The child of a witch is a witch

Side story 7: A witch’s child is a witch

“what?”

“I’m pregnant.”

“pregnant!”

Luana and Legion’s eyes met. Then, Legion came closer and carefully held Luana’s hand.

“Luana.”

“No, wait a minute! If I am pregnant, shouldn’t I be throwing up and hating the smell of food?”

“Symptoms are different for each person. Some people refuse food, while others eat more than usual. And I can assure you that you are pregnant.”

Luana unconsciously placed her hand on her stomach.

‘Am I really pregnant?’

Although it was sudden news, it was not unconvincing. Because she had spent countless nights with Legion.

“It is best to be cautious in the beginning. Because it is an unstable time, your baby may be at risk. If possible, avoid going out and get plenty of rest.”

“Did you hear what the doctor said?”

Legion helped the doctor while he was giving instructions.

The witches’ party came to her mind belatedly. She wanted to see it at least once, but it seemed like it wasn’t meant to be. Although that fact was somewhat disappointing, for the sake of the baby, it was better to follow the doctor’s words, so Luana decided not to complain.

After learning of her pregnancy, Legion showered Luana with care even more. And Sarah, who came by once again for work, congratulated her on her pregnancy.

“Wow, really!! Congratulations!”

She was so surprised that she seemed to have forgotten using the honorifics in front of Legion.

Sarah, who was expressing her surprise, suddenly disappeared as if she remembered something, and only appeared with Gallard after a long time. As Legion frowned at that, Luana shook her head. This was because she knew that Gallard was no longer the same as he had been when she run away for a while before getting married.

“Luana!”

Gallard immediately approached Luana. After hesitating for a while with an expression of not knowing what to say, he opened the bag he was carrying on his shoulder. Then he started taking out various bottles one after another.

“this is a good herb for pregnancy…….”

Gallard told Launa about all their uses, then closed his mouth again. Sarah, who was looking at him with smiling eyes, spoke in a whisper.

“When I told him the news of your pregnancy, he was dazed for a while then picked up all these bottles. I guess Gallard was happy too!”

Was all of that because he was happy? Luana smiled awkwardly at those words. Next to her, Legion was glaring at Sarah, who was still speaking informally, but she didn’t seem to notice. Meanwhile, Gallard came closer and whispered in Luana’s ear.

“Remember your relationship with Elanya.”

After that, he moved his body away from her with a nonchalant expression and took the bottles sequentially, explaining the effects of the medicine and how to take it.

“This is to be eaten after meal. You can drink this amount when having morning sickness.”

Luana listened to Gallard’s explanation through one ear and let it out from the other.

She pondered about what he said. What is her relationship with Elanya? Isn’t that just a mother and daughter? The moment she thought that, something suddenly occurred to her.

‘A witch’s child is a witch.’

Witches have a high probability of giving birth to female children, and the children will always have the ability of a witch. It seemed that in very rare cases, a child like Gallard was born. When Luana realized that fact, her expression almost distorted. Did Legion even know this? The gender of the child didn’t matter, she knew that, but there is some thing that still bothered her.

‘No, he should know. He knows my mother is a witch, but….’

The child born to a witch will always be a witch.

‘Will it be okay?’

It seemed like this was what Gallard wanted to tell us. Otherwise, there’s no way he would say something like that. Anxiety slowly emerged from deep within. Unable to manage her emotions, Luana reached out and grabbed the hem of Legion’s clothes.

Legion’s turned around without much thought and when he saw her expression, his face became serious.

“What is the matter?”

Luana’s complexion became worse than before. Surprised, he naturally placed his hand on her forehead. But there was no particular fever.

“Doctor! Call the doctor!”

Legion urgently called a doctor, and Sarah grabbed Gallard and disappeared, before Gallard could say anything.

“What are you doing!”

“What are you doing? What did you say to Luana?”

Apparently, Sarah saw Gallard whispering to Luana.

“I didn’t say anything.”

“Then why did her condition suddenly turn that bad?”

When Sarah questioned again, Gallard bit his lip and slowly opened his mouth.

“I’ve just sayed it because I think they forgot something important.”

“What is it?”

“A witch’s child is a witch.”

No matter what race you married, the child born to a witch will be a witch. Unlike other races that disappeared because they couldn’t do that, they still existed in this world.

“The emperor doesn’t know that? Since his family used to hunt witches, they must have a lot of information about witches, right?”

“I don’t know much about him. But looking at Luana’s reaction, he might not know.”

‘That’s unbelievable!’

Sarah couldn’t control her anger and kicked Gallard’s shin. He jumped up in surprise at her uncharacteristic behavior.

“Sarah!”

“If anything goes wrong with Luana, it’s your fault!”

After hearing that, Gallard had a guilty expression on his face. It didn’t seem like it was done with any malicious intent. It seems like he said it out of concern for Luana, but he still crossed the line. It was natural for Sarah to be angry.

At the same time, Luana was being examined by a doctor.

“Fortunately, both the baby and the empress are safe.”

“Are you really okay? Why was your complexion this bad?”

“Yes, it’s okay. I think I was just surprised for a moment.”

Legion’s eyes turned to Luana, who was lying on the bed. Luana was surprised? By what? All he could tell was that It was related to two guests.

“Luana.”

After dismissing the doctor, Legion knelt down next to the bed and held Luana’s hanging hand tightly.

“What happened ?”

At Legion’s question, Luana looked at him with a confused expression. What should she say? Her mind went blank and she couldn’t think of a way to start the conversation.

“Legion, how much do you know about witches?”

Legion responded with a faint smile.

“I know a lot.”

He had a family with a history covered in the blood of witches. To catch witches, they had to know more about them than anyone else, so they collected information like crazy. They refused to sell out their fellow countrymen and did not easily spit out information, but that did not mean he had no harvest at all.

“How much?”

“Why are you curious about that?”

“then.”

Luana licked her dry lips and continued speaking.

“Do you know anything about a witch’s children?”

“I know. You are right in front of me.”

“You know my mother is a witch, right?”

“Yes.”

“The children I give birth to will probably be girls. And they will be born with witch blood. Did you know that too?”

“I was not sure, but I thought so.”

Almost all witches were women, and many of them made love to people. Therefore, it was not difficult to guess that the child born to them in the future would most likely be a girl and a witch. But what’s wrong with that? Legion had already risked everything and vowed to be with Luana for the rest of his life. From now on, there will be no more trouble between them over something like that.

“Is that really okay?”

Legion calmly responded to Luana’s particularly weak-sounding voice.

“Of course it’s okay. It’s a child between the two of us. Neither gender nor witch bloodline are important to me.”

“What if a witch stands at the highest position in the royal family?”

“I have already prepared so much for this.”

The reason why Legion easily joined hands with the witch was not only because of its usefulness. He thought that Luana was a witch and that her child might also be a witch. The two of them would live their lives hiding their abilities, but wouldn’t it be frustrating to continue living like that?

So he wanted to change the world’s perception of witches. The decision was immediately put into action, and by now, the perception of witches has changed significantly. At this rate, he felt like he could change things even more things before he dies.

“Why on earth were you worried about such useless things? Is this how you see me?”

Legion swept up Luana’s disheveled hair and scolded her. Is it because of her mood? Her complexion, which had been white the whole time, seemed to be gradually regaining its color.

“I know, right. I was wrong. There is no way Legion is like that.”

“I think I know now. It was originally said that you become sensitive during pregnancy, so I guess that’s why.”

Then Luana blinked and burst into laughter.

“Now you have to indulge my mood swings.”

“Indulgence for a limited period of time.”

“Why is that?”

Luana, who was giggling, raised her upper body and hugged Legion’s neck.

“I really fell stupid.”

“A little.”

“Why on earth were you worried about that?”

Whatever their gender. It is our child, either a witch or a human. What was she so worried about? This was all Gallard’s fault. Since he said it in such a meaningful manner, she can’t help but be shaken!

Luana scolded Gallard, who is not here.

Afterwards, Luana returned to her bright mood again. And with Legion, she started prenatal education in anticipation of the child who would come to them in the future.

It was their first child, so everything was unfamiliar, but they were able to endure it happily because they were together. Plus, the baby in her stomach seemed very gentle. At least, she didn’t have morning sickness that made her throw up.

Time passed like that.
