by the love affair between the emperor and empress now got used to it and showed no particular reaction. After the kiss, Luana went straight into the next room and layed down on the bed.

In fact, Reina should have stayed in another room a little further away, but she cried so much that the room right next to the couple’s room was turned into the child’s room. So, as soon as she opened the next room’s door, she was immediately in the couple’s bedroom.

Luana took off her dress and layed down on the bed in her underwear. She couldn’t even find the strength to change into pajamas. She said that Reina was a very gentle child when she was pregnant with her, but why was she born so picky?

Suddenly, she remembered something a friend who raised a child in her past life said.

‘It seems like the child has sensors on his back. When his back touches the blanket, he cries.’

*TL:my little brother does this all the time, his sensors are so sensitive.

At that time, she just thought it was a joke and laughed it off, but she never thought it was the truth. Luana sighed softly.

How long had it been since then? A small snoring sound began to be heard from her as she curled up.

After confirming that Luana went to sleep, Legion walked around the room while carefully holding Reina in his arms, but as soon as the meeting time arrived, small voices began to be heard outside the door.

“Your Majesty, it is time.”

“Okay, start reporting.”

As soon as the Legion spoke, a report on the pre-determined agenda followed. The sound was not loud due to the thickness of the door, but Legion was able to understand everything clearly. This was because as he learned and practiced swordsmanship, he was able to control his five senses whenever he wanted. He made sure to send the maid who had been waiting in the room out in advance, knowing that he will be hearing the reports here. He ordered the maids to be thoroughly picked, but they were still not trustworthy.

It was an odd sight to do the meeting at the door, but none of the subjects expressed any dissatisfaction.

Because they knew that the only time Legion changed his decisions was when the Empress was by his side. Afraid of the consequences of questioning the Emperor’s orders, they continued to report as the emperor told me to do.

After finishing the difficult meeting, they quickly retreated, and in the meantime, Raina fell asleep again. As long as she was in the arms of her mom and dad, she was a child who slept well even though it was a bit noisy.

‘She’s really cute when you look at her like this.’

Legion raised the corners of his mouth as he looked at Rayna, who was fast asleep. She was an angel when she was sleeping. Of course, if he put her down in this state, she will start pouting and crying again. Still, according to the midwife and doctor, she would be somewhat better after 100 days. If they were unlucky, it might take a bit longer.

He decided to stay until Raina could sleep more deeply. That way, Luana will be able to rest more comfortably. Was it because he became a parent? He suddenly thought that he knew the feelings of his parents.

One hundred days later, Reina fell asleep for the first time in a bed instead of her parents’ arms.

They felt touched and happy when they first put Raina down and she didn’t cry. Luana even had tears in her eyes as she thought that her child had grown up. They knew that there was a long way to go, but that was enough to make the two of them laugh.

The nanny and maids, who had been anxious all this time, finally smiled again. Since the Empress and Emperor took care of the Princess directly, there was less work for them to do, but it was still inconvenient. But now that the situation changed, they couldn’t help but be happy, so there were a lot of people who shared that joy.

There were also nobles who always had a hard time holding meetings with Emperor because of the baby. These nobles also cheered as they saw the emperor properly participating in a meeting for the first time in a long while. How difficult it was to talk carefully at the closed door! They took their seats, appreciating the meeting normality. It was very nice to have a meeting that was conducted properly and face to face.
