Because I was Terminally Ill, I Married the Male Lead's Brother, and Now He's Obsessed with Me

BTILMB | Episode 6

Episode 6

“Lia.”

Seeing her like that, I called her with a firm expression.

“Yes, Miss.”

“I must meet Lord Blighton. So for now, don’t ask anything and just take me there.”

“Understood, Miss.”

After briefly observing my resolute expression, Lia nodded and informed the coachman of our destination.

* * *

“Is it located quite far away?”

The mansions of the major nobles in the capital were mostly concentrated around the palace and the bustling area nearby.

However, Blighton Manor was situated far from the center of the capital, and it took about an hour of riding to reach there.

“I’ll go out and deliver the message that you want to meet Lord Blighton.”

“Sure, thank you.”

Lia, who couldn’t hide her anxious expression throughout the carriage ride, cautiously got up and went outside.

With a slightly restless heart, I waited for Lia, worried that we might encounter some gatekeepers or obstacles.

After a while, with a distressed expression, Lia returned to the carriage.

“I, Miss…”

“What happened?”

“He said he won’t meet you now and asked you to leave.”

“What?”

I expected that he wouldn’t easily meet with me, but I never thought it would turn out like this.

“If he doesn’t meet you, he said you can continue waiting here.”

“Yes? Oh, yes. I understand. Please wait a moment.”

This might be a rare opportunity that might not come again.

That’s why I had to meet Lloydin Blighton today.

Seeing Lia go out of the carriage again, I clenched my hands tightly.

After some time, Lia returned, but this time she wasn’t alone.

I heard a unfamiliar man’s voice from outside the carriage.

“Lady Ayla Anaïs.”

Who could it be?

Could it possibly be Lloydin Blighton?

Though the voice of the young man didn’t sound like Lloydin, I hurriedly stepped out of the carriage, just in case.

Outside, there was an elderly man with graying hair, bowing his head respectfully as he stood there.

“Nice to meet you, Lady Ayla Anaïs. I am William, the butler of Blighton Manor. Please forgive me for welcoming you outside the front gate like this.”

So, he was the butler.

“I wish to meet Lord Lloydin Blighton.”

Though I felt a slight disappointment that it wasn’t Lloydin, I maintained a neutral expression and straightforwardly stated my purpose for coming here.

“I apologize, but his Lordship doesn’t wish to meet anyone. So, I kindly ask for your understanding and request that you leave for today.”

“I must meet Lord Lloydin today. Please convey my desire to meet him once more.”

“I’m sorry.”

Even after repeatedly expressing my wish to meet Lloydin , the butler remained firm in his attitude.

‘What should I do?’

I have to think, I have to think.

I have to come up with something that will pique his interest and make him meet me.

“Could you please ask Lord Lloydin just one more time for me? I must meet him.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Wait, there is something I must tell Lord Lloydin.”

Feeling frustrated as the butler kept repeating his apologies, I impulsively blurted out without thinking.

“If it’s something to tell him, then…”

I noticed a slight change in the butler’s expression in response to my words.

I seized the opportunity and quickly continued.

“It is a matter of utmost importance that I must speak directly to Lord Lloydin.”

“Well, if you could just give me a rough idea of what it is…”

“Do I have to say it all? It’s an incredibly important matter, and I can only convey it to Lord Lloydin and no one else.”

I deliberately hardened my expression and spoke firmly.

“Then, wait a moment, please. I’ll go and ask Lord Lloydin again.”

“Understood.”

As the butler disappeared through the large doors, I kept my gaze fixed on his retreating figure. Suddenly, I felt someone’s gaze on me and turned my head to the right.

Lia was staring at me with a worried expression.

“Lady…”

When our eyes met, Lia called out to me with a slightly trembling voice.

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.”

I raised the corners of my mouth slightly and held Lia’s hands.

“I said it before, but I must meet Lord Lloydin Blighton. Nothing bad will happen. So don’t worry too much. Trust me, okay?”

“Yes, you know. I will trust you no matter what.”

Lia nodded cautiously in response.

“But I am just worried that staying here for too long might worsen your health.”

“It’s alright. Maybe I’ll be even better than before.”

“What?”

Lia seemed puzzled by my words.

However, I couldn’t say anything more at the moment.

So, I just smiled gently and remained silent.

‘By the way, what should I say when I meet Lloydin?’

As I was thinking about what to say to him, the doors suddenly creaked open.

While only one side of the doors was opened before, this time both sides opened wide.

“Let’s go inside.”

“Yes? Yes, Lady.”

Realizing the meaning of it, I got into the carriage, and the carriage swiftly passed through the gates.

Even though I could sense it from the outside, as soon as I stepped inside and looked around through the window, it was much smaller than where I lived.

‘Both in terms of location and size.’

If someone unfamiliar saw this, they might not even think it was a mansion of one of the few noble families in the Empire.

However, despite its small size, the garden was well maintained.

Though it was too early to judge based on just a few words of conversation, it seemed like they had a competent steward.

After a while, the carriage slowed down and came to a complete stop.

I stood up to get off the carriage, and just as the door opened with a thud, a hand, easily twice the size of mine, blocked my path, palm facing me.

I raised my head to see who the owner of the large hand was, and before me was a handsome man with jet-black hair and even darker, intense eyes.

‘Wow.’

Is he human?

I couldn’t take my eyes off the stunningly beautiful man; I felt like I was enchanted and lost in his gaze.

Thanks to my brothers, I thought I had developed some immunity to handsome men.

Though my brothers were not bad-looking themselves, the man before me surpassed their level by far.

Moreover, why were his shoulders so broad, and why was he so tall that we were almost eye-level inside the carriage?

Perfect.

If someone asked me to point out the most perfect thing in the world, I would probably unhesitatingly point to this man.

He was that perfect.

“Are you Lady Anaïs?”

Wow, even his voice was no joke.

The deep, resonant voice calling my name sounded incredibly sweet and gentle.

As I continued to gaze at him dumbfounded, our eyes met suddenly.

‘Ah!’

What am I doing right now?

In embarrassment, I almost wanted to disappear into a mouse hole, but I managed to snap myself out of it for a moment.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Are you Lord Lloydin Blighton?”

With a hesitant heart, I called out the name of the person I wanted to meet.

“I am Lloydin Blighton.”

As his name flowed out from his lips, I couldn’t help but break into a broad smile, overwhelmed by a sense of relief.

“You’re, Lord Blighton right?”

“Yes, that’s correct.”

As he answered, Lloydin brought his hand closer to mine.

“Thank you.”

With a gesture of gratitude, I immediately placed my hand in his.

However…

It was the moment our hands touched.

“Huh?”

What on earth is this sensation?

A feeling I had never experienced in my life spread throughout my entire body.

My mind became clear and refreshed, and I felt a surge of energy coursing through me as if it were bursting out of my body.

Although I wasn’t particularly energetic by nature, I had expended a lot of energy today going to the tea party and then coming here, making me quite tired.

However, that tired feeling disappeared in an instant, and I felt like I could do anything right now.

I instinctively knew that my body’s functions had become more active.

‘I found it…!’

It meant that I had finally found the cure for myself, the person who would rescue me from the dreadful hell of being a condemned soul.
