After Marrying the Lord of the Underworld

The Final Act

Blood exploded in his hands, it was cold.

The golden figure screamed silently, its body suddenly became completely transparent, lost all substance, then broke free from Lu Yingjiu’s hand, and flashed back violently.

It wanted to hide in the darkness.

But would Lu Yingjiu allow it? Power surged in his body, he chased after it like a feline, crossing a distance of more than ten meters in half a second, catching up with it before it disappeared.

He exerted force under his feet, pounced on it, and firmly grasped it!

Both of them fell into the endless darkness.

Weightlessness.

Again, weightlessness.

The howling wind rose, blowing Lu Yingjiu’s clothes. The figure struggled constantly, beating him with all its strength, each hit came with a dull sound. But Lu Yingjiu was determined, no matter how it moved, he would not let go, he drew his knife and was about to cut off its head——

Bang!

They landed heavily.

Caught off guard, even if Lu Yingjiu had prepared himself, a bloody taste rose in his throat!

At this moment, the figure struggled hard to break free from his restraint and rushed out of a door.

Lu Yingjiu got up and chased after it, but it had completely disappeared, as if it had melted into the air.

…Wait, a door?

What it broke through was a pear blossom wooden door, the kind that looked very familiar.

To be precise, it was the conference room door of the Green Lantern Association.

Lu Yingjiu clicked his tongue.

Looking around, the conference room was exactly the same as he remembered. Rectangular table, comfortable chairs, scattered documents on the table, and a group of exorcists in different clothes…

They were all familiar faces, looking at him in astonishment.

They just fell in the center of the table, interrupting a meeting. No wonder everyone looked shocked.

“Lu… Chief Lu.” Someone stood up in surprise, “What happened to you?”

Lu Yingjiu waved his hand. “I’m fine.”

“Do you need us to take you to the hospital?” The person signaled with his eyes “Why aren’t you helping Chief Lu?”

Lu Yingjiu looked down and saw that his clothes were all blood. That wasn’t his blood, it was the figure’s, but it looked particularly scary.

Several people immediately stood up, wanting to support him.

Lu Yingjiu sighed. “Don’t come over.”

“How can that be, you are so badly injured.” A person walked to his side, reaching out to support him.

The next second, a knife pierced his neck, nailing him firmly to the wall! He widened his eyes, making a hissing sound in his mouth, and spat out a lot of blood.

The others were stunned, shouting in shock. “Lu, Chief Lu, what are you…!”

Lu Yingjiu pulled out the short knife, and the person fell to the ground limply, blood spurting out like a fountain.

He was expressionless. “You want to play the part of a familiar person being killed by me this time? Too bad, I’ve seen too much of this. The trick is enough to play once, I won’t be fooled the same way.”

Many ghosts would imitate familiar people, forcing exorcists not to take action.

Lu Yingjiu had seen so many, and his attacks were always fast, accurate and ruthless, without any psychological burden – just the fakes Ye Feng and Chen Zheng, he didn’t know how many he had killed.

“What are you talking about?” The exorcists retreated one after another, “Are you crazy?! You killed someone!!”

Several other exorcists had already taken out their talisman papers.

“Awooo!” Hairball appeared at Lu Yingjiu’s feet, fluffed up its fur, and bared its teeth at them.

Hairball looked harmless to humans and animals, but it was a beast after all.

Lu Yingjiu’s inviting the gods was easy to have a backlash, in previous confrontations, he must resolve everything in a very short time——

And he never lost, that’s enough to explain the problem.

It’s not obvious usually, but when one really uses all his strength, these people were no match at all.

The walls were painted, the ground was broken, and the thick wooden table was shattered. Bones exploded under his hand, blood splashed all over his body, Lu Yingjiu didn’t know how many people’s throats he had cut, and how many people’s hearts he had crushed. He pressed their heads against the wall and burst into a large patch of crimson flowers.

When everything was over, the entire conference room was red.

He stood alone, adjusted his breath, and casually pulled a piece of rag to wipe the blood off the knife.

The corpses on the ground turned into black fog and dissipated.

Squeak squeak squeak——

A loud sound rang out.

Lu Yingjiu looked over. At some point, a golden-haired monkey appeared at the door. It hopped around anxiously, looking at Lu Yingjiu as if it wanted to say something.

Lu Yingjiu was taken aback, “How are you here?”

This was the spirit monkey contracted by the Chen family.

The spirit monkey called out, and in the blink of an eye, it disappeared outside the door.

Lu Yingjiu followed, and outside the door was another darkness, with only the hair of the spirit monkey shining brightly.

They ran in the dark like this, one after the other, until Lu Yingjiu’s foot was empty——

Again, the familiar feeling of weightlessness, he fell for a long time.

Bang!

This time he was fully prepared for landing, rolled to unload the force, and quickly stood up.

What appeared in front of him was an old cruise ship.

The cruise ship was docked at the port, the sound of the sea waves was wave after wave, and the salty smell in the air.

Lu Yingjiu recognized this ship.

This was the first commission he did when he came to the Green Lantern Association: the sailor said there was a ghost on the ship.

The golden figure appeared again.

Seeing Lu Yingjiu following, it quickly fell into the sea from the bow of the ship and disappeared, not giving him any chance to chase.

Pat pat pat——

The sound came from under the ship, wet, as if something had climbed out of the water and was climbing up along the hull. Lu Yingjiu leaned over and looked out, the entire dark red hull was full of monstrous sailors, their faces pale and their lips purple.

He laughed. “It seems that you are determined to reminisce about the past with me.”

Hairball rushed out first, bounced roundly, and knocked several sailors back to the bottom of the sea.

Lu Yingjiu drew his knife and dyed this sea area crimson.

When all the sailors sank into the sea, the cold moonlight fell on his shoulders.

A huge shadow flew over his head.

He looked up and saw the rotating eye spots on the peacock’s tail feathers. It was all blue around it, the tail feathers were golden, shining under the moon, like a gorgeous dream.

The peacock flew straight to the corner of the dock.

Lu Yingjiu grabbed hairball and quickly followed.

As before, he ran into the darkness following the peacock. The feeling of weightlessness came, and he landed heavily.

This time the scene returned to his high school campus.

Lu Yingjiu stood at the back of the classroom, all the classmates turned their heads together, their heads turned 180 degrees, staring at him straight.

–Their bodies were all distorted, some bones were exposed, some grew strange limbs, more like monsters than humans.

With each scene, the ghosts that appeared were more like servants.

They moved silently, rushing towards Lu Yingjiu like a tide.

Lu Yingjiu casually picked up a stool and smashed their heads!

This time, the blood of the ghosts was black and red.

When the entire classroom was dyed black and red, and the broken bones were all over the floor, a gust of wind blew, raising the blood-stained curtains.

A Di Ting jumped lightly from the window, glanced at Lu Yingjiu, and ran towards the outside of the classroom.

Lu Yingjiu followed it.

Again, darkness and weightlessness.

This time he was on the way home from middle school.

Flowers bloomed on the trees, falling on the road, laying a thick layer of purple and pink.

It was beautiful.

If it weren’t for him being surrounded by servants, he might have the mood to appreciate it.

With the movement of his knife, the purple flowers danced.

The wind blew, and in the misty rain of flowers was a sharp killing intent.

When the last drop of black blood fell, a red fire snake appeared, slithering through the flowers and blood, leading him to the last place——

Falling in the dark.

Lu Yingjiu landed heavily, the rainwater in the wasteland slapped on his cheeks, bringing a cold frenzy.

The whole world was the sound of rain, he stood up, and in the distance were two hazy red lanterns, in the hazy rain curtain, like blood and fog.

It’s hard to say whether it’s festive or thrilling.

“Awoo?” Hairball tilted its head to express confusion.

Lu Yingjiu held the short knife, braved the wind and rain to approach, and finally saw clearly, it was an old mansion.

To be precise, it’s the old mansion where he had his ghost marriage.

The golden figure appeared again, disappearing at the door.

“You’re here.” A voice sounded.

Lu Yingjiu looked over, and the old man was standing by the door.

No, he couldn’t be called an “old man” now. His face had changed more drastically, and his figure had also changed accordingly, different hairstyles, different facial features, different ages, different genders…

He was a collection of countless people.

The peacock quietly accompanied him, the spiritual monkey stood on his shoulder, the Di Ting yawned at his feet, and the snake gently wrapped around his arm.

He stood here, waiting for Lu Yingjiu’s arrival.

Lu Yingjiu: “Who are you?”

The man laughed. “Who I am is not important, I have no name. I am here to answer the previous questions.”

“Is it those illusions?” Lu Yingjiu said.

When he was deeply trapped in the illusion, the man once asked him if he wanted to know why he could see the ‘world in the eyes of the Heavenly Way’.

“Yes.” The man said, “Now I tell you the answer: because you are already a part of it.”

“You didn’t die in the live sacrifice, it’s not a coincidence, it’s because it can’t ‘kill’ you.” The man sighed, “It wants to take back its missing part, so it has been chasing you. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be so crazy.”

“Of course, you are not the most special one.”

“There are many fragments of the Heavenly Way in this world, they may be animals, they may be plants, or they may be humans like you. The Heavenly Way will always hunt them down until it achieves perfection.”

Lu Yingjiu: “…”

Lu Yingjiu said, “Why, did the Heavenly Way shatter?”

“It was contaminated.” The man said, “Broken and disintegrated.”

Lu Yingjiu nodded, “Hmm, I understand.”

His attitude was unexpectedly calm.

The man was slightly taken aback, and then heard Lu Yingjiu say, “I don’t care about these, nor do I care whether I am a part of the Heavenly Way. I am just an ordinary person who is already very tired and wants to go home. There is no difference between you and me.”

Lu Yingjiu took a step back. “If there’s nothing else, then I’m going in.”

After the man was taken aback, he laughed. “You go, it’s time to end all this.”

Lu Yingjiu took a few steps, then turned back. “Thank you…..thank you all.”

The figures transformed from those aristocratic families waved at him with smiles behind him.

They said: “Wish you all the best.”

The vermilion door was right in front of him.

Lu Yingjiu took a deep breath and pushed the door in—

The room was brightly lit, full of red.

A big “happiness” character was in the middle, and lanterns were hung high.

Eight tables for heaven and earth were covered with red tablecloths, and red candles on the table were shedding tears. Paper people were sitting on the seats of the parents. The surrounding spectators all wore ghost masks, tall or short. They looked at Lu Yingjiu, laughed loudly, and applauded.

The gongs and drums became more lively, some people were playing suona, some were crying and laughing.

The little ghost stretched its neck and shouted loudly, “The time has come—”
