After Divorce, I Became Pregnant With My Ex-Husband's Child

The Flight the Day After Tomorrow

The interview was conducted by two doctors of vice-director level.

After answering several professional questions, both of them wore satisfied expressions and immediately informed her that she had passed the interview and would be offered a contract.

Relieved, Jiang Wan Yu accepted the contract but maintained her caution.

She said, “I’m sorry, but I’d like to review the contract first.”

One of the doctors chuckled, “Of course, take your time. We’re delighted to have such an outstanding doctor joining our hospital.”

The contract was standard with no unusual terms, and the salary and benefits were excellent. Jiang Wan Yu nodded in agreement after ensuring there were no issues.

“That’s it. Dr. Jiang, feel free to sign it now. We’ll be colleagues soon,” the other doctor said cheerfully.

“Alright.” Jiang Wan Yu smiled and nodded, then picked up the black pen on the table to sign her name.

After the contract was signed, they said, “Then, Dr. Jiang, you can start working with us tomorrow.”

“Please don’t be late!” added the other doctor.

“I won’t.” Jiang Wan Yu smiled and assured them before bidding them farewell. She left the hospital with a light-hearted step.

After settling her job situation, Jiang Wan Yu video-called her son that evening. She made sure not to reveal any signs of the recent events.

“Mom, I miss you so much!” On the phone screen, her adorable son looked at her with longing eyes which expressed his deep yearning.

Seeing her son’s face and knowing that she had missed so much of his life, Jiang Wan Yu’s eyes welled up with tears. She quickly wiped them away and replied with a warm smile, “Mommy misses you too. Isn’t Daddy coming back to the country soon? In a few days, we’ll be able to meet!”

Her heart ached at the thought of what life might have been like if her child had survived. Would he have been as cute and lovable as her current video call— Dian Dian?

However, just as she was enjoying this moment with her son, Dian Dian’s phone was suddenly taken away by a large hand.

In an instant, the screen displayed the handsome and somewhat wicked face of Yi Lingfeng.

“We’re flying the day after tomorrow,” Yi Lingfeng said in his usual cold tone.

Jiang Wan Yu’s smile waned, and she replied, “I know. Please send me the flight details, and I’ll pick you up at the airport.”

“No need. It’s a Friday, and you’ve just started your job. Taking leave isn’t a good idea,” Yi Lingfeng replied curtly.

“Oh…” Jiang Wan Yu pursed her lips and replied dryly.

With nothing else to say, the conversation fell into an awkward silence. Yi Lingfeng continued to gaze at her through the screen, his eyes deep and intense.

Fortunately, at that moment, her son asked to speak with her again which broke the strange atmosphere.

However, Yi Lingfeng didn’t give them much time. He coldly said, “It’s time for him to sleep. Hang up.”

“Alright.” Jiang Wan Yu heaved a sigh of relief and said her goodbyes to her son, reluctantly ending the video call under Yi Lingfeng’s stern gaze.

Once the video call ended, Jiang Wan Yu took a deep breath.

She couldn’t help but wonder why she felt an inexplicable sense of unease around Yi Lingfeng. Although he appeared cold on the surface, he treated her far better than Lin Yi Chen ever did.

However, before she could dwell on this thought any further, she received a call from Gu Jinyan.
