It was no wonder Luo Xiao felt speechless. He knew exactly how he had ended up here. But when this person claimed to have come in as a hero, he truly didn’t believe it.
For no other reason than the fact that this person didn’t look like a good person.
The man’s age was hard to tell. He looked like he could be in his thirties or forties, yet his voice sounded like that of someone just over twenty.
For a moment, Luo Xiao found it difficult to discern.
“Are you kidding? With your looks, I wouldn’t believe you were being a hero. I’d believe you came in here for murder.”
The man didn’t seem offended by this comment. He just smiled and said nothing.
“You don’t look worried, it seems you’ll be out in a few days. But what intrigues me is why you voluntarily came in.”
Luo Xiao was slightly surprised that this person had guessed the reason he was there so quickly. “How do you know?”
“The person who brought you in had a particularly complicated expression. Usually, they have a cold face when dealing with other inmates.”
“Just from that expression?”
Luo Xiao thought it was a bit absurd. After all, you couldn’t guess that precisely just by looking at someone’s face.
So he didn’t respond, leaning against the wooden railing, starting to survey his surroundings.
But to his disappointment, it seemed like there was only him and the person across from him and no one else.
The cells here resembled those from ancient times, but Luo Xiao was well aware that their police station was very poor.
The decoration made him seriously question if this place had once been a cattle pen that was later abandoned and used by the station.
What Luo Xiao didn’t know was that he was indeed correct.
This place had previously been used for cattle, but it wasn’t the station that used it specifically. Instead, after several months of investigation, they decided to use it because it was cheap, and their budget was just enough.
Of course, Luo Xiao was unaware of all this. If he had known, he would probably have thought sleeping on the streets was better than being here.
Luo Xiao didn’t sit there for long before he started to regret it, realizing he was foolish for getting himself caught.
It was still morning and mealtime hadn’t even arrived yet. He felt so bored that he was scratching his head, feeling increasingly irritated.
The person across from him suddenly pulled out a bottle of alcohol from somewhere. The aroma wafted through the air and immediately attracted Luo Xiao’s attention.
He was slightly surprised. “Where did you get that?”
The man tilted his head back to drink, then glanced at Luo Xiao. “Unlike you, I don’t have anyone to bring me gifts.”
That stung.
Because no one knew he was really in a police station.
Of course, no one was bringing him anything.
“Can I have a sip?”
He proposed, and the man took another gulp. Seeing Luo Xiao getting anxious, he capped the bottle and walked over, placing it on the ground. With a quick motion, he rolled the bottle toward Luo Xiao.
Eagerly, Luo Xiao picked it up and took a drink.
After finishing, he sighed, “Ah, the rich! Still able to afford alcohol these days.”
An idea popped into his head. “You’re not familiar with this place, right? How about you stick with me? I’ll help you thrive, and you can share your wine with me.”
The man wasn’t so easily fooled. He looked at Luo Xiao with a half-smile. His seemingly calm eyes weren’t intimidating, but Luo Xiao felt a sense of danger.
“If you don’t want to, just say so. No need to scare me.”
He said this with a righteous tone, almost as if he were ready to put his hands on his hips.
The man ignored him and continued to grab another bottle to drink from. The enticing scent of alcohol kept tempting Luo Xiao’s restless heart.
Thinking this guy wouldn’t respond to him, he slid down against the wooden post.
Suddenly, he heard a voice that startled him, prompting him to quickly turn around to look.
“Once we agree, you can’t back out.”
