The music video set where the (Escape) music video was filmed.
“Wow! Hyungs, look at this!”
Kim Dobin, having changed into his outfit, made a big fuss to grab our attention.
At first, the idea of a cape over a suit sounded a bit excessive, but surprisingly, he pulled it off well.
Still, I couldn’t shake the thought that Seo Yehyun would have suited the look even better.
Dobin flapped his cape like bat wings, then tossed the jewel he was supposed to steal in the music video, catching it repeatedly before holding it up to the light.
“I totally thought this was going to be a cheap-looking, fake giant diamond, but doesn’t it actually look like something worth stealing?”
The prop jewel featured a large sapphire at its center, surrounded by smaller diamonds, creating an extravagant piece.
Of course, they weren’t real diamonds or a real sapphire—just high-quality imitations.
“Hey, stuff like this would be hard to sell as soon as you steal it. Until you find a broker, it’s just a useless burden.”
“Until Dobin-hyung’s comment, he sounded like a phantom thief purely after jewels. But as soon as Eden-hyung mentioned stolen goods and brokers, it suddenly turned into a full-blown crime scene.”
Ryu Jaehee shook his head in exasperation at my remark.
With a snap of his fingers, Dobin pointed confidently at Jaehee and declared,
“The culprit is among us!”
“No! That’s my line as the detective! You’re the thief—you’re not supposed to say that!”
Dobin and Jaehee then started chasing each other around the set, pretending to arrest the phantom thief. Watching them from my seat, I let out a half-amused, half-exasperated chuckle.
“They’ve got more stamina than us, even though we work out all the time.”
Wasn’t he hot in that outfit? Even with the air conditioning blasting in the set, wearing a coat when summer was approaching had to be unbearable.
“Speaking of working out, do you think we’ll be in Achaeda this time?”
Gyeon Hajun, fanning himself beside me, mumbled as if talking to himself.
Achaeda—short for Idol Athletics Championship, a sports competition program held by a national broadcaster every Lunar New Year and Chuseok holiday.
Considering that filming usually took place from late July to early August, it was coming up soon.
We hadn’t been able to participate last Chuseok or this past Lunar New Year, but this time, it seemed inevitable.
Since our agency wasn’t a major one but rather mid-sized, we couldn’t afford to refuse and risk upsetting the network.
Didn’t Seo Yehyun get injured there once?
I vaguely remembered him twisting his ankle slightly during a relay race.
Luckily, it hadn’t been a serious injury, and he had recovered quickly, but apparently, it had caused a huge uproar among fans—or so Jaehee had told me.
Back when I had just broken free from being a struggling idol, I had gone all out in Achaeda, but as I gained more experience and saw people like Yehyun getting injured, I started taking it easy.
Our bodies were our greatest assets. If we got hurt, it was over. Having seen injuries happen repeatedly in that event, I had become even more cautious.
Of course, making an impact at Achaeda could generate buzz. But no matter how many points I scored in basketball, the real trending topic would always be something like “Seo Yehyun looks like an elf in archery.”
Apparently, as long as a handsome guy held a bow, people would call him an elf.
I knew well enough that no one would say that about me if I tried archery, so I didn’t even bother considering it.
“I’ll think about it when we actually get the notification for Achaeda.”
The break ended, and we resumed filming the music video.
Since the concept revolved around a chase between a detective and a phantom thief, this shoot involved a lot of action scenes.
During a scene where I was supposed to tackle the thief, I almost got seriously injured.
Dobin was supposed to slip out, leaving only his cape behind, but instead, he ended up crashing into me, pinning me to the ground.
I hadn’t expected him to be that slow at running. Yeah, he was definitely not suited for relay races.
“Hyung, you’re heavy…”
“You idiot, your elbow is digging into my ribs—I can’t breathe…”
Dobin, squashed under me, groaned weakly, but honestly, I was in worse shape than him.
Trying to suppress the curses rising in my throat, I rubbed my throbbing side.
“Action scenes… are tough…”
Hearing Dobin mutter this in a newfound realization, I closed my eyes in frustration.
You’re the one who elbowed me in the ribs, and now you’re complaining?

Although we had appeared on variety shows and uploaded self-produced content on our YouTube channel, fans were beginning to grow weary due to the prolonged hiatus.

A paid fan club recruitment notice had been posted on the official account. Fans flooded the comments, venting their frustrations over how long it took, while others debated whether they should join.
A paid fan club—something that granted fans a sense of joy and pride in officially belonging, yet became a double-edged sword when they lost interest, making the money spent feel like a waste.
To ease their dilemma, a preview of the fan club kit was revealed.
The kit, perhaps as a way to compensate for the summer that slipped away during the hiatus, featured a refreshing ocean-themed concept.

The photos of them wet, or finally revealing the muscles they’d hidden beneath long sleeves until now, taken against a beach backdrop, were more than enough to make Daydream members open their wallets.
Even fans who had been wary, recalling their past outfits like the Sponge Experiment Man look from Come Into My Universe, the semiconductor employee outfit, and the poor astronaut costume, felt reassured and eagerly signed up for the paid fan club.
Among them was a fan named Kim, who immediately joined as soon as the 1st recruitment opened.
No matter how many times she rewatched episodes of Mydol Observation Camera on YouTube—like the unreleased Jeju Island trip epilogue, Dobin’s Surprise Birthday Camera Mission, Happiness with 20,000 Won, or Love Manual—the hiatus still felt unbearably long.
So when the fan kit was announced, it felt like rain after a drought.
“Would it kill them to film daily-life self-produced content like Mydol Observation Camera again?”
No sooner had Kim grumbled to herself than a notification popped up—her favorite member had posted on the official fan café.

[From. Eden]
“Daydream, I hope you are all doing well. Since our hiatus has been long, we’re planning our own music broadcast to keep you entertained. We’ll likely be taking song requests and performing them. Please leave the song you want to hear and the member you’d like to sing it in the comments below, and we’ll take them into consideration.”
“P.S. If you’re requesting a rap (K-hiphop, foreign hip-hop), please make sure it’s free of explicit language (e.g., fxxk).”
—
A fan live show with song requests?!
The comment section was already overflowing with song requests.
There were pop songs, indie band tracks, solo songs by male and female artists, idol group songs, foreign hip-hop—requests spanning a variety of genres.
With nearly a thousand comments, Kim knew the odds of her song being picked were as slim as finding a needle in a haystack. Still, just in case, she submitted a rap-style pop song she’d been into lately, along with an older hip-hop track.
Both were songs she’d love to hear in Eden’s voice.
The moment she posted her comment, Eden responded underneath.
“-Song requests are now closed. Please submit again next time.”
She gasped at the impeccable timing, clutching her chest in relief. Now all that was left was for her favorite member to pick her song.
…No, she still had one more thing to wish for—for LnL to get their act together.

The idea had come from Ryu Jaehee.
With the hiatus dragging on, fans were bound to lose interest. They didn’t have time to film self-produced content, and since they were in the middle of preparing for a comeback, even a simple vlog could end up spoiling something.
So, instead, they’d take song requests and hold a fan live in their practice room, like a radio show.
As the confident main vocalist, Jaehee had no problem pitching the idea.
***
“Hey, Yehyun-hyung is getting a lot of song requests, but there’s a problem—the notes are too high. Way too high.”
“Just filter them out. I’d prefer songs that are easy and don’t have high notes.”
“Anyone request a children’s song?”
“Hyung, don’t underestimate children’s songs. Some of them have ridiculously high notes.”
***
As I scrolled through the comments on my From post, everyone was busy searching for their name and sorting through their requested songs.
Jaehee and Hajun had no trouble tackling any song thanks to their confidence in their skills, but Dobin needed songs that weren’t too high-pitched or filled with complex vocal techniques to sound natural.
Yehyun, on the other hand, had the strictest criteria—no rap, no high notes, nothing too challenging.
I decided to pick my own song first and then help filter Yehyun’s options.
The two songs listed right above my “requests closed” comment caught my eye.
Oh, these both seem good. One was a pop song, and the other was a Korean track—there was no issue with overlap, and both were familiar to me.
I saved those two and continued scrolling through my name mentions.
Fans had requested both Korean and foreign hip-hop, but since explicit lyrics were off-limits, only a handful of songs actually made the cut.
“Hey, system, can’t you make an exception for lyrics in songs? It’s not like I want to curse—I’m just respecting the original artist.”
[‘fuck’, ‘motherfucker’ are all prohibited words.]
(Ayaka : the system literally said F and M.f in English lol)
Yeah, I get that the second one is definitely a no-go. But come on, fuck is practically a filler word in hip-hop.
[Prohibited words.]
The system, clearly clueless about real hip-hop, was mercilessly strict.
