About The Death That You Served Me

Prologue

To My Dear Adele Bryce, Head Maid of the Duke of Laperion.

Hello, Miss Adele.
I am writing to you after a long time. How have you been? It’s quiet here in the capital for the first time in a while.
The war of successors to the Imperial Throne has entered a lull. (Of course, it’s still shocking that the princess suddenly passed away.)

There’s a lot I have to talk to you about, but it is better reserved for when we get to sit down and have a cup of tea together. Anyway, the reason I’m writing you this letter is because I’m wondering if you’re still looking for a maid.

I’m inquiring only because you previously wrote to me, troubled about the shortage of hands you have there in the Duke’s estate. As you know, the situation here in Freyback has become worse recently.
The count ordered me to let go of a large number of maids here, so I was left with no choice.
I’m thinking of sending a maid who works the best here to you. If you wish, I will write her a letter of recommendation and send it to you.

Then, I look forward to hearing from you.

– From your friend, Keila Ronen.

PS, is the Duke of Laperion still out?
PS 2, if there are any aristocrat houses in your vicinity that have vacant positions for a maid, please let me know.

To My Dear Keila Ronen, the head maid of Count Freyback.
Hello, Keila.

It was very pleasant to hear from you after so long. I wonder how you’ve been since we last met in the capital.

Thank you for the news of the capital. Whatever it is, it’s fortunate that the hideous atmosphere has subsided.
Then, will the first prince become the crown prince? There is no way that the weak-willed second prince will start the battle of succession on his own again.
(This part was blackened out with a pen.)

Anyway, thank you for remembering my complaint and your help.

We’re very short-staffed here in the Duchy, so I can’t even begin to tell you how pleased everyone was with your suggestion. There’s really no one coming to work in this harsh, cold northern land.

Just in time, the Duke had asked me to bring in a new maid. I was really troubled because of the request.

If it’s a child you recommend, Keila, then she must have proved herself. Thank goodness.

I’m going to report it to the butler right away, so I’d appreciate it if you could tell me when the maid will arrive.

Then, stay healthy.

– With thanks, from Adele Bryce.

PS, The Duke has recently returned.

PS 2, I heard they are looking for a maid at Viscount Evolton’s manor in the south. Why don’t you check them out?

To My Dear Adele Bryce, Head Maid of The Duke of Laperion.

Hello, Miss Adele.
I’m glad I was able to help. The maid will depart from the capital immediately, so I think she will arrive in about three weeks.

Then, I’ll contact you again.

– With all due respect, from Keila Ronen.

To My Dear Keila Ronen, the head maid of Count Freyback.

Greetings, Keila.
The maid you sent has arrived safely. She is a very beautiful and quiet child.

Thank you.

– With thanks, from Adele Bryce.

To My Dear Keila Ronen, the head maid of Count Freyback.

Hello, Keila.

How are you doing in the capital? The reason I’m writing this letter to you is because I wish to ask you a question about the young maid you sent me last time.

Do you remember the maid for whom you wrote a letter of recommendation to me three months ago?

She’s a young girl with light violet hair called Ashlyn.
I think she’s a little different from what you wrote to me.

I didn’t know until now because the Duke had told me that the new maids were to be given basic tasks. Then, when the duke left for business a month ago, I had her take some more chores.

Isn’t this child, Ashlyn, not used to the work of a maid at all?
Please check if the maid you wrote the recommendation letter for has been replaced. I’d appreciate it if you could reply as soon as possible.

Well then, have a nice day.

– Awaiting your reply, Adele Bryce.

To Keila Ronen, the head maid of Count Freyback.
I ask for your understanding for writing to you again. Did you receive my previous letter? I didn’t get your reply.

Do you remember the maid you sent to us seven months ago?
I’m referring to the child called Ashlyn.
That girl has been suffering from a high fever for two weeks now.

Her quality of work wasn’t good to begin with, but now she can’t even seem to open her eyes properly because of a fever of unknown causes.
Did this ever happen when she used to work at the count’s? Please let me know if this is some chronic disease.

Honestly, I’m very worried because things keep happening related to this maid recommended by Keila.

Please reply as soon as possible.

– From Adele Bryce.

To Keila Ronen, the head maid of Count Freyback.

Keila, please reply.
I think we’ve received the wrong maid. I refuse to believe you would betray my trust like this.

Please reply as soon as you can.

– From Adele Bryce.

To Keila Ronen, the head maid of Count Freyback.

Keila?

Please reply at your earliest convenience.

– From Adele Bryce.

To Keila Ronen.

Keila, please reply if you’re reading this.

– Adele Bryce

Keila Ronen,

If you don’t reply to this letter, I’ll chase after you to the end of the continent and make you take responsibility for this.

To Adele Bryce, Head Maid of The Duke of Laperion.

Hello, Miss Adele.

I’m Roelle, the new head maid at Count Freyback’s estate.
Keila Ronen, the former head maid, has long since left the count’s family, so please refrain from sending letters here every day.

Well, I’ll cut this short.
– Roelle Dream.
