Wei Zi Yue’s face darkened instantly.
So, he had been secretly photographed by paparazzi!
Chi Zaozao probably thought he had done it intentionally, right? She might even suspect that he had collaborated with the paparazzi to target her!
One thing Wei Zi Yue couldn’t stand was being wrongly accused. With an unpleasant expression, he picked up his laptop and walked into the real estate agency, connecting to their Wi-Fi.
Not long after, he found Chi Zaozao’s phone number and called her.
It took a while for Chi Zaozao to answer the call.
“Hello? Who is this?” Chi Zaozao asked.
This was her private number, known only to a very few.
“It’s me, Wei Zi Yue. The guy who sat across from you this afternoon,” Wei Zi Yue said.
Upon hearing his voice, Chi Zaozao’s tone suddenly escalated, “Is it you?! How dare you call me! Wait, how did you get my private phone number? Are you a sasaeng fan?”
“Please, don’t jump to conclusions. I called to tell you that the news has nothing to do with me. I never expected you to be so unlucky as to get caught by paparazzi right away,” explained Wei Zi Yue.
Hearing this, Chi Zaozao asked with some suspicion, “Are you sure it has nothing to do with you?”
She wasn’t entirely convinced!
“Absolutely! I just happened to be there today, and remember, it was you who sat next to me voluntarily, right?” Wei Zi Yue clarified.
Chi Zaozao pondered for a moment. And indeed, she had approached him, not the other way around.
“I understand. You can rest assured that since this matter has nothing to do with you, I’ll handle it, and it won’t cause you any trouble,” Chi Zaozao said.
It was her mistake to involve an innocent bystander in this.
Wei Zi Yue raised an eyebrow upon hearing this.
His impression of Chi Zaozao improved significantly.
“No problem. If there’s anything I can help with, just let me know,” Wei Zi Yue said.
“You have quite the audacity, young man. Alright, I’ve seen much bigger storms in my time. It’s just a rumor, and I’ll clarify it,” Chi Zaozao chuckled.
She didn’t expect this young man to be so responsible.
“What do you mean, young man? I’m already 23!” Wei Zi Yue was annoyed when Chi Zaozao called him a young man.
“Only 23? Haven’t you graduated from college yet?” Chi Zaozao teased while noticing his frustration.
“I’ve already graduated, okay? If you keep this up, do you want me to admit I’m your boyfriend?” Wei Zi Yue threatened in a low voice.
“Oh! Well, you’ve actually done me a big favor. My family has been pressuring me to get married, you know! I don’t mind having a younger boyfriend!” Chi Zaozao responded casually, not concerned in the least.
“You!” Wei Zi Yue was at a loss for words.
“Alright, I have things to do. I’ll hang up now,” Chi Zaozao said and promptly ended the call.
Wei Zi Yue furrowed his brow slightly.
In the next moment, he directed a fierce gaze at the marketing accounts that had spread rumors about Chi Zaozao’s secret marriage.
After a flurry of actions, several marketing accounts with millions of followers were suddenly banned.
Simultaneously, the chat logs of these marketing accounts in which they discussed taking money to smear Chi Zaozao were exposed online.
In an instant, the rumors were debunked without any effort.
Upon seeing this, Chi Zaozao’s fans sighed in relief and redirected their anger which had been aimed at Chi Zaozao for supposedly secretly marrying without them knowing, towards these marketing accounts.
