After Transmigrating into a Book, I Raised Four Big Bosses

Prelude to Li Cuihua's Offline (4)

This scene surprised her, but in the next second, her eyes quickly scanned the surroundings but she did not find He Wen’s figure.

“Brother…”

He An in her arms became restless and called out for his brother.

Fu Yuling didn’t pay attention to it at first. But when he kept calling in a certain direction, she lowered her head to confirm.

“Is your brother over there?”

“Brother, brother!”

He An was anxious and moved uneasily in her arms.

Fu Yuling walked towards the room that He An was looking at. The door was not locked, so she walked in directly and saw He Wen seemingly preparing something.

“Xiao Wen…”

When He Wen heard a familiar voice, he paused for a moment, thinking it was an illusion, and continued with what he was doing.

It wasn’t until he heard Fu Yuling’s voice again that he suddenly turned his head and saw Fu Yuling running towards him, hugging him with red eyes.

Fu Yuling finally felt relieved, but the lingering sense of fear from the thought of losing him kept her from relaxing even a bit.

He Wen cried. This was the second time she saw He Wen cry. Unlike last time, this time it was a heartbreaking cry that made people ache to the core.

The image of the mother and son embracing made a beggar who had just entered pause in his footsteps. He stopped outside. There was a girl standing beside him and holding a crude doll. She pointed to Fu Yuling inside and asked curiously, “Brother, is she our mom?”

“She’s our mom.”

The beggar answered like this, thinking of something in his heart as he turned and left, taking the little girl with him.

After a moment of hugging each other, she noticed a clear slap mark on He Wen’s face. Her delicate face immediately darkened, and she didn’t dare to touch his face.

“Who hit you?”

He Wen was a little scared by her reaction. “Li Cuihua hit me.”

Thinking of Li Cuihua, Fu Yuling’s anger couldn’t help but burst forth. But in front of the child, she held it back. Only the slight trembling of her body betrayed her anger.

“It’s alright now, I found you, didn’t I?”

She tried to sound light-hearted and made a joke.

“If I hadn’t found you, you would have become someone else’s child. Would you miss me then?”

He Wen didn’t think it was a joke and answered seriously. He was more serious than ever before.

“I won’t become someone else’s child, never.”

He was young, but he could tell that Fu Yuling was really worried about him. She didn’t even realize that her body was trembling and her voice was shaking when she spoke.

He took the initiative to hug Fu Yuling, burying himself in her arms.

“I’m your child, no one can take me away.”

When he saw Fu Yuling standing there, he softened. Probably, no one would come looking for him except her.

He was determined in his heart that if anyone bullied her in the future, he would help her fight back.

Taking He Wen out, He Wen threw away the hidden lime in a place where Fu Yuling wasn’t paying attention. He An saw it.

When they approached the beggar, Fu Yuling thanked him.

The beggar’s always gloomy eyes looked at the children around Fu Yuling, seemingly lost in some memories. “The one who adopted these children is my foster father. His own child died on the road a few years ago because he didn’t have money for medical treatment. Since then, he has gone crazy and has been begging for children everywhere.”

“I was waiting for the parents to come and take the children back when I found them, but many of the children had no one looking for them…”

“Gradually, I stopped waiting for the parents to come because most of the children who went back would be brought back by my foster father. If he didn’t bring them back himself, it meant that the children had been sold by their parents, or he had snatched them back from the human traffickers…”

Aww, that is so heartbreaking. I mean, not to drink on the villagers due to a lack of education, but they should be more cautious on who they trust their children with.
