After more than an hour of treatment, Yi Lingfeng’s high fever gradually subsided, and his skin no longer appeared as red as when he arrived at the hospital. He became calm and stable.
Seeing this, Jiang Wan Yu finally let out a long breath of relief.
Thank goodness they arrived in time, and fortunately, the medication was able to alleviate the situation. Otherwise, Yi Lingfeng’s brain might have been damaged by the fever.
Meanwhile, Lin Yi Chen had been holding Dian Dian and waiting outside the operating room, anxiously wishing he could rush inside.
Fortunately, a doctor had informed him that the treatment involved medical intervention, not the methods he had initially feared which eased his concerns.
Jiang Wan Yu had been mentally strained throughout the night. After completing the surgery, she felt almost physically drained.
She forced herself to stay alert as she exited the operating room. When she raised her head, she saw Lin Yi Chen holding Dian Dian, both of them staring at her.
For a moment, Jiang Wan Yu felt a strange sense of familiarity between them, as if they shared a resemblance.
However, she quickly shook her head firmly.
It must have been her imagination.
Dian Dian was an abandoned child; there was no way he could resemble Lin Yi Chen.
“Why did you bring Dian Dian to the hospital?” Jiang Wan Yu approached the two of them and reached out to hold her son.
But Lin Yi Chen didn’t release his grip. “You’ve been up all night, let me hold him. Is the surgery over?”
Jiang Wan Yu nodded. “Yes, everything’s fine now.”
“That’s good. I’ve booked a room near the hospital. Let me take you both there to rest,” Lin Yi Chen suggested.
Jiang Wan Yu hesitated and was about to refuse, “No need.”
But after hearing this, Lin Yi Chen’s eyes grew serious. “What? Are you afraid that I have ulterior motives?”
“You’re overthinking it, Mr. Lin. I just don’t want any further involvement with you,” Jiang Wan Yu replied calmly, then turned to Dian Dian. “Come here, let Mommy hold you.”
Dian Dian instinctively opened his arms to her.
However, Lin Yi Chen addressed Dian Dian instead. “Your Mommy has been up all night. Can you bear to make her continue holding you? She needs some rest.”
Dian Dian hesitated for a moment.
Jiang Wan Yu’s face darkened. “I’m not tired.”
“Don’t say that you’re not tired when you have no color left in your face!” Lin Yi Chen’s deep and magnetic voice sounded in her ear, filled with a different kind of tenderness and concern.
Jiang Wan Yu’s heart trembled slightly.
But she quickly regained her composure and said to Lin Yi Chen, her expression emotionless, “Even if that’s the case, it has nothing to do with you, Mr. Lin.”
Now he cared about her?
Back when they were together, where had he been?
Seeing Jiang Wan Yu suddenly become prickly, Lin Yi Chen felt a sense of frustration, but he didn’t get angry. He simply said calmly, “I’ve heard that night time is crucial for a child’s growth. If they don’t sleep well at night, they won’t grow tall. Can you bear to let your son stay up all night with you here?”
Jiang Wan Yu immediately looked at Dian Dian, her expression wavering.
“Let’s go. Don’t worry; I won’t be in the same room as you,” Lin Yi Chen said assertively as he picked up Dian Dian and led the way out of the hospital.
Jiang Wan Yu followed reluctantly.
Lin Yi Chen was right; she could stay up all night, but Dian Dian couldn’t.
Once they left the hospital, Lin Yi Chen took Jiang Wan Yu and Dian Dian to his car. “Get in the car. You can hold your son, and I’ll drive.”
“Okay.” Jiang Wan Yu replied softly and took Dian Dian.
Once they were seated, Lin Yi Chen got into the driver’s seat and drove towards a nearby five-star hotel. Thanks to Lin Yi Chen’s prior arrangements, they didn’t need to go through the check-in process. They were directly escorted to the presidential suite on the top floor.
“I’ll be next door. If you need anything tonight, you can knock on my door,” Lin Yi Chen said after escorting them to their room.
His eyes were filled with desire as he stared at the mother and son.
