“What did you say?!!!”
He Jingxue did not have the angry reaction she had expected, but instead had a hint of disbelief.
“Fu Yuling, say that to me again if you have the guts!”
She shouted sharply.
Fu Yuling calmly repeated, “Compared to targeting me, you should be more concerned about yourself.”
She turned around and prepared to leave. But after a few steps, she turned back around.
“He Jingxue, you previously took care of He Qiu. I’m very grateful for that!”
“But that is not a reason for you to hit him. The next time I discover you hitting him, you had better pray that you never cross paths with me.”
The chilling warning fell on He Jingxue’s ears, but she couldn’t hear anything at the moment.
“Is what you said… true?”
She asked again in a resigned manner, unlike her earlier hysterics.
“You should know better than me whether it’s true or not.”
Without any intention to say more, Fu Yuling left.
He Jingxue was left standing there with her head bowed. After a while, she did not push the door to go in, but instead turned around and left.
She first went home but didn’t find anyone there. She then went to his workplace to look for him and was told that he had already left work.
Her mind was a bit disorganized. Since he had said he would be working overtime and not returning home tonight, that’s why she came back to the village. But now, he’s not there, so where could he be?
She seemed to have thought of a place. Without caring about her own appearance, she ran in that direction.
When she arrived there, she knocked on the door according to the number she remembered seeing before.
It seemed no one was inside, and it took a long time for someone to come.
He Jingxue felt a bit relieved, thinking that maybe she was overthinking and shouldn’t have believed what Fu Yuling said.
But she was still strongly uneasy. All the previous signs she had discovered that tried to deceive her were telling her that it was true, just as Fu Yuling had said.
Before she could completely calm down, the door creaked open.
“Who is it?”
This voice made He Jingxue claw at the wall. She trembled and stopped herself from making a sound.
Because the door opened outwards, it blocked her from view. The person who opened the door didn’t notice anything.
Then a woman’s voice came.
“Who is it?”
“I don’t know.”
“Come in quickly! I’ve cooked some soup for you.”
“Okay.”
…
He Jingxue couldn’t bear to listen to the rest of the words. After the door closed again, she collapsed down to the ground.
In the depth of her eyes, a strong hatred was bursting forth, making her look a bit terrifying.
The man’s voice just now was gentle, not at all like the impatient tone he had at home with her. If the voice wasn’t so familiar to her, she might have thought it was two different people.
Squatting on the ground, perhaps because the house wasn’t well soundproofed, the intermittent conversation inside could be heard, and He Jingxue listened for a long time.
She discovered how he was reluctant for the woman to do the dishes, strongly insisting that she go rest. She also discovered that he could say sweet words and be caring towards that woman.
He Jingxue couldn’t understand it anymore. Why did this person have to treat her this way? Was it because that woman was more attractive? Because she was more seductive?
Intense resentment filled her heart. She stood up and slowly walked out of here.
In places where no one could see her, the lines around her gradually became more obvious and no longer transparent.
Fu Yuling didn’t know that the words she said had already led to the early signs of He Jingxue’s blackening.
She was preparing the dinner, knowing that He Jingxue wouldn’t be back tonight, so she went to bring He Qiu back.
