ATBIRFBB Chapter 143

Why Are You Crying?

Previously, when he dropped out of school and clung to Li Yan, he found this person quite annoying. Gradually, as he followed Li Yan around, his feelings began to change. He had come to regard Li Yan as someone very important to him. As for this place, he had started to see it as home.

So when Luo Xiao almost caused the police station to lose money, he was particularly concerned.

All the memories that started with this place were linked to Li Yan. From the beginning when Li Yan ignored him, to later teaching him martial arts with a cold face, and even quietly caring for him. Bit by bit, everything came flooding back.

Hearing Xiao Rui about to cry caused a pang in Li Yan’s heart. He felt just as bad.

He slowly opened his eyes and saw Xiao Rui looking wronged, with tears welling up in his eyes.

Li Yan sat up slowly. His brows furrowed when he felt pain from his injuries. Leaning forward, his long fingers brushed against Xiao Rui’s cheek, bringing a bit of coolness.

He said helplessly, “Why are you crying?”

Wiping away the tears that had spilled because Xiao Rui was in a daze, his magnetic voice was filled with tenderness.

“Boss!”

Xiao Rui wanted to reach out to him.

“Hmm.”

He replied softly.

“Next time, don’t cry.”

Li Yan closed his eyes, recalling how Xiao Rui’s red eyes had glistened with tears.

After all, Xiao Rui was someone he had brought along, so he naturally felt some affection for him. (Pure brotherly love, don’t misunderstand!)

Thinking of this, he displayed a slightly gentler smile.

Xiao Rui wasn’t used to this side of him, but considering that this person was still injured, he allowed it.

Both were startled by the sound of the door opening. Xiao Rui didn’t know whether to feel guilty or what, but he immediately moved away from Li Yan.

Li Yan suddenly bumped into his back, and he could feel the wound open wider.

“Ah!”

Li Yan frowned and covered his waist with his hand.

Now, Xiao Rui couldn’t care less about the door. He quickly pulled back the blanket and began to check Li Yan’s injuries.

Li Yan was shot in the waist, and the once-white bandage was now stained red with blood. Xiao Rui cautiously unwrapped the bandage and noticed that the edges of the wound had turned pale.

He hurriedly picked up another roll of bandage nearby, cutting it to the right size to dress the wound.

The person who had come in was the one Li Yan had called over to find Xiao Rui. He turned the doorknob a couple of times and said, “It’s not broken, why was it left open?”

“Captain, are you there?”

He shouted.

Li Yan was focused on the man treating his wound and said without thinking, “Come in.”

As soon as the young man entered and saw Xiao Rui, his expression turned strange and he instinctively moved away.

Li Yan noticed it and looked over with a faint gaze. “What’s wrong?”

“I saw the door was open and thought you weren’t here, Captain!”

He explained, scratching his head awkwardly.

At this moment, Xiao Rui was nearly finished. He tidied up his things and headed straight for the bathroom.

As soon as he left, the young man paused, wanting to say something.

“Speak.”

The young man swallowed hard and began contemplating his words.

“Captain, I think I’ve discovered a secret.”

Li Yan wasn’t particularly interested about this, but when he heard the next part was about Xiao Rui, he paid a bit more attention.

The young man glanced toward the bathroom and lowered his voice, “Does Qi Rui like…”
