Fu Yuling could tell that something was off with He Wen. Even though he was just a child, everyone deserved their own personal space.

“Can’t sleep?”

“Come out with me for a moment.”
Fu Yuling pulled him up and told him to put on his clothes.
They went outside quietly, and Fu Yuling placed two chairs in the courtyard. It was already quite late, so it was quiet all around. If they listened carefully, they could even hear the sound of insects, creating a lively atmosphere.
The night sky was adorned with countless stars. Looking up, time seemed to stand still.
Fu Yuling didn’t say anything. She just wanted He Wen to look at the stars.

“Not nice.”
He Wen shook his head. There were stars in the sky, but they were too far away.

“Why are they not nice? Aren’t they cute when they twinkle?”
“I can’t touch them.”
Fu Yuling was taken aback. In her opinion, children tend to have more innocent thoughts and wouldn’t say things that were too realistic. But He Wen’s answer wasn’t what a child would normally say.
She thought that what he meant was that he couldn’t touch them, which means he had no way to get them, so even if they were nice, he didn’t care.

She thought she was already changing their mindset, but it seemed that the results weren’t so good.
Although He Xuan would get close to her and show affection towards her, she knew that He Xuan was much more distant than others imagined. Even when he was acting this afternoon, she couldn’t tell what was real.
